!!! AVOID WESTGATE AT ALL COSTS!!! I believe the workers at Westgate only know how to lie to make a sale. First, they told us the presentation was 60 minutes but it lasted 3 HOURS… They also claimed that they were affiliated with Disney and promised we would be able to have access to parks. This was yet another lie. They have told us too many lies we can no longer count them on both hands. Their sales tactics were aggressive. So aggressive, after declining multiple times, we signed just to get out of there. We are paying a ridiculous amount for this timeshare, and it is nearly impossible to book a room. !!! AGAIN… AVOID WESTGATE AT ALL COSTS!!!

We were bullied and lied to by Westgate!

We were bullied and lied to by Westgate into purchasing a timeshare from them. Yes, bullied and lied. They had told us it would be an investment and that the resort is exclusive to members only. They also told us that reservations can be had at my discretion and availability was boundless. All of this was false. This has caused nothing but pain for my pockets. I have been making monthly payments of $313.87 and $545.00 every other year. I have paid in excess of $12,000 and only used my timeshare ONCE. They earned our business through deceptive sales practices, predatory lending, and material omissions. If you are ever approached by someone for Westgate, don’t believe a thing they say.

Westgate time shares are a scam, please do not fall in it.

Westgate only cares about money and not the wellness of their customers. They have been ignoring me and not remotely empathetic of my concerns about their company. They seem to have lots to hide as well. If they had nothing to hide, why did they rush us through the signing of our contract? Why did they conveniently fail to disclose the important facts of owning a timeshare? If this company has nothing to hide, they will not mind responding to me, in writing of course because I can no longer trust anything they say. They have betrayed my trust and cheated me and my late husband out of $20,000 plus interest, as well as a never-ending black hole of fees. We got into our first contract with Westgate when we purchased a week at their resort for $795.00 We came back in 2017 and were scammed into purchasing a timeshare week with promises of endless vacations, bonus weeks that we could sale for a profit. We were promised getting paid for referrals, we sent friends and family and never got a penny. When we came back in 2019 to use our week, we were invited to the premium breakfast again, and were scammed into purchasing the other half of our apartment. They got us into a new contract, a new mortgage at a interest rate of 17.99% The biggest hit for me was that, when we got into both contracts we purchased mortgage insurance. When my husband passed away in 2020, I sent a claim to the insurance company, and their answer was that the only one covered in the contract was me. How come there were three owners who signed those contracts, me, my husband and my daughter and the only one covered was me!! That was the last straw. I called them, explained the situation, asked them if I they could buy back the properties, I did not care the money I already lost, I just did not want the compromise. They would not help. When you purchase a house and the bank has a mortgage on your house, they can foreclose on the house. Why these timeshares are not the same? When you purchase a car, and cannot pay for it, the car is taken back. Why can Westgate take the property back? Because the property is not yours, it is a lie!! Please do not get into this scam anymore. There should be a law that reviews these scams. What they are doing to people is criminal.

False Hope

I hope this review reaches people in time to save you from wasted money and time like our time and money has been wasted by Westgate Resorts. We are writing a negative review for a few reasons. First, we were lied to about how much our monthly payments would be. The most important reason we are complaining is because we have not been able to properly use our timeshare as so-called owners. The only thing we own is debt. When we signed, there was a $300.00 down payment and we thought we would have this paid off in no time! Our payments in the beginning were high and have been different each month. August 2015 our payments was $390.00. September and October 2015 our payments was $388.00 on both months. From November 2015 to present day, our payment have been $188.26 monthly. Between January 2016 and December 2020, a total of $11,040.00 had been paid on what was supposed to be $10,200.00. That does not include the annual maintenance fee, or any payment made in 2021.In the five years we have "owned" this timeshare, we have never received an actual contract with details regarding additional terms or fees. There was no provided Truth in Lending statement, nor advisement of our right to cancel the contract with a recession period. We were told this was investment and quite frankly it is quite the opposite. This has become a total financial burden after learning about all the hidden fees!

We know it's a timeshare however the…

We know it's a timeshare however the price was amazing so we agreed to do a tour for the that price. Suddenly westgate calls us and tells us we can't book as we bought a week and toured with them in 2002. Here's the catch it wasn't us. They had our names but wrong addresses and wrong information. Someone impersonated us and they just up and canceled our reservation.

Bad experience

When I saw an ad on social media for a 3 night trip to a Westgate Resort for $100, I should have realized it was too good to be true! I knew that we would need to go on a tour of the resort for about 45 minutes, but we had NO IDEA that we would not be given rooms there. When we arrived, we learned that we were actually staying at a totally separate hotel in downtown Gatlinburg. This should have been a red flag, but we continued on with the weekend. The tour was nowhere close to the 45 minutes we were promised – instead, we were forced to spend over EIGHT HOURS with their sales staff!! We had our small children with us and instead of letting us leave when they started to get fussy, they just gave them iPads to keep them occupied. We finally just agreed to one of their continuous offers so that we could leave, and our kids could rest. The staff went through the contract as fast as possible, never showing us any truth in lending documents, told us the interest rate on the loan, or told us that there was a cancellation period. Had we known there was one, we DEFINITELY would have used it! Since we returned home, we have been upset and unsettled about this purchase and now we are stuck, and Westgate will do nothing to help us!!

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. We went to Miami Florida on a boat tour. They told us on the boat we had won a raffle and got 8 days 7 night vacation free. We just had to give Westgat 90 mins to tell us about time shares. Turns out the trip seems to be bogus. Total waste of time!

Bad Westgate Time share experience

In August 2018, we were vacationing in Las Vegas and attended what was supposed to be a 90-minute timeshare presentation at MGM Grand…it ended up taking three hours. Two representatives kept asking if we wanted to buy, but we declined. It was a high-pressure pitch and we ended up purchasing a two-bedroom villa. There was no financing, just a down payment and a monthly payment on the mortgage as well as annual maintenance fees, however the RCI fees were never discussed along with several other non-disclosed fees. We were told that this timeshare could be passed down to our children, but we found out later that they would be responsible for the annual fees, which constantly increase. Our salesperson also told us that we could sell it if we wanted. This was completely believable at the time because they said they were selling us a traded in unit from someone who no longer wanted to be an owner. We’ve recently learned that timeshares have no resale value and there is no buyback program through Westgate, hence this negative review. The salespeople were aggressive, unrelenting, and untruthful. We never planned on buying in to a timeshare and haven’t even booked a single vacation yet BECAUSE NOTHING IS EVER AVAILABLE. Don’t believe anything they tell you. Everything we were told was a lie!
