Hopper travel protection is a HUGE SCAM. I will never book another flight with this app. Booked a flight I knew I might have to cancel during peak season. Not only was there no flexibility for travel origin and destination, NONE of the dates I wanted were available, but the cost of the flight during NON PEAK season was MORE expensive than the previously booked flight. This was through Scandinavian Airlines by the way so I also will not be booking with this airline ever again.
Scam company. Do not use. I paid ~300 extra for flexible flights (vs alt. app), but there was no way to amend the dates. Both airlines confirmed to me that changes could only be made by hopper, and hopper had no way to make the changes - instead referring me to the airlines. Hopper has no legal footprint in the UK, so I can only get my money back if I launch a court action overseas. The firm rejects emails to help@ and ignores all emails to legal@.
Hopper being the travel booking service provider via Commonwealth Bank, I had no reasons to doubt their services and professionalism. I was so wrong. The pre-paid seats that I purchased with email confirmation from Hopper meant nothing. The airline system didn't show our pre-paid seats. Hoppers customer service suggested I should contact the airline directly "to sort it out". Airline claimed it's the agency/Hopper responsibility. Hoppers customer service agents told me in several calls/emails "not to worry" as they could see from their system everything was definitely confirmed. I had to keep explaining to them the seats that i pre-paid were not locked but instead showing in the airline system as opened to public. After a week going back and forth, they've finally admitted their travel partner "TravelFusion" confirmed no seats were reserved. Lucky we managed to identify this discrepancy shortly after the booking - thanks to a quick Google search and read so many bad reviews. Many reviewers only found out too late at the airport. I am still waiting for my refund. It is unacceptable!
I believe I was scammed by Hopper and Easirent due to a combination of deceptive practices, exploitative policies, and coordinated inaction that left me without a rental car, out $457.97, and forced to pay an additional $900 for a replacement rental. I have evidence of all of this and it has happened to many people.
Bought an expensive package multi-city to Brazil. Called this morning to change one leg. At noon, it was $9.5 to change. Called 3 hours later, it was $66. Finally tried again and in a 6-hour span, the price reached $330 dollars. The same as a new flight. And I am leaving a weekend flight for a week flight. I asked to talk to an agent from the LATAM airlines… long after a person with indian accent joined, I asked if he was with the airline to which he confirmed. I then asked fir his badge/employee number. He stutters and starts to think what to say… bunch of fraudsters… NEVER AGAIN!!!🤬🤬🤬
Customer service is horrible. You'll be on the phone for more than 50 minutes to not get any answers. This happened to me twice. Unclear check in instructions for an Inn from the Hopper app made us miss a check in time and we weren't able to stay at the Inn. They said we needed to check in at 3pm since we booked through a 3rd party app and we couldn't check shortly before 9pm even though their normal check in hours were til 9. The Hopper app never stated that nor did the confirmation email from hopper. Out $230 because Hopper did not give us clear instructions.
For a car rental I called Hopper tog get clarification about any interstate restrictions. I trusted they knew the correct answers, which they did not. Of course, at the rental agency there was an extra $25 per day charge to leave the state. So the car cost more than twice as much as I initially paid Hopper. And with the holiday weekend, there was no chance or time to shop around.I will deal with the car rental agency itself from now on. when I called after my trip, they informed me that i signed the contract at the rental agency and nothing could be done. Oh, they said I should of called them from the car rental place. Right, and waste precious travel time to our destination. No thanks Hopper!
– A Disappointing & Frustrating ExperienceI booked a rental car through Hopper, expecting convenience and transparency, but my experience was unfortunately frustrating and unprofessional from the start.First, the rental was facilitated through Payless, and not only was the car unclean when I received it, but the staff showed zero accountability when I pointed it out. I tried to extend my rental, and despite reaching out proactively, they were unhelpful and dismissive, refusing to work with me in any way—even though I was willing to pay a reasonable fee.Instead of being offered a simple extension, I was told I’d be charged over $200 for being just six hours late, despite already having paid a deposit. I locked my card out of caution, knowing how inflated these post-rental charges can be.I also reached out to Hopper for support, and while they claimed they would follow up or advocate on my behalf, I felt like I was passed around without any real resolution. The platform takes zero responsibility for the vendors they work with, and there’s no way to talk to a real person when things go wrong.I expected a modern, tech-savvy experience—what I got was poor communication, unclear policies, and a complete lack of customer care.⸻Bottom Line:If you’re considering renting a car through Hopper—don’t.You’re better off booking directly with a rental company you trust. This experience left me stressed, overcharged, and feeling taken advantage of.
