Absolutely same brilliant experience as Owais' (see his post below). The choice is vast. We have fitted 9 windows already, and have three more that we are in the process of ordering. We will probably end up having more items at home than in they have in their show room! The sales team (Charlotte, Sebble) was so helpful.Then came the measurement. We were not completely ready, but no fuss, Richard took the time needed.To give you an example of customer service - once the windows installed, Ally/1st Folding called and said they wanted to replace one of the windows. The fitters had noticed that on one window, there was a defect. It was so small, that I had not even noticed the defect! They said it didn't matter that I could not see it. They knew it was there and so would fix it. Wow, brilliant. And for good measure, the team of fitters are friendly, polite, super competent, and leave a spotless workplace when finished. And of course, the products are beautifully crafted and assembled. That goes without say.So yes, highly recommended!
I found out about 1st Sliding Doors online and then was separately recommended it via our builder and then I found out a friend of mine (who also did a full house reno) ended up using them so I am lucky that I saw the finished results from a friend before I bought. Our final order was: 1. Frameless Window Box Seat (Oriel window). 2. Aluminium Cladding (below the Oriel window) 3. Sliding doors with a flush floor finish between inside and out and 20mm sightline - this is the thinnest in the market. These are 3000mm high. 4 / 5. Tilt and turn x2 with a handle that tucks into the frame! - there is no other tilt and turn windows on the market that i've found like this. 6 / 7. Glass balustrade for the tilt and turn windows x2 (these fit in frameless looking out) 8. Fixed lightwell 2735 x1497 - in one piece of glass. 9. Frameless glass roof 6305 x 1540 which is 4 pieces of glass completely flush with 3 silicon joints 10. Fixed lightwell 1194 x 1700 - one piece of glass. 11. Fixed lightwell 1400 x 1190 - one piece of glass. We were spending a lot of money so I spent time driving to vendors across the south east to make sure I understood what I was buying - here are some learnings: 1. 1st Sliding Doors have some items that other vendors can't produce or are not comfortable doing - and from what I understand there are others products coming out. These guys are innovating. 2. They know their stuff. I grilled Marcus a lot about UV values (heat efficiency) and thickness of glass, etc. If you're buying - ask your vendor about this and compare it to 1st Sliding.. 3. They are competitive on price - I've got quotes from other vendors and Marcus' prices are what you would expect to pay. 4. They're good people. Marcus is defo a character who I trust and like. When Richard came to site he was super friendly and explained everything I needed. He also supports Arsenal.... nobody is perfect :) I've read some of the others reviews here.. I agree with the responsiveness.. but here's the thing - they're sometimes unresponsive because they're so busy - i've been to the showroom and seen how many orders they're fulfilling. I have done most of my calls with Marcus post 1900 - and I also came to visit his workshop with the team then at 1930. This suits me as I've got a day job. Overall you should 100% speak to them if you're getting any bespoke glazing done.
First Folding Sliding doors have supplied bi-fold doors for my home plus a rental property that I own and on both occasions they have been absolutely wonderful to deal with. Knowledgable, trustworthy, hardworking and reliable. The bi-fold doors are excellent quality and when we have needed after sales care they have been happy to help! I would highly recommend this company and wouldn’t go anywhere else!
I cannot recommend these guys enough! I was so super happy with not only the customer service but also the quality of the product on our previous house 5 years ago. We decided to use them on our latest project that was a very large project, rebuilding the whole house. We used Marcus and his guys for everything, from Sliding external “Crittle style” doors (3 sets), 3.2 meter long picture window (shows off stunning views) Sash windows, and casement windows, sliding french Juliet balcony doors, not to forget our beautiful internal “Crittal style” sliding doors that have a pocket wall built round them, the track was all built into the screed and it was perfectly flush with the tiled floor (this of which was all advised by Marcus) He communicated directly with my building so the levels were spot on! Even the Utility door we purchased through them! As a mum of 3 managing the project (while hubby’s working) you can feel quite vulnerable getting quotes, some were extortionate, but these guys really looked after us and I honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else if (hopefully we won’t be) we ever didn’t another project! The other great thing about this company is that before you even start your build, they will come put and give you ideas about glazing (they see and do so many different styles houses) it’s not just modern design, ours is a very New England style house and their products compliment our home so nicely! Really really pleased. Excellent product - we had all the windows in the house replaced, and bifold doors installed at the back, and I found everyone that I was in contact with at 1stfolding to be really helpful (both in the office and on-site), and more than willing to go the extra mile. And to think that everything was done during the strange circumstances of 2020 makes it even more remarkable. Thank you all!
