Review Time
I was given a courtesy car by my insurance company. AA and Axa. Excellent service from both. My courtesy car was booked to be delivered at 12 midday. Through the morning, they changed it to 12-2. At 12.30, they told me between 5 and 6. It arrived at 6.10. It was dark, and I was asked to agree the one fault they told me about. My son videoed the car, and I did the same before I drove it the next day.The collection was scheduled for Wednesday, after calling them, to be told they couldn’t do it that day, they were “too busy”. The AA called them, told them there was no longer room on my drive for their car. No collection that day. On Thursday, I had a text giving me a time slot. Thank fully, the car was collected within that time slot. I couldn’t fault the gentleman who collected it.
I booked a car through Norwegian/CarTrawler for a fixed price of 649 DKK.At the counter in Gatwick, the agent simply asked if an “Audi automatic instead” was okay.Nothing was said about any upgrade fee.When I returned the car (full tank, no damage, even earlier than scheduled), I received a bill over 600 GBP higher than the agreed price — based on a “Customer Choice” product I was never told about.Europcar claims I “accepted” it simply because I signed the standard pickup paperwork.No verbal explanation. No disclosure. No choice.My advice:Be extremely careful with Europcar Gatwick.Nothing is explained, and you may end up with massive charges you never agreed to.This was a deeply disappointing and misleading experience.
Was provided a vehicle as temp whilst mine went into the garage to get repairs. Vehicle was provided with almost 100% tank of fuel, vehicle was returned with the same. Received photos of the offhire with full tank of fuel. 3 days later £25.78 was taken from my account to cover 'fuel' still haven't received this after sending evidence. The company clearly scams many customers and should really be shut down. Financial Ombudsman contacted
Excellent customer service from Europcar at Birmingham airport this weekend. Quick and simple check in, even with my Spanish driving licence! Excellent clean vehicle with full tank. All staff were exceptionally friendly and made the whole experience easy and very pleasant. Consistent excellent customer service and vehicles.
I was told that when my rental car would be delivered it would be full of fuel. I was also told that it had to be returned full of fuel. I had to give my bank details so Europecar could take a £1 deposit. When the car arrived it absolute stank of stale cigarette smoke & the front was covered in tobacco ( which I complained about ). When the car was returned it was FULL of fuel. A number of days later Europecar took £32 from my bank account for fuel costs. I was never advised of the complaint I raised regarding the smell & tobacco. I have since learnt that the company is well known for doing this! AVOID AT ALL COST - they will rob you…
Horrible service. They charged me 175euro in tenerife because of some outside dirty. They did also charge for an existing mark outside the car which unfortunately i forgot to take photo of it ( also the agent in the airport told me about that mark but they still charged me). I almost lost my flight because 3 people at the counter couldn't help a few people in a efficient way. after few emails they decided to ignore me and don't answer anymore. As a travel agent I would never use your service again.
I was told that the battery range should hold for minimum 240km but i reality it was barely holding 100km. I had to drive from Stuttgart to Paderborn which are 450k and it should take me 5 hours maximum to get there. But with the need to stop and charge the car 4 times i have lost 4 hours which i had planned for activities (at 10:00 i collected the car and i arrived at the hotel at 19:30). Also, i have spent 75Euro for charging the car 4 times.All this time i was stressed and angry with this situation when i new that i lose my planes for Saturday and also Sunday as there was no chance to exchange it and i had to cancel my plans
I would definitely not recommend using this company. It is absolutely shocking they charged me £60 specialist cleaning fee. There was literally few bits on the floor (autumn) the car came with no paper on floor or no mats. It literally would have taken a hoover that is all. I would have hoovered it myself had I have been informed it needed to be done (never had to with enterprise) also sent me pics of papers on the floor which were actually their paper work nothing to do with me. They tried to take the money out of my account with no prior contact or anything. Customer service appalling was told someone would ring me within 3 days it took several calls and emails before I received a call back 3 weeks 6 days later
Unexpected charges totalling more than the original cost of the car hire and only invoiced after the rental ended. Even though I signed the rental agreement, the agent did not clearly point out or give any explanation of the extra charges added to the agreement.
