Review Time
visited the showrooms on 3rd September 2021 and promptly arranged a site visit which happened. We then repeatedly chased for quotes to no reply. When they were sent they were repeatedly wrong. Finally able to pay sizeable first deposit once quotes correct. Waited a few months, periodically chasing, to no reply. Site visit happened again and all measurements were taken from scratch. Was informed that nothing had happened to our order in the meantime. Chased for quotes & were sent wrong repeatedly. Finally placed order.Complete silence from the head office. Every time I chased for an installation date I got the same one line stock reply. Even if they had been human and said they were sorry but it was difficult times it would have been better than being made to feel like a total inconvenience. People also only replied to emails once I cc’d their bosses in which is so depressing. Doors and windows finally installed on Feb 15th 2022, 5 months later. 3 glass panels were made to the wrong size despite the huge wait and two site visits. Sent several emails to head office explaining what had happened - no replySpoke to someone in office who explained new glass would be made - no apology at all, but promised it would be expedited and be done within a week. Two had been scratched during install. Sent an email complaining. First time I have complained during this whole process despite non existent customer serviceReceived a reply. No apology but having a go at me for questioning their customer service and asking me to send photos of scratchesSent photos - no reply.Chased up via email one week later, no replyFinally got a reply with a new installation date two weeks later ( three weeks from date when we were promised it would be done in one week ) again no apology for delays in replies, for windows being made to wrong size, for scratched windows and our house being left in a mess - just a blunt few lines in an email about new installation date.Three weeks later Fitters Daniel and Jen came with the new windows and were great but instead of the two replacement windows and 3 panels for the door they had been given the 3 door panels twice and no other windows. They also hadn’t been briefed on the extent of the job so didn’t have all the parts they needed. We were left with no trickle vent so there was a gap to the outside , expandable foam showing, two scratched windows, unfinished sill and surround and door not opening or closing properly. Dan and Jen were very apologetic which made a nice change as no one else has said sorry. The fitters reassured me that the missing two windows were ordered again along with all the other needed parts and that it would only be a week. I emailed 1st doors twice (to 5 different email addresses ) explaining that the order was wrong again and asking if we could have Dan and Jen for the next and hopefully final fit! - no one replied to either emails. When we did get a reply it was someone we hadn’t heard from before who was helpful and finally said sorry, but we were told it would be a month before next visit unless they could bring it forward. We replied explaining how we didn’t feel a month again was acceptable and asking if someone could at least come and fix the windows so we didn’t have a hole to the outside world and visible expandable foam everywhere - no reply. We followed up with an extensive list of everything that needed to be done / ordered / fixed so that the next visit would hopefully be the last. We also requested that all glass be inspected before loading on to the van so we don’t get scratched glass again.Fitters turned up on 9th April. We weren’t given a time and had been waiting to hear if we could have a date that wasn’t a Saturday as Saturdays are really inconvenient to us - only to have them show up to our surprise on a Saturday afternoon. Good job we were in.One pane of glass was scratched again. They will have to come back. Again. Seven months, three fitting visits and it’s still not complete.
Although the lead time was 10-12 weeks, my glazing wasn’t installed for 14 weeks, my own fault as I paid the deposit but did not state which colour I would like, the day of installation arrived and my glazing was installed, the doors and windows look fabulous, it is now warmer and more peaceful in my home, So glad that I chose 1st Folding, Sliding doors, would recommend them for all glazing that you may require.
We recently did a kitchen extension and bought our origin bi-folds from 1st Folding Doors and got really good service from them. From our first visit to their showroom to the survey and then the installation, we were very happy with our experience. I would recommend 1st Folding Doors!
The 3 star is the slightly above the two average votes that I'd give the company. The product is EXCELLENT. 1st folding has a combination of 5 doors and windows for us. All non-standard with an impressive almost 3m high door. All look fantastic and we're very pleased - a top 5 star. So why the 3 star rating? The fitting service (and follow-ups_ - or complete lack thereof for the last door. Over a period of 8 months 4 different fitters came with wrongly sized doors, frames and don't know what... It was then finally fitted in a few hours by Jenny and Daniel who did a fantastic job. They took the time to check before they left the warehouse that they had everything they needed (and probably a couple of extras), apologised on behalf of the company when they arrived and then got to work. All very expertly done. I'm convinced if they had been given the job the first time around it'd have done the first time around and I would have given a sold 5-star rating. I would certainly recommend the product as for the service it's very up and down. I think they need to add a couple of people in the office with good client servicing background.
No matter how many years have passed, 1st Folding, will come and sort an issue out, even if it is probably not the fault of their work. Our sliding doors fitted in 2018 were not running as well as they should. There was absolutely no hesitation, or quibble they sent a team out to resolve the issue. This to me, is a sign of a great company. It is easy to sing high praise of a company that has just completed the work, but the test of time, is the true indicator, to whether your contractor, is as good as you hope they are. Can't recommend them highly enough and we are beyond happy, with how well the doors are now running. Great support, from the office to the guys on site. Thanks again.
We purchased a frameless lantern and frameless box window from 1st Folding. I have included the not so good, and the good and the great below: The not so good:- The company does have staffing issues (like most industries at the moment) and communication (through the official channels) is a challenge.- The lead time was fairly sizeable from deposit to installation. A lot of it is out of the company's control such as getting materials into the country, etc but you can't help but think they may benefit themselves and their customers by putting a hold on taking orders until they can fulfil the backlog. The good and great:- The finished article is extremely impressive. We are super happy with the end result and everything has been finished to a really high standard. The product itself does represent value for money.- I want to make a special mention for Danny who ended up giving me his personal number to get round the communication difficulties I had been having. If it hadn't been for him, we would still be waiting for our glazing to be fitted and I am very grateful for his hard work and effort. I hope his department is recruiting to take some pressure off his back!- Ally the surveyor was also very knowledgeable and was a big help onsite making sure everything was in order for fitting.- Both fitters also did a great job, ensuring they turned up on time and worked hard to get everything fitted well within the allocated time. Again the finish was of high quality and we are really happyAll in all, very happy with the final result and the effort to keep moving things along was worth it in the end. Thanks again to Danny for getting things over the line!
Ordered window and patio doors in Spring/Summer 2021. Installation started and is still not finished. Window without a handle to open or vents fitted. Other small issues with the quality of parts and fitting. Most importantly, patio doors that don't lock - was fixed once but discovered they still weren't locking. Not happy with quality of products, fitting or resolution. On the plus side, they look as good as any I looked at.
I came across this company back in 2015 when they fitted 2 sets of bifold doors on the rear of my property. They were an excellent company and their after service was quality. I have just finished a major make over on my property, and I wanted sliding doors to the rear of my property and sliding doors to the loft . Marcus was my go to, he made my dreams come to life, and his professionalism is outstanding. This company does not need to advertise, because as a glazing company they are brilliant with super products with returning customers as norm. They managed to do a 10.5m run of sliding doors over only 3 doors, which is a lot of glass, but their invisible profiles they use is outstanding. If I ever need anymore glazing, 1stfoldingslidingdoors is my go to and it should be everyones go to, because they can fulfil your dreams with anyshape and anysize glass at a good price without compromising on the top integrity of the product they only use. Many Thanks MarcusRegards Brijesh
