High praise for Cadent engineers.

I thought I could smell gas in my porch, where the gas meter is and a Cadent van had parked outside my house. I approached the driver and mentioned it to him. He was attending another address a couple of doors away and said he would call as soon as he had done the survey at the other address. I wasn’t sure whether he would, but sure enough he came and used a meter which did detect an escape which he phoned to report.Our house was then checked thoroughly and a replacement part was put onto the joint at the meter.There were two engineers and both were very helpful and sorted the problem out quickly and efficiently.The job no was 3004175811 and the names of the engineers were Wayne and Mo - employee no 60000018. Many thanks once again to the helpful engineers from Cadent.

Very poor service

Very poor service. Paid for an alteration. They altered the pipe but left 600mm too high. Contacted cadent loads of times about this but nobody ever responds. Waiting to speak to a manager now before taking this to the ombudsman. The surveyor allocated to my job is absolutely useless and is totally incompetent.

Great Service

I had my boiler serviced,and the plumber said the gas pressure was low ,and turned the gas off Cadent was contacted and an engineer was here in less than l hour,the engineer was Ian Morris,....what a friendly,professional chap he was, explained everything and sorted my problem ,great service.

no communication apart from word of…

no communication apart from word of mouth,entrance to drive dug up and left for several days with no signs of being refilled after the work is completed while they happily dig up more of the road, it was just by pure chance i was in when they wanted to turn the gas off as no communication what so ever ,no idea what would have happened if i would have been at work for a professional company the management is very poor ,a letter sent a month in advance seems to them that they have kept you fully informed and to be at their beck and call.

Reference Number 32949714Our Job Ref: 130024357New Service to existing premises.Dear Cadent Gas,Thank you very much to all the team involved on the gas installation to my property back in 27/07/2020.I would like to pass on my appreciation for all your hard work and planning on this project.My observations.....very professional, polite, friendly and humoured workforce, enthusiastic coordinated team work by a bunch of people who really look like they’re happy and enjoy their job.Behind that careful planning on a very difficult task in a cul de sac with cars and neighbours to negotiate requiring both excellent diplomacy and communication skills.Special thank you to Tommy and his colleague who conducted the site survey on the Friday to mark up the road and pavement, the chap who I spoke to on the Sunday looking after traffic management, the project manager in the Ford Kuga, all the young guys involved in manual work digging etc, the mechanical digger operators (Tommy etc), the awesome Mercedes Benz Excavator & Operator, KLT Engineering, FERNS Engineering in particular the team of 3 guys who worked tirelessly on the Sunday in 34C heat resurfacing and tarmacking the road and pavement. Thank you also to the reinstatement team who while I was out magically put everything back at the front of my house as it was. I know there was lots of other support involved too to thank ie the guys who brought in the generator for example.Well done to all I’m very very happy. I’m so glad and appreciative that I now have a gas supply to my house so I no longer dread the winter freezing in a home with horrible electric storage heaters. Thank you very very much. Cadent is a scam. They took my money and just disappeared.

Cadent quoted me an extortionate amount of money for a meter move. They need all the money well in advance before providing any services! So be it, signed up and paid. However, the maximum time by which they must visit my site has come and gone. Not only that they haven't showed up yet, they haven't even bothered to communicate what's happening. Customer service just keep saying someone will ring back soon to explain dates, but no one bothers. It's as if I am asking them for a favour, while the fact is that they took all the money up-front, refuse to do the work and left me in the dark.My ref # 0032994382

I could smell gas at my property, called Cadent. There were here within half an hour. Dave talked me through what he would be doing, very thorough , felt safe. Lovely guy, very happy with service.

£1600 - Poor Value for Money

Long story short. Cadent disconnecting our gas supply prior to the demolition of our property took them less than an hour and cost us over £1600. It was the worst value-for-money transaction I've ever paid for. I strongly urge you to shop around if you need a disconnection.The long story. We were quoted over £1600 to disconnect our gas supply and we were given the impression that it would involve halting traffic and digging up the road, which is clearly a lot of work. We were told (in error as we later found out) that if the work was easier we would be due a refund. So we paid. They sent someone around to do a survey of our site prior to the works day.On the works day they sent a man in a van to site to deploy traffic lights. He was there from 7 am. At 10 am the workmen turn up, take a look around and decide that it's too difficult to deploy traffic lights. So what was the point of the survey if not to work that out beforehand? They then try and decide what to do. My wife told them that they could cut the pipe in the ditch just off our property. So, following her suggestion, they dug a hole in the bottom of the ditch and capped off the pipe. Job done in less than an hour, and everyone, including the traffic light man (who had been sat doing nothing for four hours) drive off. Cost? £1600. Ouch!We complained to Cadent via their wecare email address, only to be told by return email that they had "closed the complaint on our behalf". Needless to say we were fuming, a prime example of customer service at its worst.We complained to the Ombudsman who, after reviewing the case, decided that there was no case to answer since the prices are fixed and published. Which is fine, but if you are quoted a price of £1600 you sort of expect to get £1600 worth of value out of the deal. I don't feel that this was the case here. Cadent offered £50 for the error about 'reducing the bill' but we refused to accept it. As I said at the time, it felt like the school bully taking your money and then giving a smirking "sorry" when they got caught.If you can avoid using Cadent I would. Both in terms of value for money and customer service their performance in our case was a definite one star. Whilst they did a decent job of cutting the gas main, there is no way on Earth that it was worth £1600. You have been warned!

Scammers, time wasters, liars and zero communication. Waiting 2 months to refund my money for connection they never did and they never refund my money back. Stay away from this “company”. They don’t deserve even one star review!!!
