I’ve been a big fan of Lake shoes for years and swear by my CX333 road shoes in Narrow fit. Having recently bought a gravel bike, I decided to order the MX version directly from Lake’s website. The ordering process was simple enough, but I received the shoes in Regular width instead of the Narrow I intended to buy. When I contacted customer service, they were quick to respond but refused to accept that there could have been an error on their end, despite being unable to show any evidence that I ordered the Regular width. Let's be clear, this was not my error - I made very sure I ordered the correct size and width. And, rather than resolving the issue and covering the return postage, they insisted I pay to send the shoes back myself. It’s a disappointing experience, especially given the premium nature of the brand. I had planned to reorder the correct pair, but after this experience I’ve decided not to take the risk again. In short: great shoes, but poor customer service... And if you’re ordering direct, be prepared to cover return costs even when there’s ambiguity in the order process.
For years, I suffered from numb feet while cycling and then discovered Lake Cycling wide shoes. I now have two pairs, one for the road and a winter boot. At first, the sizing was tight, and the size I needed was not in stock. Customer service was right on top of my problem and kept me informed on when the correct size would be available. The winter boots were perfect. I tell all my cycling friends and will purchase other Lake shoes in the future.
I recently purchase the Lake Gravel shoes after using their road shoes for years. I have had metatarsalgia for years and the wide Lake shoes have considerable room in the toe box. They are the only cycling shoes I have found that provide comfort and don't aggravate my condition. I love Lake!
I recently purchased the Gravel MX177 shoes and to say I’m delighted with them is an understatement !They’ve been a game changer for me. Incredibly comfortable catering perfectly to my wide feet fitting. Having had Bonts for years, I was worried that the Lake soles would be compromised but not one bit ! The soles are stiff providing a beautifully even balance through the pedal rotation providing solid and consistent power. Thank you ! 🙏🏻
Thes shoes are not avaliable in Israel eny wear it's my therd pare of cycling shoes, am using bear food stile shoes as my daily and always needed size 47 to fit my with not talking abute not feeling squished even, ordered these shoes sceptical at 46 expecting to be disappointed but not only they feet they are so roomy i even got room for after market insoles for perfect fit thank you for making them...
Great shoe, but could improve. I tried the cx219 and cx239 microfiber (white/white).Cx219 toe box is narrow, BOA straps get snagged on the tongue material, in sole is thin and hard; and may need to buy a separate insole for long distance rides, single BOA. Cx239 is comfortable in width and insole, fit is great for wide feet. I am 271mm length and 113mm width, and size 43 wide fit great. There is a pressure point on the top of my foot from the single tongue flap that digs into my ankle tendons. I knew it would cause pain on top over long rides so I ended up returning the shoes. The curved toe box makes my big toe curve slightly inwards, which I’m not sure would have been an issue or not since I returned them due to top tongue pressure point. I read online that the leather versions (black, white/black) are more forgiving on the top pressure point, but weigh more. Really wanted to like them. Wore them around the house to see if they’ll loosen up top, and threw socks over them and tested on the peloton, and knew the top pressure point would bother me over medium distance. I ride 100+ Miles weekly in the summer and need something that will work for the annual 200 mile one-day ride. To their credit, although the shoes didn’t work out, they were the best fitting out of all of the “claim to be wide” cycling shoes out there. Hopefully the next iteration will fit better. I have yet to find a wide road cycling shoe that fit. Just bit the bullet and ordered SFA Leviathan’s, but don’t have high hopes. My current gravel shoes are okay, but heavy and flexible.
Shipping and purchasing were fine. Although I was expecting free shipping for a nearly 400$ shoe. The big issue is the heel size of the wide shoe, so I am going to return it. I doubt many cyclists have extremely fat ankles to need the size that the shoe is at. Please start making wide toe-box shoes with narrow heels!
This is my second pair of Lake cycling shoes. I have a wide foot and Lake shoes are the only ones I found that fit me. For short fast rides or long, all-day-in-the-saddle outings nothing beats Lakes for comfort and reliability. If Lake made a street shoe, I’d be sporting those. I don’t exaggerate when I say my Lake cycling shoes are the best shoes I own.
