Made gud on defective piece ;)

I did have a pair of linen pants where the stitching was the fabric just ripped. And I baby my gudruns. They were a few months old. But… I sent Gudrun pictures and they immediately refunded. We’ll done! I am Leary now about the linen. But I love their sweaters. Still buy them.

Apppalling customer service, mediocre quality and lunatic sizing

Ordered 2 tops but they only managed to deliver 1. Messaged customer service immediately and waited. And waited. 48 hours later i would have expected some response but nothing so messaged them again. After 1 week i opened a paypal dispute but they didn't even bother to respond to paypal. Eventually Paypal refunded me. I thought about returning the other top as the sizing is way off and the quality really couldn't justify the price but realised there was zero chance of getting any joy from their 'customer service'.

I saw on their website

I saw on their website, that they were offering 20% discount, if you bought more items. We did NOT receive the 20% discount. CHEATED

Remember my experience last year

Was checking Gudrun's website just now as if it's become a habit of mine - I loved this brand ever since I discovered it in Stockholm, however, highly unlikely I will purchase anything again. Last year around this time, I placed an order for a jumper. It was sent to a local store that was closed/not open. I emailed the customer service soon after but did not get any reply. Life was busy with a young child and work so I didn't follow up until a few months later when I happened to be nearby their London store. So I went in and told them about my experience which is that I never received my order and had no communication nor reply to my emails. The store staff were nice and apologetic. They offered to phone their customer service team for me and the explanation given for having no response was that their customer service changed systems so may not have received the communication in the first place - it was shocking and unsatisfactory that this could be offered as a reason to excuse themselves because the customer service email was still listed on their front page. Also the customer service person on the phone was not apologetic at all and asked ME to contact UPS about the order, and she seems to think that's completely justified, especially when I already asked them to take back that order and process a refund for me. The store staff agreed that it shouldn't be me to trace the package after having had such a bad experience, and offered to chase this case and asked me for contact details. Since then I have never heard anything from them and I am very sad to have been let down in this way. I was a loyal customer for years. Just remembering all these and sharing them here now as it seems they still have not sorted out their services.

I’ve been buying from these for a few…

I’ve been buying from these for a few years after I decided to try to stop buying non ethically in total. People have sadly gotten used to mixed fabrics that can’t be recycled, harsh dyes and other things. I have found their jersey washes and wears very well, especially the lyocell. The wool fabrics are more delicate and really do need hand washing and drying properly, but don’t bobble much. The cotton knitted jumpers and tonics are my winter mainstay now, so warm and easy to care for. The nylon socks tights and leggings are very thin - about 50 denier, so I don’t get these as nothing like that survives my dogs climbing on my lap! They are very nice though. The parents are great, and so many have a dark background which is so much more practical for everyday wear. Yes they cost more than non ethical shops, but they are cheaper than most ethical suppliers and on a par with Seasalt which I also love.

The fabrics!

I've been buying Gudrun Sjoden for a long time and as everyone else has said the fabric quality is now pretty awful. They make much of their green credentials but there is now very little cotton jersey. Mostly it is now a cotton, modal or lyocell mix. Both modal and lyocell are derived from bamboo and so whilst they are natural materials, they're very heavily processed and that processing is not very green. More to the point I can only wear cotton jersey, not modal or lyocell. This year, from all their collections, there were perhaps 4 garments for me to choose from. It's such a pity. There print designs are great and there's nothing else out there like them. But I think I'm now an ex Gudrun Sjoden customer.

I just discovered this charming Swedish clothing line

I just discovered this Swedish clothing site about 6 months ago. Finally a shop that sells quality clothing...and yes, you do pay more but you get what you pay for. Anyone looking for bargains, sales and cheap clothing...don't shop here. I have placed 5 orders so far. The quality of the clothing is at a very high standard. The fit is excellent, the designs charming. The clothes tend to be a bit too bohemian for my more reserved style but there is plenty of choice of clothing that is more toned down...with an added punch of beautiful designed fabrics. It's hard to find plus size, quality clothing but they do sell XXL in some of the clothing. Clothing on the market, particularly in larger sizes and for older women, tends to be plain, poorer quality and lacking in style. The designer, Gudrun herself is over 80 and very stylish so age doesn't have to make anyone look dowdy. I honestly don't see how people find Gudrun's clothing anything but really beautiful and creative. One negative; I don't appreciate paying $15 US for returns. I think they should build return costs into the price of the clothing. Or at least make returns more reasonable.

Have had several things from here and…

Have had several things from here and loved them all. Great quality. Had several items from the hen collection and they're just gorgeous. The cardigans are thick, even the summer ones, so well made. Had one wrong item delivered and the replacement was sent within a few days. The item I returned was with the free prepaid label provided. Do read the small print as returns can be costly but I've never had to use that yet. The items are expensive but you get what you pay for and cheaper things fall apart much more quickly. Have to add, at last a company that see actually cater to a real woman's shape...'generous fit at the hips'...now I can hid my middle aged tummy!

Thin garments

Just in time I bothered to look at article 23203 on the website - the black variety of a linen cardigan and when I used the blow up scan I saw the garment was so thin you could see the colour of the item below! Beware!

What a shame!

I bought a sweater recently in the GS Covent Garden shop and was blown away by the great customer service and lovely products on display. Buoyed up by this, I ordered a couple of tops from their online store. Big mistake. Sadly the tops were unsuitable and I needed to return them. I should have read the returns blurb properly which states that whilst exchanges cost nothing, returns incur a fee of £10. Penalising returns isn't going to encourage customers to return. I called to ask if I could return the goods to my local shop but was told that only exchanges were possible in store. The customer service executive was like a brick wall. How can two arms of the same company be so different? So disappointing.