1st Folding Sliding Doors installed the windows in our house a few years ago, and they were big plain ones. We decided last year that we would like to change the look of the windows, to opt for a georgian/astragal bar look. Given 1st folding had installed the windows, we reached out to the company in October 2020, and were told this is something they would be able to do.They sent a surveyor and we got a quote in mid nov. We then called to get the drawings to make sure we knew what the windows would look like, and were told that the measurements has been lost. And then we were told that the job was too difficult and to do it would cost up to twice as much as the initial quote. I was puzzled and disappointed, but agreed with the higher quote. After calling and chasing multiple times, we were sent another surveyor in Jan 2021 who redid the measurements, and we were told that we would get the drawings in a couple of days.Its been almost a month, and I have called regularly almost every week to inquire, and every time I am given some implausible excuse why I haven’t received the quote or any other information. My biggest frustration is had they told us honestly they couldn’t/wouldn’t do the job, I would not have wasted the last 3 months waiting for them.So overall deeply disappointed by the lack of responsiveness and customer service.
I am surprised at reading some of the reviews on this page as I have used 1st Folding Doors on two occasions and both times they have been excellent from initial survey all the way to installation and aftercare. Marcus is a charming lovely man who is very experienced in knowing what a customer wants and delivers it within good timescales. I had the front of my house revamped in Dec 2019 with the classy Origin windows and internal blinds as well as a solid Aluminium door with bespoke porch window frames all in Anthracite Grey ( I first saw the windows on a house which looked amazing when on my daily walk and asked who the installer was and given the details). I have had nothing but polite and courteous conversations with the Sales Manager Ali who is an absolute delight to talk with and full of helpful information. Thanks to lockdown I decided to build an outhouse to accommodate my office space and things were quite rushed due to the bad weather in Nov 2020 but Danny managed to measure and check that the doors would be flushed to floor level when installed. I had the Origin bifold doors with internal blinds on both sides of the outhouse which were ordered and installed within a very quick timeframe and look wonderful. I have had several people on a daily basis stop and look at the front of my house when on their daily walks during lockdown and ask me which company I used and I highly recommend these guys every time. I don't understand some of the negative reviews by customers who say that they had poor communication because both Marcus and Danny give out their mobiles and are very contactable and I have always managed to get hold of them. Excellent company highly recommend them for the quality and value for money.
I found this company on Instagram wile I was looking though some pics and liked the look of the doors I contacted them an right away Danny come back to me with a date for coming to site to look at the job , everything went well he was so helpful giving me advice on what would be best and what’s best having children xtra , so I went ahead an paid the deposit for the 20 m virtually frameless sliding doors , yesterday they was finished everything went so smoothly and amazing I am so happy the fitters was fantastic an immaculate workers my builder that I am using for my house said the work was perfect and he is very fussy he said he would defiantly be using 1st sliding doors again on any future projects , i am actually so happy as I only found 1st sliding doors online and everything went so perfect the quality is amazing too everyone loves them that sees them thanks so much x
We had a meeting with 1st Folding Sliding Doors 6 weeks ago after having had provided them with architect drawings and them giving us a quote. We booked site survey for the following week and were told we would have drawings of our two french doors and roof glazing (lean to). Since then, it was such a struggle for them to provide us with drawings of our plans. It was always a ‘they will be emailed tomorrow’. They would then send partial drawings…another week of calling and asking for full drawings. Drawings then were sent with the wrong details…more chasing on our part…complaints emails were sent and manager didn’t even bother replying until eventually we posted our feedback on Instagram and we were IMMEDIATELY blocked, we then got a phone call to try and work things out. That was a 7 days ago and still NOTHING!! This now means that I will have to go back to the drawing board finding a new supplier and will push our project back 6 weeks and will have a massive knock on effect of delays. When doing a project we all know that TIME IS MONEY and this has now cost us dearly (rent plus mortgage as we are not living in the property). They will probably blame this on COVID delays…but this goes beyond that. This is a typical issue of OVER PROMISING (to get your business) AND NOT DELIVERING. If it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is…particularly with this company. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. They talk the talk but can’t deliver.
