I called Westgate today to schedule a Bank Week at one of its resorts. After providing credit card information, $169.00 for the cost of booking I was as to pay my 2025 maintenance. I informed the representative that the maintenance was not due until January 2025. At which time she informed me that she could not hornor my request to use my banked week until I paid the 2025 maintenance fee. I have decided to retain a lawyer to get out of my timeshare.

Deceptive Practices and High-Pressure…

Deceptive Practices and High-Pressure Sales at Westgate ResortsWestgate Resorts misled my family and me with false promises of free meals, accommodations, and discounts to lure us into a sales presentation. Instead, we were subjected to over seven hours of relentless pressure to buy a timeshare we clearly didn’t want. The representatives used manipulative tactics, including withholding the contract, changing terms, and claiming the offer was “once-in-a-lifetime.”After signing under extreme duress, we discovered the benefits they promised—such as lifetime discounts—were entirely fabricated. The true costs are astronomical, with no value in return. This was a classic example of timeshare fraud, and I wouldn’t recommend Westgate Resorts to anyone. Be cautious, ask for written terms upfront, and don’t let them pressure you into making a hasty decision.

false promises

I feel that my wife Hope and I were tricked into this purchase through deceptive sales practices and misrepresentation. We were misinformed about many details. They told us that the presentation would take about 90 minutes, but it ended up being 3 hours. This misrepresentation led us to believe that we were making an investment in something other than a traditional timeshare. The sales agents pressured us repeatedly, and despite declining two or three times, they continued their aggressive tactics until we felt forced to make a decision. We have never used the timeshare since purchasing it. When we contacted Westgate to return the property, we were told we were "stuck with it" unless we could sell it ourselves - a stark contrast to the promise that we could "cancel anytime." This is a financial burden on us! Their sales agents failed to disclose that the yearly maintenance fees would increase by 6% every single year—forever. They also deliberately concealed that these maintenance fees would be passed down to our children when we pass away, a crucial detail that would have affected our decision. The entire sales process felt rushed, with sales agents creating artificial urgency. Two sales agents told us the "deals" would only be possible for that day only, so we weren't given any time to do our research. Since our first encounter with the Westgate sales agents, we've been fed nothing but lies and false promises, and we want out of this arrangement.

Review complaint

My wife and I booked a weeklong stay at Westgate in Florida, and they invited us to attend a breakfast presentation where someone talked about us potentially purchasing property. This was the beginning of our unfortunate relationship with Westgate. Although we were adamant that we could not afford what they were selling the salesman wouldn’t take no for an answer and brought his manager to put more pressure on us to purchase. My wife and I are elderly and everything that was being thrown at us really frustrated us to the point of accepting an offer just to get them to stop and let us be on our way.We had an incident when we booked another stay with them only to discover that our reservation was actually in Kissimmee Florida. When we finally arrived, our room to our door wouldn’t open. Instead of giving us a different room we had to wait an entire 3 hours before they could fix the door. My wife at the time just had surgery and could not really put strain on it so the door handle not working as it should have been didn’t help my wife’s situation. Westgate doesn’t care for their customers, and they definitely don’t care that their elder customers are subjected to elder abuse and pressured into buying with them. These people have no moral compass and should be avoided. Do not do business with these people.

To prevent others from making same mistake!

I am writing this review because this purchase was based on deceptive sales and significant omissions that influenced my decision. I was invited to attend a timeshare presentation in Orlando, which I was assured would only take an hour. Instead, it lasted six hours! During the sales presentation, I was convinced that buying this timeshare was a great investment opportunity. The sales team promised that the property, situated in a prime Orlando location, had significant potential for appreciation. They assured me that I could rent it out on Airbnb, generating substantial income, with projections suggesting nightly rates over $500 and even up to $1,000 during peak seasons like Christmas and July 4th. Their claims were backed by detailed Airbnb listings they showed and their promise to assist with setting up the property for rental. This was all a lie. To date, this “investment” has cost me $25,000, I have never been able to rent my unit, and I have only taken 1 vacation consisting of 7 nights. Their pitch about the investment aspect was pure fiction as there is no rental market to access. I also learned that I can easily go online and book any Westgate resort I want for FAR LESS than what I am paying to be an owner, disproving their salespeople’s claims that being an owner with Westgate I would have exclusive access to their resorts. The sales presentation was marked by a lack of transparency and aggressive tactics. The Total Interest Percentage was never disclosed, and the sales team used high-pressure strategies, including creating a false sense of urgency about purchasing the second half of the timeshare due to its increased resale value. Their claims about the investment potential were misleading and overly optimistic, failing to reflect the true financial realities. Furthermore, their salespeople omitted information about the right of rescission, leading me to believe the timeshare was a lucrative investment when, in reality, it has been far from it!

