Shoes, product itself? Perfect. However the issue starts when you're right between two sizes and have to send one pair back. Because then you have to pay for the return shipment (20€ DHL) and you actually can not ship it the way you received it. The shoe box is wrapped in plastic which is not allowed to send as regular cargo from DHL. If you want to send it with the Plastic around the box, it's an additional 30€ for shipment because you're shipping it as a "private" person, not as a return shipment from Lake where business rules would allow you to do so. So you either can not pack it the same way you received it OR you pay 50€ for sending it back. For a premium company that sells shoes that are highly individual and need to fit perfectly, this is just unnecessary pain for anyone who doesn't get the right size the first time. So I'd highly ask you to overthink these practices and maybe change them. Give us an option to return the product if you already buy them from the official website. For the future I'd probably order them from a reseller. They usually have a better return handling.
I have worn 238’s since 2019, I have 2 pairs in the upstairs closet just waiting. In 2021 I rode the HHH in Wichita Falls, Tx. It was all a matter of adjustment over the years….NEVER felt any foot discomfort whatsoever during that endurance event. I’ve been riding since 1970 and had the opportunity to try many brands, some good, some bad. Now I won’t purchase any other brand but Lake, even got a pair of the new 239’s.
This is my second pair of 302's so they must have got something right, they are comfy & wide and have just enough give to soften the pounding of long rides. my last pair did about 20,000 miles and still look ok if a tad tatty, I only purchased a new pair before a new model came along, I like to stick with what I know and trust, change is not always for the better IMHO. Only slight niggles are cost and weight, mine are 45's and weighed approx 310-320g, so they could be lighter and 20% cheaper would help. My feet are circa 105mm at BoF and I've plenty of room, comfort is great. Trying the Black model this time as I think it may wear better then the Metal Black. Lake's service was very good, arrived as ordered and super quick.
Have worn Lake shoes for many years. Navigating the Lake web site is easy and convenient. The variety is great and the cost worth every penny.Originally looking for a shoe without hot spots and found them. They fit well and look great. Have had many compliments on the shoes. The BOA closures are excellent and very easy to adjust while riding.
This is my second pair of Lakes. My ~15 yr old mx101’s are still usable but the holes in fabric have gotten bigger. The new 238s are all leather and more stout (and pricey compared to my old 101s). I hope they’re not too hot in our Montana summer. The fit and quality are great for my smallish wide feet. I hoped to use these for bikepacking this summer but am unsure how good they’ll be for hike a bike and use on the flat side of my one-by pedals. I just wish Lake offered a shoe with a flatter sole in wide widths.
Shoes seem well made and should last well unless the wires for the Boa Fails. At the price paid the shoe only comes with one Boa so it tightens at the top tight but loose at the bottom so your foot is not so secure. £150 retail for these shoes, would have been around double the price for 2 Boas
