If you want a look at true government inefficiency and want to pull your hair out for fun, just try logging in and setting up a login.gov account. Try uploading your license and taking a picture of yourself 6 times, for it to never work. Be timed out for hours until you can do it again and still not work and get timed out again. It just isn't worth it. It's terrible.
I got someone on the help desk right away who helped me to download what I needed from the social security site. the only problem is prior to helping me he asked every personal question such as ssa#; DOB, where I was born, mother's maiden name. I was very disturbed as he could steal my identity due to me providing the extensive requested info. when I was already linked to the ssa site. I was able to download what I needed, but am still very shaken.
Login.gov is an abomination. I am a retired senior staff engineer. If I had hell unsuccessfully setting up my account, I can imagine someone who isn't computer savvy attempting this. It's cumbersome and worst of all it doesn't work. It said it couldn't connect me to my phone that I have had for many years. Confusion moving you from the computer for a text message and then back to the computer. It's a mess. Taking and retaking photos is a nightmarish loop. I chose verify by mail and never received the documentation. I use the old method a lot. I don't know where I go from here.
Third time going through the process of giving up and deleting my account in order to start over again to try to get verified by this ridiculous system. How can I login to Morgan Stanley, or Schwab, or Citibank, or Fidelity, or Amazon, with a single password or a fingerprint, and it takes moving a mountain to log into the stupid system.
WORST WORST WORST procedure for using ANY kind of Gov. website- but why am I not surprised?? It's the F-ed up government?? Uploading photos doesn't work and they ADMIT that!! Before forcing us to use this ridiculous system they should make sure the Christing thing works. It doesn't and they don't care. Hackers have an easier time getting into the system than law abiding citizens. Theis government can my ass.
I'd give less if possible. Can't get hold of anyone. The helpline recordings are useless and don't address the issue. Have tried multiple times and days.The site sends me a link for identification where you have to take a picture of your id but the picture taking does not work. The area highlights and does nothing else. Contact us: does not work. Automated-useless. Have sent 2 help tickets with no response.Agree with another. Trump should get rid of this or replace it. It serves no useful purpose and to get other companies to join for id purposes is ludicrous.
login.gov sucks balls! Worst agency I have ever worked with! This should be who Trump gets rid of. Trying to help my 97 year old mother get access to her ssa login. Have been stuck in the same loop for over 5 hours. Tried to verify her identity with photos, still no luck.
Everytime I attempt to get into my SS account via Login.gov, it hangs when it wants to verify my phone number, despite they sent information to my account via that same phone number! I received 7 different letters with new verification codes, yet it always hangs at the phone number verification. Call on DOGE to rid us of this HORRIBLE Login program! Its bee 4 months and I still can't get into the account nor customer service can figure it out!
