I recently visited Aldi’s new store and was genuinely impressed. The layout was clean and easy to navigate, staff were friendly and helpful, and the selection of products was excellent for the price. Everything felt fresh and well-stocked, and checkout was quick and efficient. It made my weekly shop feel less like a chore and more like a pleasant outing. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Be warned the pea and ham soup has steadily got less and less ham to the point you can't even find it. It's in the specially selected range and the picture is a total misrepresentation of the actual product being sold. We won't be buying it anymore. This happened with the nut bars. We've stopped buying those too.
Most recently, a shelf label clearly advertised "Battered Cod" for £2.89 and was placed directly below two full boxes marked “Battered Cod” in large white letters. Yet at the till, I was charged £3.75 — because the boxes had been filled with “Beer Battered Cod,”. I was told that it was a different product despite no other cod being available on the shelf and no blank space for it to have been in.On the same visit, I skipped buying strawberries because the shelf labels didn’t match the products above them. I raised my concern with the CEO of Aldi and received an apology, along with the response: “The product should be sold at the price that it is scanned through the till.”So beware — at Aldi, the accuracy or position of shelf labels doesn’t seem to matter, even when they clearly mislead customers into making purchases they might not otherwise make. If the scanned price is higher, that’s what you’ll pay — especially if you don’t spot it in the checkout operators race to process your purchases.I have noticed this problem before and it has eroded my trust in Aldi. It shows a lack of due diligence and leaves customers misled — and potentially overcharged without even realising it.Hollow words and empty promises: In their response to me Aldi claimed: "As soon as a Store Manager knows that a price card is wrong, they will go and change it." Nearly 48 hours after I informed Aldi of the problem I revisited the store and exactly the same deption was still being presented to customers. Given the lack of corrective action, the only logical conclusion Is that this pricing confusion is intentional to mislead customers into paying more for their shopping than they intended to.
Me and my friends went into Aldi last week, we walked around the store around 4 or 5 times as we were looking for a can of monster energy drink. The security guard starting following us, walked up to my friend's and stuck his hand into their pockets. He then kicked us all for no reason whatsoever, I can say for a fact that me and my friends caused no problems nor did we shoplift we just wanted that one drink. Disgusted by the behavior of that security guard, they aren't allowed to touch us nevermind touch us without permission. Forgot to mention that none of them have even been in that Aldi before.
Aldi London Road Brighton refit unfit for disabled peopleIv been using the store since it came to Brighton. However they had a refit and forgot about the actual disabled people who use the trolleys. They have taken the trolley away for the drag baskets. I'm disabled and find this impossible to use. For people who are unable to bend down and come ordinate the new system is all about the students and the real people like myself have been totally ignoredLooking like I'll use another storeThey have copied Co op over the road.
I have been a loyal Aldi customer for over 20 years, shopping daily, but my experience at the Banbury store on 15 September 2025 was completely unacceptable. While using the self-service tills to purchase four jacket potatoes, a staff member, whom I believe is named Halleit, aggressively interfered despite my polite explanations. She refused to step aside, humiliated me in front of other shoppers, and treated me like a criminal. Another staff member later behaved in the same unprofessional and rude manner. I was on a call at the time, and my partner listening via headphones was shocked at the way I was treated. I left the store without buying anything due to the sheer intimidation and disrespect. This is not the first time I have experienced appalling service at this location. On a previous occasion, a customer with limited English was treated terribly by the till staff, and despite my complaint on Trustpilot, Aldi failed to respond. The repeated failures at this store show a serious lack of staff training and disregard for customers. After 20 years of loyalty, I am done with Aldi Banbury. I will take my money to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, or anywhere else that values customers. Aldi urgently needs to address staff behavior at this store.Absolutely shocking.
