Probably the WORST online experience we have had in a long time. Imagine an 88 year old and a 76 year old trying for 2 hours to get to our social security records. Why the multiple authorization requests on devices we don't own or using apps that are a mystery to us? Do those in charge KNOW that seniors (or anyone, for that matter) are struggling with this nonsense? All we want to see are our accounts, and not doing financial business. This is truly a waste of time. Shame on the developers.
I turned to LOGIN.GOV when all hope was lost with ID.ME. Neither work. I don't think it's possible to be more fatigued with the US Government's inability to make things work properly. I'm reminded of the meme "you had one job... ."UPDATE: Finally discovered that neither of these services are necessary. We can still communicate with the government via the USPS.
Says I already have an account with mysterious "backup codes" it asks me to enter. Never heard of the company until being forced to use it to create an account for a government site and most certainly do not have any of their stupid backup codes. Will not even delete my supposed account to start over.
Can't use login.gov with an authentication app on more than one device. For example, I have Google Authenticator but I have an iPad and an iPhone - I can't get Login.gov on both those devices as the same time. I just spent an hour on the phone with Login.gov tech support and the rep didn't know that until she went and asked. But the Login.gov instructions tells you to backup the Login.gov account because "if you lose your device, you have to create a new account and start over." what? that's what I'm trying to do. Also, if I don't have that particular device when I'm trying to login, or if it's become broken, I can't login to the government agency that uses login.gov to let me login. If you're confused, join the crowd. For now I try very hard to avoid using Login.gov. And when they get hacked, I'm screwed because they have all my information. And as you know, they'll never delete it even if I delete my account. But if I delete my Login.gov account, I won't be able to login to some government websites. Again, confused?
Really bad. It won't accept my phone number despite it being the same phone I have had over a decade. I called the helpline and they were utterly unhelpful. So now I have to wait up to 10 daze to do it via snailmail, then more day waiting for it to get processed. This is costing me money.
I called to ask for help and explain the problem. The young girl with a southern accent laughed out loud. She thought my problem was funny and had no intention to helping. Nice to get paid to laugh at customers and not do the job she was hired for.
