Wish I'd read these reviews before…

Wish I'd read these reviews before ordering. I ordered potted grasses expecting well-established 2L plants as advertised (and paid for). While the Deschampsia arrived in good condition, the Imperata Cylindrica Red Baron were clearly underdeveloped—more like 1L plants hastily potted into 2L containers. Disappointing experience, especially since I chose this seller based on their grasses being 2L and so more established.

I ordered two batches of Laurel Common

I ordered two batches of Laurel Common, 80 - 100 cms. They arrived roughly 2 weeks apart. The first batch were as described and we planted them as per instructions. They are currently thriving and looking good. The second batch however did not look good at all, but we persevered against my better judgement. Again, we followed the instructions to a tee and they were planting in the same continuous row, exactly the same as before. They did not survive and end up with some expensive sticks coming out the ground, never mind the efforts to plant them.I asked for a refund or replacements, but instead got a offer of an insulting £50 to buy some new ones. The will not honour the warrantyI decided to give them another chance to make good, and buy a lot more plants off them as we are completing another new house build. My efforts to contact them have fell on deaf ears and I've have had emails ignored and phone calls not returned. Today is the final day I'll chase themIll update this review upon receipt of a phone call I've been promised, whatever the result

Go elsewhere. Poor service, dying plants.

Reflecting other poor reviews here. Plants delivered in a bad/dying state. Hopes Grove request photos which I sent. Taken over a month to get back to me. Phones hardly ever answered. Still waiting. Would go elsewhere for your plants. They’ve lost their way. Used to be so good. Not anymore.

Look at their other reviews

Look at their other reviews. Don’t buy anything from them!! Not if you want good value or fair service! Please learn from my experienceI spent over £200 autumn 2024 on yew hedging. I planted them in good soil immediately. By spring 2025 at least half had gone brown – in part or in whole. I contacted the company who told me firstly it has be a”terrible time for yew” (you said it), then said it may have been” too dry” and asked me to wait 4 weeks. Stupidly I did wait. By then more plants were brown and dead. I sent pictures as requested. Suspect this was just a holding manoeuvre., because by then no replacement bare root plants were available Was told it “may have been too wet” I was then told I couldn’t have replacements til autumn 2025, but please send more “close up” pics which I did with some effort. I was then told they didn’t need more pics. So why ask for them? Because an adjacent glass cloche was showing in the picture ( but totally unrelated) I was told it may have been “too warm”. What is it – too dry , too wet or too warm? Make your mind up Hopes Grove !! Just one excuse after another . September 2025 was no use to me. I asked for a refund – “Oh -not possible “ - only a credit was available. I wastold my consumer rights did not apply because “plants are perishable items”. Extremely reluctantly I accepted a credit note but when I tried to apply it I was faced with total silence and no response to emails ( thank you S***- a really great and professional way to deal with an unhappy customer) . When I later reluctantly picked something else for my £91 credit I still had to pay £12 transit with a further £3 VAT ie £15 to pay., There was no point in arguing with the young girl who repeatedly told me “I’ve just started.” God help her. So yes in the war of attrition Hopes Grove won, but in the war of customer service and satisfied customers they lose big time. They obviously can’t even spell or understand Customer Service or Reputational Damage. So goodbye Hopes Grove. NB I don’t suppose for a second that Hopes Grove owners want to learn about Customer Service, delivering value or dealing with customers’ problems but they should remember that when you stick your head in the sand someone is likely to kick your b*ckside. . Any potential customers should beware totally and buy elsewhere . You don’t need the grief. And they don’t deserve your money. There are lots of good providers.

Don't use this company

Don't use this company, poor plants and customer service.I've ordered over £1600 pounds worth of plants.First order, completely the wrong size plants. After various calls and emails they agreed to refund. I thought great. I ordered by second batch of plants thinking I'll give them another go. This time I have had over 15 plants die. I have emailed, phoned, emailed further pictures and phoned. and Nothing. This was just the start of a large project, I have tried to sort this since may, I have emailed and and phones every month since and nothing.so I will give up and go else where and I advise others to do the same.

Lifeless plants and no support

Ordered some mixed bare root hedging. Some plants have taken fine, about a third - one variety - have no budding and no sign of life. Sent an email. No response. Tried to call 3 times, waited 15 minutes in the queue, made it to number 1, and then was cut off. No alternative means on the website that i can see to make contact. Won't be buying from this supplier again.

Very happy repeat customer

I’ve purchased significant amounts of hedging on several separate occasions so far - Thuja Plicata 5 foot plants 3 times,Green Spire once and Holly 5 foot plants once. All have been pot grown. All arrived on the date specified. All plants have looked vibrant and healthy when they arrived. Everything has thrived in the garden for a couple of years. I wanted to leave a review because I’ve been so pleased with my purchases and was shocked to find negative reviews. I would agree that the phone system can make you queue for ages and then cuts you off. That happened during sale periods which must be busy. But I was persistent and got through to a very helpful lady. To be honest it was frustrating in the moment but given how smoothly everything went and how great the plants have been, I wouldn’t knock a star off for that. I’d definitely buy here again.
