I have been an owner since 2019 and have yet to have a good experience. I am almost certain that Westgate purposely trains their employees to give incorrect information and trick people into buying useless timeshares. When it happened to me, I was put in an extremely loud room intentionally to distract me. Every time I declined an offer from the saleswoman, the price would come down until she brought over her manager who dropped the price again. Both of them literally stood over me and repeated that I would never get the good deal again. Naturally, it was only good right then and there. When it came to the financials, I was only given the down payment and monthly mortgage amount. They deliberately did not tell me about the high interest rate or how much I was really paying once the finance charges were calculated. There is no way that contract would have been signed if I knew the price was more than double the sales price they quoted. If you were going to go with Westgate, be very careful. Question and read everything!
Don’t fall for all the hype from the Westgate sales reps trying to pull a fast one on you with their deceptive double-talk. I only went to their presentation for discounted Disney World tickets and got roped into spending tens of thousands of dollars.Salespeople will tell you how wonderful of an investment their timeshares are and that you can travel all over the world. When my saleswoman found out I was in the U.S on a student visa, she used that to her advantage. She said that if I “owned a property” in this country, it would be easier for my family and I to get visas to stay here permanently. She also told me that I could sell it back to Westgate if I changed my mind or rent it out for extra money. All lies! Even the part about easy access to reservations was a lie. I can never find anything that is available, resorts are always booked solid. I have had this timeshare for over a decade and have been able to use it TWICE.Save your money and take a vacation in the places you want to go without worrying if there will be a unit available. This timeshare is a complete waste of money.
Westgate Resorts is abundant with soulless thieves. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SNAKE OIL! We have been wronged by this predatory company in multiple states at this point. They told us their resorts were private, only for owners, and they made us feel like we were a priority. Still, we found out that you can go online to Booking.com or Expedia and find Westgate Resorts that is less expensive than being an owner with more vacation booking options as non-owners. They told us we had bonus weeks we could use or rent to others to cover our timeshare fees, but we had to pay a fee upfront to sell our weeks to make any money, with no guarantee that they would be sold. They said this was a deeded property we could pass down to our children, but we are just finding out that they will be responsible for paying the maintenance fees forever. The costs have risen at a much higher rate than inflation. These of course are the same fees that they presented as fixed costs. The truth is that they lie about everything to “sell” you; then the omissions will bury you in endless debt for something that has no value. Do you want to know who knows they have no value? The banks. The banks will not refinance because this is NOT REAL ESTATE
My husband and I were on vacation in Branson when we were offered free show tickets from a Westgate representative if we were to take a tour of their resort. Since the representative told us that we would not need to purchase a timeshare, we decided to take him up on his offer. When we arrived the day of the tour, we started the conversation with the representative by telling them that we had no intention of making a purchase. We told him that we rarely vacation and that our home is paid off, so we had ZERO intention of having monthly payments for something that we could not utilize every day. The staff told us that purchasing with Westgate would be a real estate investment and would increase in value the longer we were owners and that the company would pay US to NOT use the timeshare during peak times! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, we have learned that it is NOWHERE NEAR THE TRUTH!! Instead, we are charged additional fees to use the unit during the off-season and anyone can book these rooms straight off the internet WITHOUT a mortgage. When we reached out to them asking to cancel, they just told us that there was nothing that they could do. Do not believe anything this company tells you! They are a total scam!!
If you are going to vacation at Westgate or attend a presentation, I hope you read this beforehand. My wife and I were sucked into a presentation while on vacation that turned into a four hour debacle. Take it from me, do not believe anything they tell you. We got told that we were making an investment that would be easy to resell because the value only goes up, never down. Not true. Once the contract was paid off, we could use the timeshare for the rest of our lives. Partially true. They neglected to mention that we'd still have to pay maintenance fees for the rest of our lives too. Then there were things that were completely left out. Our children will be forced to inherit the timeshare and the maintenance fee responsibility. There are hidden fees for things like just making reservations. Now we are stuck with a timeshare that we don't want that was sold to us with gross misrepresentations. I genuinely hope that this review saves someone else the frustration of what I've been through
They cleaned our room while we were on a tour of westgate we went back and later that night we got dressed to go out my husband’s belt a 400 Louis Vuitton belt was missing and a 160 dollar shirt . The people at westgate don’t give a damn saying there is nothing they can do. I am 😡!
I purchased a package in the beginning 2020. All hell broke loose with COVID and no one was traveling anywhere. I received a postcard reminding me to call and book my package before it expires. I called today to find out that my $99 package was expired and that they would reinstate my package for the low low price of $75.... Literally EVERY SINGLE COMPANY from Delta to Hilton to Marriot has give at least a one yr extension on any of their programs/packages. I expressed my concerns to the robot like employee that I was speaking to and guess what?? Too bad so sad lady "byyyyeeeee"... CLEARLY this company has absolutely zero customer service intentions. Are they really selling so many timeshares that they can afford to alienate a potential buyer? SHAME SHAME SHAME
B. ScottWe unfortunately attended a sales presentation with Westgate in 2018. During this presentation, we were forced to listen to their high-pressure sales spiel for hours upon hours. Walking into this meeting, we had no intention of making a purchase but after being worn down for more than 5 hours, we ultimately gave in. Since that day, every time we have visited one of these resorts, we have been strong-armed into another sales presentation where we are told that we need to purchase more points. We have been told that we were purchasing an investment property, like a vacation home, and that the equity that we had built would convert into earnings. THIS IS ALL A LIE! Once we discovered that this was of no value, we have tried to contact the company to discuss our concerns and cancel, but they just ignore us. STAY FAR AWAY!!
Westgate Resorts? You mean soulless animals that only care about money? Clearly, I am not a fan of theirs. I cannot stand their slimy sales tactics.I booked a really cheap vacation with the requirement of going to a sales presentation. When I got there, I was surprised to find hard plastic chairs, which I was forced to sit in for several hours. I patiently sat through the presentation that was supposed to be about 90- minutes. The salespeople kept offering deals, I’d say NO, and they’d swap out salespeople. Over and over. All of them used the same lies and were extremely rude when told NO. When the salespeople learned that my husband and I were actually separated, they used this as a tactic against us and even told us not to disclose the separation when signing the contract because it would affect the financing. The promise that Westgate would take back the timeshare if we changed our minds was a blatant lie. They do NOT take any timeshares back from owners. The staff left out vital financial information, so neither of us knew what we were paying until being surprised with bills, which were considerably more than disclosed. This whole situation has been an absolute nightmare and they will not let us out even after their dishonesty!!! I guess I should not be surprised. I hope no one reading this gets in to bed with this company because you will regret it.