ZERO STARS - SCAM

Absolutely terrible experience with this company. They promise you things for attending their time share presentation and then don't deliver when you attend. Biggest waste of time and complete scam. We didn't stay our full vacation at this location because it just wasn't enjoyable after learning everything they promised was a lie. We bailed and went to another hotel because it was never about the money, but the deceptive tactics they use. Stay far away from this one.

Bait & Switch Scam

I booked a trip with Westgate Resort & Spa in Orlando for November 6-10, 2024. On October 26th and 29th, I received voicemails asking me to call back to confirm my package. On October 30th, I returned the call to 800-218-4363 and was informed I had been upgraded to a VIP package, which included a $500 cruise bonus, 30% off restaurants, 50% off Universal Studios tickets, and two free water park tickets, contingent upon my attendance at a timeshare luncheon.I attended the luncheon on November 7th as required. However, when I inquired about the discounted Universal tickets, the staff at the resort claimed they knew nothing about the offer. I then met with a manager, Jeff Dietrich, who had me call the same customer service number from my previous conversation. After verifying that the representative I spoke with was a Westgate employee, I was told that the promotion had sold out. This was in direct contradiction to my earlier conversation, where no mention of availability issues had been made, despite them knowing my arrival date.Jeff spoke to the representative and promised to pull the recording of my October 30th phone call to verify my claims, and he assured me he would contact me once the recording was retrieved. As of now, I have not heard back from Jeff or Westgate.I believe this situation constitutes a bait-and-switch tactic, and I am seeking the Universal tickets I was promised, not for the money but because of the deceptive practices involved. I even ended up leaving the resort early and booking a different hotel for the remainder of my stay due to the distress this caused me.

Westgate Resorts…

Our decision to buy at Westgate Resorts was based on misleading information, outright lies, and promises that have already been broken. What we ended up with is a financial drain that provides no value whatsoever to our family. Five hours of relentless pressure. Every time we said no—and I cannot count how many times we said it—they came back with another offer, supposedly lower prices for smaller units. They would not take no for an answer, and frankly, they wore us down with tactics that I can only describe as predatory. They told us that Westgate resorts were exclusively for owners. This is completely false, and I can prove it. When I tried to book our Orlando property using my timeshare points well in advance, Westgate told me they could not accommodate the request. Yet my wife was able to go online and book the exact same resort through Westgate's public website—not only did she get the reservation, but she got it at a rate that was actually cheaper than what we could access through our supposed "owner benefits." How does that make any sense? The pattern of misrepresentation I have outlined here shows that this contract was obtained through fraud and should be voided immediately. I am hoping Westgate will do the right thing and resolve this without forcing us into expensive and time-consuming legal battles.

No to Westgate Timeshare

I am writing this review to warn others about Westgate. With deceptions and failures, I’ve experienced, it’s clear they misrepresented the value and benefits of their timeshare. The promise of passing the timeshare on to our children without disclosing the inheritance of maintenance fees, coupled with the false assurances that upgrading our unit would increase its value and sale ability, demonstrates a flagrant disregard for honesty and transparency. The constant harassment to purchase additional timeshares, the exorbitant maintenance fees, and the inability to use the timeshare have resulted in nothing but frustration and financial strain. Westgate's portrayal of their timeshare as a prime investment for family vacations has proven to be nothing more than a misleading sales pitch. When we bought the timeshare, we envisioned using it with our family to create amazing memories. However, we quickly realized we weren’t able to use it the way we were told. Vacation dates were rarely available, with most openings falling during the winter months. Westgate presented itself as an investment for family vacations and creating joyful memories, but for my wife and I, it hasn’t lived up to that promise. The constant pressure to buy more timeshares, the difficulty in reselling, the financial strain of maintenance fees, and the inability to use the timeshare have made it clear that it’s better to cut our losses and remove this financial burden rather than pass it on to our kids. When we purchased the timeshare, we were told we could rent it out to help cover this cost, and Westgate would even assist with the process. When we called to inquire about renting it, they informed us that they don’t rent out units or help with the process. It turns out owners are entirely on their own when it comes to renting, with no support or advertising from Westgate. I quickly discovered that renting out a timeshare is far more difficult than they explained during the sales presentation.
