We are delighted with the service provided by Hopes Grove Nurseries for our multi-species hedgerow project at The Oval Bandstand in Cliftonville. From start to finish, their service was excellent. The delivery was exactly as promised, on time and perfectly packaged to ensure the saplings arrived in pristine condition. The planting instructions from their website were clear, thorough, and extremely helpful. The quality of the saplings exceeded all expectations: they were exceptionally healthy, a great size, and showed tremendous promise for strong growth. The only reason this isn’t a full 5-star review is that we would have appreciated an email from either the supplier or the delivery company just prior to the agreed delivery date to confirm everything was on track. Aside from that small improvement, we had a top-notch experience and highly recommend Hopes Grove Nurseries. Thank you for helping us create a hedgerow we’ll be proud of for years to come!
The Hornbeam hedge plants arrived bang on time as per the email. The plants are of exceptional quality & were well packaged. They were much bigger & stronger than I'd anticipated, & already showing tiny green shoots. I can't wait 'til spring ti see my hedge in leaf. Thank you.
AvoidPurchased privet at the beginning of the year and half failed to take (20+plants). I contacted the seller 5 times over 3 month about replacing under guarantee. Each time I was assured it would happen and were offended when I suggested not. No intention of fulfilling the warrantee. I have lost a years growth to their poor product and now have to buy elsewhere to patch a hedge - another year goneAvoid
After reading some of the reviews I was a bit nervous about ordering from Hopes Grove Nurseries as some customers have left dreadful reviews.I ordered 14 Cornus Midwinter Fire in their sale (3l potted plants) at an unbelievable price, again making me wonder if I was making a mistake. The plants arrived within 4 days in slightly odd packaging - long and thin boxes - and with great trepidation I opened them. What did I find? 14 beautifully packaged, lovely cornus’s. The plants are placed on their sides, with bamboo canes to stop them moving, packed with straw; yes there is a plastic sheet but that stops the moisture from degrading the cardboard - useful plastic sheet for my car when I purchase plants in the future. To the plants - really nice size, actually better than the picture on the Nursery website, still have leaves on and the soil moist. My one observation is that they are a tad pot bound (not much); however, this is to be expected at the end of season sale plants.I’m now really annoyed I didn’t order more - these size of plants are now not available - and I’m cross that I allowed the poor reviews to influence me.I really wish I could add photos as they really are great plants and can only reiterate that these are fantastic plants delivered very quickly.I will be ordering again from Hopes Groves.
Placed an order for 27 hedging plants. Picked the larger ones which of course you pay more for as these are supposed to be more mature, that’s why you pay extra. Firstly, delivery is supposed to be up to 10 days but usually delivered within 5 days, needless to say neither happened. 12 days after ordering I had to chase as no communication at all, then suddenly things started moving. Received the order now and whilst half are good, the other half are not like the pictures and less adequate. 1 specific hedge is more like a stick, with others a little better but not great. I accept and would like to share that half the order was actually good, the rest and the twig not so much, I wish I read this website first, the reviews say enough! Contacted customer service only to be advised they cant guarantee the look and essentially nothing will be done. So after calling and advising these were being added to existing established hedging, advised they look as they do in the picture and ordering, a twig or alike is acceptable!? The score is based on experience, produc and customer service response. This could have been handled so much better. I only wish I could upload pictures for people to see. I’m so glad I didn’t checkout on the trees in my basket, best part of a grand would have been wasted I feel. Read the reviews here and make your own decision, the overall ratings tell you what you need to know.
Avoid dealing with this nursey company at all costs - i orderd 13 photinia red robin bushes which were delivered late , tightly wrapped together in shrink wrap and in a damaged condition, crushed inside a delivery lorry with broken canes and dehydrated plants, with some falling out of their pots on removals from the courier lorryDespite sending photos and attempting to complain i have got nowhere - i was also trapped in communication between the courier they used and the nursery - the former offering to refund me a courier charge and the latter refusing to do so. The office manager for the nursery would not take into account any of the information and photos i had sent as evidence , disregarding the facts, and repeatedly shouting me down on the phone - then finally pushing me to the brink of frustration on the phone with her verbose and arrogant behaviour - repeatedly interupting, dismissing and refusing to acknowledge my concerns that the items delivered were not in a good state as shown on their website and costing me over £500. The office manager also refused to go back to the Courier company who had agreed to refund me directly the money as an apology for being late and damaging the items.Absolutely disgraceful service and very upset at the awful dealing i had to endure with the Nursey office manager and who pushed me over the edge. Having read other reviews on this site it seems that i am not the first to be treated with such contempt, and with 39% of reviews left as one/two star standard which is shocking. I note several of these reviews are from people going to trading standards as a last resort .I am now mindful to do the same.
I read the reviews after ordering and was very nervous. My order of beech hedging was excellent, I ordered more and the wrong amount was sent. They corrected this with next day delivery.Hopefully their customer service is improving. My experience was very good.
Do not buy from here! I decided to go against advice and give the benefit of the doubt. Plants not in great condition. One had more ht an half the bark missing off stem and they said it was fine. Started dying not long after and they are still refusing to exchange or refund. Keep asking for more pictures and plant is clearly dead and advising it should be in a 25l pot from the 3l pot it arrived in!!! Avoid at all costs!!!!!
I ordered 28 small yew trees for a hedge. All planted within 3 days or so in a well drained position with mulch and well looked after. Within 1 week two started to brown. I kept an eye on them and they deteriorated and died. All the others alongside have thrived. I advised Hopes Grove with no reply to a few emails. After phoning told to submit photos, fingernail scrape photos but that the wet summer was to blame ( one week of rain does not usually affect yews ) No response. This went on for months with no responses to my messages. I was concerned about disease that may affect my healthy plants. I was then told that they would replace but I would have to pay the carriage. I wrote to the CEO with no response. A business that quibbles distances themselves from their product's quality is not one to patronise.
