Second review 14Dec25:Since my first review, I had some very rewarding conversations with Aktiia Support, and now have a better understand of how to manage the calibrations and readings.BTW, I didn't mention last review that one time that I was having a lot of trouble with calibration, I realised that I had the cuff on upside down, and once I put it on correctly, it worked much better (read the instructions! :) ).I now take an Omron reading before and after the Hilo calibration, and it they do not agree, then I repeat the process until I have good agreement between them. The Omron can give inconsistent readings too; the physiology is in constant flux.I plan on calibrating more often than prompted by the software, probably every 1-2 weeks.I also know now how to take a one-off reading following conversations with Support.I am really impressed with this device and think it will be really valuable to monitor and record my blood pressure over time. It's wonderful to have continuous BP monitoring and being able to assess stability of BP, but the calibration is a bit +/-. It can shift up & down from cal to cal and there is only so-so agreement with the Omron readings that I take when I cal the Hilo - one cal, the omron will be about 10 higher and next cal, Hilo will jump up but will then be ~ 10 higher than the Omron. eg: cal result Hilo 124/70, Omron 135/75; next cal Hilo 147/79, Omron 140/67. With time, the Hilo cals may stabilise with more history and get closer to the Omron so I will continue to track. Another thing, I can't see a cal report anywhere that says what the data are and how the cal has been adjusted, and there is no indication on the graphs where a cal has been done to relate to the ups & downs. I am Medical Scientist so I think it is important to be able to access this info and move away from black box scenario. Thanks.

Easy to set up and quick delivery

Easy to set up and quick delivery. The HiLo is comfortable to wear. However, I hadn't realised that different coloured straps are available. Had I known I would have selected another colour other than black, because black is definitely not my colour! I have just selected the wonderful lilac strap. It would have been great to have been given a choice of strap colour at initial purchase.

Great product

I have been sceptical of this product for a while now. The overriding thought i had was how accurate is it. The way that it calibrates makes sense and it is pretty much tracking against other BP products I have which proves to me that this product can be trusted if used correctly.

Great device and easy to use

Great device and easy to use. I have cncerns because sometimes the calibration causes a step-change in base line. Any additional medical endorsement would be valuable.

Best way to track your blood pressure

I I have been wearing Hilo band for 3 years now, because it is the most convenient way to track my blood pressure. With a synchronization that only needs to be done once per month to assure accuracy of metrics, I can see how my blood pressure evolves every hour, day and night, and get valuable insights on the conditions and the extent they are impacting it.

Hilo first impressions.

The Hilo device seems to be well made is comfortable to wear and it is easy to check readings. I have found only 2 downsides of at this early stage. Firstly, the wrist strap is a little short which makes it fiddly to fasten. Secondly, the print in the instruction booklet is very small and almost unreadable without a magnifying glass. I had to resort to Youtube to get the detail I needed. These factors aside, early impressions of the Hilo are good.

Limited software functionality

For a bit of tech that only measures BP and HR, the software is remarkably limited. You can't ask the band to take a reading now. It would be good to be able to set personal targets as the 'time spent in target range' is based on what somebody else thinks my target should be.And I'd like to be able to see what my blood pressure is doing during exercise. It currently does not take a reading if you are exercising.

Aktiia blood pressure monitor was good now it’s Hilo avoid

I was one of the earlier doctors of Aktiia, now Hilo product for blood pressure monitoring. It worked really well up to about two months ago. Now the monitoring cuff and the blood pressure armband will not work together. I contacted their support and they’ve said I’ve got to buy a new armband. It was not cheap and it looks to me as if they’ve changed aspects of the two devices is even now it keeps on dropping off continually when you connect them to the app. For example the battery monitoring changes all the time and gives different readings. Do not buy this.
