Expedia Sold Me Travel Insurance—Then Refused to Honour It

I purchased travel insurance for my flight—offered directly by Expedia through TD and their third-party provider—at the time of booking. When I had to cancel my trip due to a medical emergency, I was passed from one party to another, each pointing the finger at someone else. Expedia, the insurer, and the airline all deflected responsibility. No one took ownership, and I was left without support or a refund. Expedia ultimately kept the money.The process was confusing, frustrating, and unkind—especially during an already difficult time. For a long-time customer and frequent flyer, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. Expedia should partner with a reputable insurer and establish clear, compassionate processes. I’ve decided to cancel my TD credit card and switch my rewards program.

Awful company to work with

Awful company to work with. Our flight got cancelled by the airline and they have taken 8 weeks to give our money back!! When they finally did they didn’t refund the full amount and I still haven’t got the full refund. Do yourself a favour and never book through them

Keep away from Experia for TD

Keep away from Experia for TD. I booked my flight one way with no charge fees. Upon wanting to change my flight I was told I didn't read the last policy when I was making payment.,their make story after you make the payment. I never get help . I will never make any payments through their website!!!, Be warned !!!!!!!

These guys are really not worth it

These guys are really not worth it. Bought 5 tickets with them with air transat, they charged the points right away. The next day a westjet flight appeared for the same exact dates $100 cheaper per ticket. Called them to cancel within the 24 hrs and they said its not allowed with air transat and even if it was it would take days or weeks to get the points back. Terrible practice that takes advantage of the consumer.

I wanted to book a window seat with…

I wanted to book a window seat with points earned on my expediafortd Visa. One and a half hour flight, then layover, then final 25 minute flight. So if I wanted to, two separate seat selections. expediafortd charges $100.00 per flight so $200.00. Westjet charges about $27.00. I booked directly then with Westjet. How and when did this ripoff happen? I have an appointment with my TD bank and investor in next couple of days. Will bring it up. Likely go nowhere but I'll take the credit rating hit and cancel the TD card and use my Mastercard. Might shop for another Visa for convenience but it might also push me for an overdue decision to take my banking elsewhere. Not happy with TD and anyone associated with them including home and life insurance that I had/have.

The customer service is a scam

The customer service is a scam. They claim to follow the airline policies but this is the second time I have caught them NOT doing so. I changed my departure date, a few hours after my initial booking, my ticket was non refundable but no change fees. Then I notice I was charged for 2 round trip tickets!!! I called Expedia and they are refusing to refund the 2nd ticket saying its airline policy. I've been on the phone for 1 hour 9 minutes and counting and now its being escalated to some other department. Do not book with Expedia for TD other than rental cars. This is the worst experience.

HORRIBLE experience.

HORRIBLE experience.Booked flight from pvr to yvr direct used the points everything was set for over a month. Then I get an email saying the flight is moved by a day which means I'd have to pay for another night in a hotel among other adjustments, obviously not going to work so I call. The lady on the other end informs me that there are no more direct flights available on the date I wanted, so I said look into layovers. The only ones she had to offer were 2 or more layovers taking me from pvr to Toronto first then another airport then YVR. I said that's ridiculous why would there only be flights from the west coast of Mexico to almost the east coast of Canada. I SPECIFICALLY asked how can there not be one with a layover at calgary or something? I was clearly frustrated when I said cancel, ill figure it out myself and she laughed. I just got my refunded points, log in to the expedia app and find MULTIPLE flights on my date with 1 quick layover in alberta and a direct flight to yvr ALL of which are cheaper than what I had originally booked. She either is horrible at her job or just lied to me for some reason. Customer service is non existent and the fact she laughed at my frustration is a joke. Wish I knew her name but if td sees this the call was recorded at 1130-1158am December 4th although I doubt they care based on the experience.

Really bad customer service was booked…

Really bad customer service was booked my flight though TD Expedia want to cancel it called five times every time they gave me excuse our manager will call me back urgently but no response put me kind a limbo really hard to deal with these kind of behaviour.

However, the response I received was both shocking and disappointing. The amount in question is a substantial CND$3,836, and my expressed willingness to rebook the trip with a flight included has fallen on deaf ears. The response from Bahia Principe Aquamarine, according to Expedia for TD stating that they cannot make an exemption or waive the fee, is disheartening. This lack of flexibility and understanding from both Expedia for TD and the hotel is disheartening. As a result, I find myself in the unfortunate position of losing my hard-earned savings for a vacation that will never happen. The refusal to consider the unique circumstances surrounding my cancellation leaves me questioning the integrity of their business practices.What is particularly distressing is the apparent indifference towards a loyal customer's predicament. Their response, claiming there is nothing else they can do, is a clear demonstration of a customer-unfriendly approach that prioritizes policies over genuine customer satisfaction.In conclusion, my experience with Expedia for TD has not only cost me financially but has also soured my perception of the company. I would caution others to be wary of engaging with a service that seems more interested in enforcing rigid policies than assisting customers in exceptional situations. Losing my savings for a vacation within 16 minutes of cancellation is an unacceptable outcome, and I hope this review serves as a warning to others considering Expedia for TD for their travel needs.

Terrible customer service

I booked an all-inclusive trip to Mexico only to be told that it was breakfast only when I arrived. I was therefor excluded from biking and kayaking which is what I went there for in the first place. There was no shuttle included to the hotel - something that I was not informed about. It cost me $140 CDN for a return shuttle. Customer service was virtually non-existant. I switched my credit card. I will never use Expedia for TD again.
