Be aware from these f*** thieves. I rented a car through DoYouSpain. When I went to pick up the car, the employee asked me to get full insurance for 27.25 Euro/day which is 54.50 for two days. I agreed and she promised me this will be the only extra charges. When I received the invoice, the charges were 221.19 Euro. Higher than the rent itself. They put 93.19 super cover (I don’t even know what is this) beside the 54.50 also I returned the car full 730km and they put 82.43 Euro fuel and service. Also 12 Euro location charge. Be AWARE BE AWARE BE AWARE.I just received an email from their thieves customer service and they are saying that I signed for the extra (of course your thief employee added them and asked me to sign very fast so I don’t notice that) the other unbelievable thing which I can sue them for because I have pictures (they are saying that I returned the car 0/8 and the truth is I returned it 730 km which is only 20 km less than when I received it 750 kmDon’t rent from them be cause they will steal your money then they will believe their thieves employees over you (AVOID AVOID AVOID)I have rented a car after that from OkMobility, they are very honest company and they only charged me for the full insurance, Rent from OKMobility and avoid AVOID AVOID these thieves.I will post this in every social media
FRAUD!We paid EUR 725 for six days, pick up Alicante aiport. We were forced to pay EUR 168 extra for full cover even though we already had paid for an extra insurance. They also charged a "location fee" of EUR 40 - in total EUR 930 for six days - small Opel. Never again! We chose Hertz to avoid fraud - we were so wrong.
Bad experience. We dropped off the car at the airport. We got notified that there was a damage on the door handle and they are charging for damages. We didn’t damage the door, it was the way we got it. There is no phone number to call and argue the charges.
Having rented cars several times a year for the past 25 years we have never experienced any problems and usually go for the cheaper option. On our holiday in Spain this year though we booked with Hertz (through an agent). The gentleman at the desk was extremely polite & very friendly & gave us an upgrade which was a good start. However, there was no one with us when we checked out the car before leaving. The car was very dirty, covered in very dusty rain residue. We did, of course, check it over & couldn’t see anything at all obvious. The car itself was fine & we didn’t cover a huge amount of miles during the week. When we came to fill the car with patrol before returning to the airport we found a pump close by that you had to prepay. Since we’d only used half a tank we were unsure how much was needed so we paid for €40 worth of fuel. The gage showed one notch down from being full. My husband then tried to put a little extra in but the machine refused to take the card again. We therefore returned the car almost, but not completely full. We left the car at Girona airport. No one was there to inspect the vehicle. When we returned back home to Ireland a week later I received an e-mail saying that we were being charged for damage to the mirror (€25) plus an admin fee of €50!! We certainly didn’t damage the car ourselves & this small scratch I’m sure was there at the start but with the vehicle being so dirty was impossible to see. Also, €50 admin charge!!! You They also said there was a fuel charge of €97.59. We were totally disgusted. We did e-mail them & a week later received an email saying that we were liable for the damage. However, if we could show a receipt for the fuel we will be refunded that. I can honestly say that I will never use Hertz again. Before using them I always presumed that they were more expensive because they were more reputable. This is definitely not the case. I would suggest to avoid at all cost & will be saying the same to all our friends & family. Hope this helps.
Looking at their current rating, what can I say, that clearly others haven't already. Hertz Malaga Airport! Don't go near this lot. Save your money and your stress levels. Bunch of thieves. Why oh why can't a car hire company come along that has some ethics...
Hired a car for a week from Palma airport and I thought a big company like Hertz would be a safe bet. On dropping the car off, they inpsected it and then pointed out a miniscule scrape on the bumper. They then claimed I had hit something and charged me 80 euros for it to be 'touched up'. I hadn't hit anything. The mark was so small that it could well have been there when we picked the car up. It was on the plastic bumper so no idea how they thought this was going to be repaired. It was ridiculous and a licence to print money. No recourse as they had over £800 on a credit card and they would take the money anyway. No point in arguing as you risk missing your flight- and they know all of this. Will never used Hertz or Thrifty (which it seems is the same company) again.
Avoid Hertz in Tenerife! Customer service is poor and they rob you of more money for insurance when you arrive to pick up your car. You pay for full cover online, they then tell you that it’s not full cover and charge you more money only for you to later discover that your original cover was indeed full cover. Scammers. Avoid! Plenty of other companies to chose from
Be careful! You might think your case will differ from most 1 reviews here but please for your own wallet and comfort of mind, read through them and see the red thread.I rented for two weeks and 1 day with Hertz in Spain for our holiday. Unfortunately, because me and My partner got covid we had to abort our driving vacation a week early and had to return the car at a different Hertz office than the one we picked it up at.For this, they added a charge of 90 euros, which I can definitely understand, BUT, they charged the fee twice from my card, meaning they added it to the grand total twice, even though they only mention it once on the receipt. They also added small other charges around it making it land on something like 200+ euros for returning the vehicle 6 days early...I advise extreme caution when dealing with them as you cannot reach them by phone or email afterwards and their response time is up to more than a week.If you care about your money and your sanity, then do choose some other rental company at all costs.
Because I only had a debit card not a credit card they forced me to pay a 700€ deposit which they took TWO WEEKS to pay back. I believe Hertz use your deposit money for their own gains while you wait weeks for it to be returned. They say it's the bank's responsibility but the previous week GoldCar took just 2 hours to pay back my deposit so was not a bank issue. AVOID HERTZ!
