Review Time
There were some problems with my experience on TripAdvisor. For some years I have been looking for leisure and travel sites and for sure TripAdvisor left me disappointed. Starting with the fact that on one of the occasions, I was tricked by a fake ad inside a hostel's own website. After that, never a second attempt months later, after making the payment for the package, I had my credit card cloned and several purchases made on random internet sites. If I had to recommend it, I would not recommend TripAdvisor to any of my acquaintances, the two experiences were not good and I was totally dissatisfied with what happened.
How ironic that one of the first predatory companies, muscling in on other countries markets and one of the original review led sites is now a company that has a very poor rating.I stopped posting reviews on there a few years ago because they asked me to change/reconsider a poor review, it was obvious that only good reviews were acceptable so rendering the model of reviewing useless. When reviewing I tried to be honest and relevant (not a good idea in the Trip Advisor world) Since then, I only deal with the owners for booking, paying and to resolve issues etc. This is how it operated before these middlemen sites got involved and after all they are only money making machines that invest nothing in the businesses. Maybe its time to take a few steps back and make these sites redundant because dealing direct always has more positive results.
Tripadvisor stealing businesses data without the owner’s agreement or knowledge & put them on their website which is illegal in UK.Tripadvisor not letting business owners to remove their business from their website, keeping the business’s data on their website by force & bullying tactics which is illegal again in UK.Tripadvisor is allowing people with fake ID to leave fake reviews for UK businesses which are totally false & based on personal vendetta. Again that is illegal in UK.All activities of Tripadvisor in UK are illegal.Tripadvisor is hiding in US & declaring their US address is the only address they have to make it difficult & expensive for UK business owners to sue them. No other company in the world is behaving the same as this company.Tripadvisor’s policies are only based on themselves to make as much money as possible.
we have used Trip Advisor numerous to research hotels, restaurants, activities, etc.went on Trip Advisor web site to make a booking for a restaurant for Christmas Eve, was passed onto 'TheFork' a restaurant booking platform affiliated to Trip Advisor, had email from TheFork confirming the booking had been accepted. We turned up at restaurant on time, only to be told they were closed to the public, family only, showed them a copy of the email but we were told they never take bookings for Christmas Eve . . . . . an hour later (after the restaurant messaged TheFork) we got a message from TheFork saying the booking was cancelled. No explanation or apology from TheFork, no apology from Trip Advisor, and no option to review TheFork on the Trip Advisor web site even though TheFork is a Trip Advisor company. The one star we have given is because that was as low as we could go for this review.
Purchased tickets on TripAdvisor.com to the Frida Kalho museum in Mexico City. They are selling tickets from another tour company, which is running a scam. I received my mobile tickets from Trip advisor with correct name, booing number and bar code. Upon arrival, the museum refused our tickets and said that this keeps happening that they do not accept 3rd party tickets. We had to buy another set of tickets. After several emails and phone calls with Trip Advisor trying to explain that they are selling fake tickets. You only get an a short email saying that they will not be able to issue a refund and the case is closed. Worst customer service. I suggest only using this site for information only, do not purchase anything.
Do not use at all!. Due to covid are unable to holiday in Wales and they only refund half of your money. So transfered it to next year which is great, but now want £171 transfer fee...For what? Typing in new dates on a calendar? Also if you book a cottage in the UK they'll keep telling you to contact the owner who will tell you to contact Trip advisor...Took two weeks to get to the transfer holiday part of this issue...Be aware!
