False charges with no proof

They charged me for gas despite me having filled it up to full minutes before handing it in, and also charged me a one-way fee despite me having picked up and delivered the car in the same location (Alicante Airport) where my flight to Spain landed and my return flight home left from. When I tried to dispute these things, they simply said I was wrong and showed me no proof, and refused to refund me. Terrible customer service, and for that reason alone I would advice you to pick a different car rental agency.

Extra unwanted charges, watch out!

This March I rented a car with Hertz via an external party. With this party I was fully insured, no need for extra services via the rental company. At checking in with Hertz at Malaga airport I verbally stated I did not need extra services as I was fully insured. The man who helped me asked again if I wanted full insurance..again I stated I wanted nothing. Then the contract was presented where he put an X where I had to sign. As I was renting with an reputable company and because I twice stated I did not need any extra service, I did not read every letter on the contract, just quickly scanned for any abnormalities. Thereafter signed and got the car. When returning the car 2 weeks later I got an extra invoice (58,08 euro) from Hertz for premium assistance. (I was already insured for this) I never asked for this, I was also not asked if I wanted this service! The man just put it on my contract as an extra and had me sign for it. When confronting Hertz with this they just stated I signed for it.I know that with lots of the cheaper rental companies you should really be carefull what you sign for. But also with Hertz apperently. Therefore warning: check your Hertz contract carefully for unwanted and for services not asked for!!! Here they try to make extra money as well!In my contract in Spain it was just the line: “ Premium Assistencia” it’s really easy to miss.

avoid hertz and all its sub bodies…

avoid hertz and all its sub bodies thrifty dollar once we booked a golf and were given a polo you will be totally ripped off for last penny with hertz they sent me an invoice for 600 euros for damage for a car that never left the airport, when I noticed the chip in the windscreen I refused to accept the car and it took over an hour to get it swapped two days later an invoice dropped into my in box when I was getting no where on the phone I returned to the airport to get it sorted out I received a speeding fine which I paid now hertz want a further 80 euros admin for sending me a email they have next to nothing in customer service and even the ceo doesn't reply to any correspondence they've just try customers like cash cow's

Horrible experience

Horrible experience! They are crooks, my windshield cracked with a pebble from a truck and with CDW coverage they are charging me $465 euros. So why get insurance when they screw you!! They want you to buy the Total coverage that is more expensive than the rental!!!!

Always received good service at Hertz AGP even when I damaged the vehicle

I have read the other reviews but I have always received excellent service from Hertz staff at Malaga Airport. Unfortunately, on my last rental (3rd to 14th Feb 2023) the rear bumper reflector of my vehicle (BMW 3 Series) was damaged whilst in my possession. However. The lady who had worked there for some time on returns dealt with the matter well and efficiently by assessing the cost of the damage on the spot (which I agreed to), which ensured I was not delayed in catching my flight home. N.B. I did not take out the optional additional insurance, but have since claimed for a refund via my own car hire annual insurance policy, who refunded me in full (466.89 Euros) within 2 weeks of my return to the UK

Booked a Fiat 500 from discovercars.comI chose the vehicle from thrifty for pickup from Malaga AGP airport. Getting to the rental car locations was easy as there were signs in the airport for “Car rentals”. However, finding signs for thrifty was impossible. I could see goldcar, hertz, sixt, enterprise, europcar etc but no thrifty. It turns out thrifty and dollarcar rentals both come under hertz. So you have to go to the hertz desk. I chose full insurance option when booking through discover cars so I was told by discover cars that you may be offered insurance at the rental desk but I can decline it as I am covered. Sure enough, the guy at the rental desk tried selling me full insurance. I kindly declined and he was fine with it as long as I knew it was not with them. He tried to upsell me on a diesel car which was 10 euro extra a day to which I said no. The Fiat 500 I booked was not available so I was given a Ford Fiesta ST like ECOboost. He then gave me the keys and told me where the car was. I asked if he’s coming with me and he said “no you can just take the car”. Upon asking what happens in the event that I get to the car and I see damages which are not recorded on the sheet and he said just take pictures and videos of it.I did just this by videoing every inch of the car and found some scratches, alloy damage, door dings and paint work damages which was not recorded on the sheet. Upon return of the vehicle I explained to the woman that the sheet indicated damages which were NOT on the car, and that the car also had damaged which were NOT recorded on the sheet. She was very nice lady and I showed her the videos of the damages to the car including a chunk of the alloy and a slice in the tyre which was prior to me renting the vehicle. She gave it the once over with me and then printed out the end of rental showing me there are no charges to my account and my security deposit will be refunded in full ( €700 approx £659 ) 4 working days later I have just checked and I have received the full amount back on my credit card. Overall a decent experience with Hertz/ThriftyNote: I would advise anyone renting a car. CHECK and take videos and pictures of absolutely everything. Take your time even if it’s 15/20 minutes. Include in your video the date and time on your watch and the rental agreement just to make sure everything is recorded with evidence.

I would have given zero if it was an option !

This is the 2nd time I have used Herts in tenerife and they are total rubbish , it take 1-2 hours to collect your car every time. The staff spend 15 - 30 mins on each check in and most of the time only 1 person working. Use another company !!! Even if it more money !!! Hertz I use you all over the world but tenerife you are crap !

Hertz Tenerife South. Scammers. Claimed they do not accept DEBIT CARD deposits and forced me to buy extended insurance at the kiosk. They then proceeded to take a €300 deposit by DEBIT CARD for 'fuel' and 'key' protection. Avoid.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY

DO NOT TRUST HERTZ. ESPECIALKY IF YOU DO NOT WANT THEIR FULL INSURANCE. 1. When I returned the car, I had showed tha agent a film of the car as it were when I picked it up. Proving NO DAMAGE.YET THEY CLAIM I HAD A DAMAGE. I SUSPECT THIS IS A SCAM BY HERTZ ESPANA COMPANY - AS AN EASY WAY TO INCREASE THEIR REVENUE - BECAUSE I HAVE MY OWN INSURANCE AND THUS NOT TAKE THE FULL INSURANCE.

Hertz Malaga cannot support Hertz reputation

We rented from Hertz because wanted to rent from a company with generally a great reputation.The car was kind of crappy but no big deal. We filled the tank up, drove the last part to the airport.We handed the car back in, asked the guy "whether everything was in order" and he confirmed and said "yes perfect".BUT: When we were waiting for our plane, we got an email from that same guy saying "the car needed 2,2 more liters to fill up" and we got a penalty service fee so needed to pay some 50 euros extra.We were lucky to be able to show the receipt of just 15 minutes before handing the car in and Hertz worldwide customer service (after some mailing up and down) refunded us the fraudulently invoiced service fee and petrol money.I feel very let down in Hertz's reputation, even if it was solved (because we were able to show our receipt!!) later on.This guy in Malaga is an absolute embarassment for Hertz worldwide and its generally great reputation.I will not go back to Hertz Malaga ever. It was disgusting.
