Ordered 70 beech, 15 hawthorn and 2 birch. Emailed as I needed to change the delivery date and received an email straight away to confirm. Of the 70 beech, 67 have leaves and growing well by end of May and all of the hawthorn and birch. I took a lot of time and trouble to prepare the soil properly and water thoroughly in dry weather. All in, a very good experience.
Excellent selection of shrubs and screening to create privacy in small plots at a reasonable price. Laurel Portugal was a compact option I sought as well as the Magnolia Stellata I have pined for years. :-)They arrived today in great health, well packed and superior quality. Thanks so much!
We ordered 92 hedging plants and 6 lollipop bay trees from Hopegrove nurseries. On the day they were due to be delivered the company rang, to let us know that the delivery truck had broken down, so could not deliver that day. As disappointed as we were, Hopegrove customer services ladies could not have been more helpful regarding resheduling for the next day, with almost hourly updates. Bearing in mind we are in the Isle of Wight, I dread to think how much it must have cost the delivery company, as they will inevitably have missed all their ferry crossings! To top it all, when the shrubs did arrive they were not only in perfect condition but at least 50% of our hedging plants were a good 10cm higher than expected and were in glorious condition! It's often when things go wrong that companies are prove just how well run they are and HopeGrove Nurseries certainly did so that day. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for both quality of plants and delightful people to deal with.
DO NOT USE......Less than half the ordered (and paid for!) number of plants delivered. Tried calling (don't bother no one will answer). Had initial email replied too. Failed to respond to several emails since. They are either particularly badly run or they have stolen from us.
I bought 24x bare root Portuguese Laurels at the end of February and they arrived a couple of weeks later. On arrival, the plants were not in a good condition, many leaves had began to curl and some were turning brown. We theorised the plants were stressed and they may thrive once in the ground. We planted these on the same day as delivery and following planting guide provided by Hopes Grove Nurseries entirely. As each day passed they looked worse and worse.I contacted the company after a couple of weeks and was advised to add mulch and they will ‘come to life’ in 4-6 weeks. We did as advised, and they plants continued to get worse - no new growth to be seen, all leaves went brown and fell off, every plant went brittle and died.I have since emailed the company 3 separate occasions to complain, providing photos to show the dreadful quality of plant, and each email has been ignored. We have had no choice but to pull all plants out the ground and replace with good, healthy plants from an alternative supplier. We have wasted lots of time and money with this company, and they fail to even acknowledge our complaint! Poor quality plants and poor customer service!Avoid like the plague!!!
Plants smaller than ordered/described and an extended delivery time compared to that indicated by the website. Return process not made easy initially, and at no point an apology. Sarah/Sara the office manager rude and diificult on the phone, no empathy.
The order was not complete and not rectified upon request. I was told to buy the missing item elsewhere. Also 10% of the bare root beech trees had virtually no viable roots. The same issue arose with previous orders and more than 10% of the trees died within 6 months. My email of complaint was ignored. Very disappointing!
