Review Time
I usually don't make these kind of reviews.. but I NEEED TO WARN YOU!! This insurance is awful!!And it is SOOOO difficult to connect with an agent..I cancelled the insurance on 9/30.. They continued to withdraw from my check on 10/1 AND 10/15 😳 I called and spoke to an agent 4 times to confirm it was cancelled, and the direct withdrawal was closed.. I am VERY annoyed. The End. MY REVIEW IS A (-0).. NOOO STARS!!
I have had Farmers Insurance for over 50 years. Recently my wife was involved in an accident where the other driver was cited. She suffered 4 broken ribs and a lacerated spleen. She was in the hospital for 3 days. She still has pain and suffering from the accident. Farmers has been nothing but a nightmare. Instead of representing us in the accident, they seem to be our adversary. They gave us $25.00 a day for a rental car and telling us it would be comparable to ours. You can only imagine what car you would get for $25.00 per day. They gave us less than the blue book value for our car that was totaled. Since the accident they have buried us with paper work. Often requesting medical documents that they had in their possession. Sometimes they would request documents over 5 times even though they already had them. They asked for the accident report over 5 times and it is a matter of public record and can be downloaded from the internet in about 3 minutes. Instead of helping us, instead they were against us. It is a shame that when you pay for insurance over 50 years and then you finally need help they do not provide any.
We had a deeply disappointing experience with Farmers Insurance. As long-time policyholders in California, we insured both our home and vehicles with them for many years. When we purchased a new home, Farmers initially agreed to insure the property, only to drop us after we had closed escrow. Their reasoning? The plumbing was “too old” — despite the fact that they were fully aware of the home's age when they provided a quote and accepted our payment. To make matters worse, they assured us that our auto policies would remain unaffected. Yet, just a few months later, we received a notice from the DMV informing us that Farmers had also canceled our car insurance—without any prior communication. The entire experience left us scrambling to secure new coverage on short notice.I strongly caution anyone considering Farmers Insurance to think twice before entrusting them with their coverage.
A neighbors undisputed negligence caused $4,000 damage to my pathfinder worth approximately $13,000.The neighbors Farmers insurance totaled the car while in the repair shop and offered me $6,000 and prepared to take the car and take it to a re-sale lot. I Paid cash to the shop for the repair job and declined the Farmers offer. Farmers had already totaled the car title with the Dept of licensing so I had to go to the DOL with the information and after their review they agreed that farmers had no right to total the car as did not meet the total requirements or their authority to do so. DOL issued a new unbranded title and I will be in the process of civil action with the neighbor. The Farmers adjusters and representatives I had the misfortune to have to deal with were unwilling to even address the issues or redress. This is also being referred to the State insurance commissioner at their request after they were advised of the situation. As a side note the repair shop advised that they had two other vehicles in their shop that were currently fighting the same issue with Farmers insurance trying to take later model cars by totaling them to sell them.
I tried to negotiate my payment was told one thing then switched to a sister company of farmers. Was left with a balance owing and because I took my agents advice and switched(a farmers agent) They will not allow me to make a payment plan. Agents are smooth talkers don't believe anything they say.
Horrible company. Will ask you to do all sort of things - will drag on the case, deny everything, and not care at all while doing it. Awful communication and customer services. Will now need to proceed with an attorney. I was in an auto accident. Other driver (at fault) had farmers and it’s been a nightmare.
Why is this company in business? I set up auto payments and they only took the payments twice. Afterwards, they bill me a bulk amount. I agreed to monthly. I agreed to 178 and it was raised to about 270. Why? I see this is a habit of theirs. I made a claim because an animal hit my car and after taking pictures they said they see no damage. There was no pay out and the claim currently remains on my driving record. It can be seen by other companies and I want it removed. I have the right to cancel or dispute and they are giving me a hard time and says it cannot be removed. It can and I will make sure they are reported. It will lawfully be removed by my attorney. Removing a claim can occur. I would give it a zero but I can’t.
Farmers insurance is a shady company. They wanted to cancel my homeowner insurance policy by telling me that I need to replace my roof. I have a tile roof and it was in a perfect shape. I asked for proof of evidence, they sent me the images from their drone which has low quality. I used my drone and took the picture of my roof and they said it's ok but increased my premium. 2 months later, they asked for pictures in front, back and side of my house and I submitted the photos and they still send me the cancellation notice. I called them directly and they made me waited on the line for an hour and finally closing time. If the company is this big in size and don't bother to response to their customers. Do not buy insurance from this company.
I give a one-star rating only because there's not a lower rating. The experience I had was horrible, the agent that I dealt with did not seem to want to do his job correctly and ignored the things that I asked and only reacted to try and make my experience better when I told him I was leaving and threatened to contact the State insurance board. Shawn Langehennig in Idaho has no right serving as an insurance agent and I definitely believe Farmers should review his work ethic, I would caution anyone that is considering doing business with him in Idaho

Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service
Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans.
In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you.
