Scam, American tourist should avoid!!

I sent all the information they requested and they denied me saying my ID was less than 1 yr. Ok I just renewed it so I sent a photo of the last one. Then they ask me to send a photo of me holding my license and a piece of paper that says Zipcar and date, ODD request but I sent it then they say imaged blurred send again. They will say this again and again until you run out of time and give up. I sent 4 different photos none of them blurry!! It's a scam bc they charge 13$ for the application you won't be approved for!!

Rip off and unhygienic

The last two times I've booked a ZipCar I had very bad experiences. The first car I booked wouldn't start, the electrics in the vehicle were not working. I booked another vehicle instead and they charged me for both. I had to call to get the first one refunded.The last time, which was on 22 August 2023, the vehicle was so dirty inside and smelt so badly of smoke that I had to wash my clothes after being inside the vehicle. I called ZipCar and told them, they said they couldn't give me any refund.I would rather walk 100 miles in 90 degree heat than give this company any more money. In my experience they do not care about customers or customer experience.

Easy to rent, no visiting a location and talking person to person . Convenient location and Zipcar covers the gas.

I’m giving 2 stars only because the Customer Service people at Zipcar are wonderful and really tried to help. Basically, don’t depend on Zipcar for major important trips. Their equipment might not be in working order. Great for groceries.

LOCKED ME OUT MY ACCOUNT DAY IF TRIP

Booked a car week in advance everything was fine till the day of the trip can’t sign into my account can’t unlock the car & website keeps saying it down but when I called no one knew what was going on. I sent screenshots to the staff I reset my password over 20xs & still unable to use the app without my card. Use to be a great company now it sucks

Zipcar is NOT what they use to be

Zipcar is NOT what they use to be. I've been a .ember for many years now and ziocar doesn't give a damn about its customer base. I'll be so happy when another service like zipcar comes alone and push them out. Zipcar has turned into a real not so nice company. Over the years I've returned cars with 20 and 30 minutes left on the rental, I've pay for several cabs cause the car wasn't there. I returned a car 6 or 7 minutes late and was charged $70 and no one was waiting for car. Not even $70 is not appropriate for 7 minutes late and NO ONE is waiting for the car. Zipcar is FOS. Zipcar doesn't record how many times you've returned a car with 20 30 even 40 minutes left. Zipcar gives you NOTHING back but I don't ask. But have sympathy for those that are loyal to your company but no zipcar wants to figure a way to ram it up your rear end. Loved this company once but its going to hell fast. Please do not waste my time with that generated response. I've already know the outcome. I'm switching to Turo. Zipcar go F@CK yourself. I'm going to make sure my 5 other family members with Zipcar delete their accounts also. Another ride share will come along soon. Zipcar underwear has gotten too big. They say f@ck the little man that keeps the company afloat. Customer service ain't worth a hill of bean. They can't do a damn thing.

Is there a zero stars

Is there a zero stars? There should be, if only to exist for Zipcar and their abhorrent treatment of their customers. Basically a few months back I had rented a car to get to and from a job in West Palm Beach (I live in Fort Lauderdale, 50 miles south). The last day of the job I had been delayed because of the weather and was leaving the job site about 20 mins before the rental was due back in Ft L. I had to deposit cash at CVS to put on a card to pay for an extension as to not be penalized. Long story short, there was an issue with the card as they were tolls and the card company flagged it for fraud. I pulled over to try and sort it out but in the midst of it, abruptly at 11’pm, the support chat signed off. I was told to call, I did, and the girlTried to help me but couldn’t change my card; said I had to talk to a specialist. Was put on hold for 30 minutes and then hung up on. I tried calling back but no answered. At this point Zipcar had remotely disabled the car so i couldn’t drive it back. And then my phone died. So they left me stranded in a parking lot ALL NIGHT. I had to sleep in the car. Then in the morning I walked to the burger king nearby to plug in my phone and I had a message from zipcar saying that “they hadn’t heard from me” and so they were sending someone to recover the vehicle because I was “unable” to. So they did…with all of my tools in the trunk…and left me there, in the parking lot I had been stranded in all night, with no way to get home. Plus, they wanted me to pay for the tow all the way back to Miami. It took me 11 hours to get home. They towed the car to Miamj and left all my tools and things at the Avis by Miami Airport, which is virtually inaccessible without a vehicle. So I had no vehicle, my livelihood was stuck in an office in Miami, and so I couldn’t work or get around. Finally about a month later i was able to secure a uhaul to drive down there to get my tools…which I did, except my most expensive drill was missing as well as a folding table. And when I brought this up to customer support (who of course had closed my account by this time because that’s what they do when faced with an issue), I basically got a shrug as a result, saying that it must’ve been stolen before Zipcar had taken the car. Which is absolute BS as I was with the vehicle up until that point. So to say this company is negligent is almost too kind. They deliberately chose to force me into a situation where I was stranded, abandoned, and robbed—all by their hand—and wanted me to pay for it. Stay away from them or they will do the same to you.This isn’t over Zipcar. Just you wait and see.

It's a rip-off. They didn't approve my application for an unclear reason and didn't refund my money. Still trying to get my money back.
