I ordered progressive lens glasses costing over £400 from onlineopticiansuk.com on 28 March 2025. Although the order was confirmed, I never received tracking information or any updates about delivery.Despite multiple attempts to contact them by phone, email, and website form, the company did not respond at all. After waiting more than 30 days, I formally cancelled the order and requested a full refund on 28 April 2025, as allowed under UK Consumer Rights and Distance Selling regulations.The seller failed to provide the refund within the legally required 14-day period. I eventually had to raise a case with PayPal to recover my money, which took around 60 days from the initial order date.What’s worse, when Trading Standards got involved, the company stated they would simply wait for PayPal’s refund process rather than issue a refund themselves. They also misrepresented my refund request timeline to Trading Standards, apparently to avoid responsibility.Given the lack of communication, refusal to refund promptly, and similar negative reviews from other customers, it appears the company may be deliberately holding onto customer money for extended periods, potentially to benefit from the interest, before issuing refunds.My advice: avoid this company completely. If you do order, prepare for a battle to get your money back, if you ever receive your goods at all.
Awful company to deal with. Wish I never bothered.Chased order after not hearing anything for a week except the automated order confirmation from the day of my order.Got a 1 line reply stating my order would be despatched on Friday/Monday. Well, another week went by and eventually I threatened them with a credit card charge back if my order wasn't despatched by the following Friday.Another 1 line reply, no apologies, no sorry your order was despatched late, and no tracking number and no response to a query I had on the reflective coating.Also no automated email confirming despatch with the tracking ID.Tried to contact them multiple times after my order arrive asking for the proper contact details to make a formal complaint to the MD / owner, yet despite MULTIPLE emails to them, they have refused to respond to me in any way or form.As you can see from PLENTY of other reviews their service is shocking. I don't believe they keep anything in stock, therefore they have to order each set of frames.STAY AWAY AND ORDER FROM ANYONE OTHER THAN THIS COMPANY.UPDATE - They ignored EVERY SINGLE EMAIL after the one where they didn't provide the tracking ID.I've filed complaints with ALL of their suppliers (Such as Luxottica ((Who supply Oakley, Rayban etc)) and with Trading Standards and his local council.Trading Standards have opened a case file into Online Opticians Ltd / Thomas Eyewear Ltd / DK Eyewear Ltd and the idiot director/owner DARREN WILLIAMS of all these companies.This "one man band" shouldn't be allowed to trade any more. I also don't believe most of these 5 star reviews left, just look how many 1 star reviews (and I'm sure we'd all have left 0 stars if this was possible).
To be fair. The overall process is was seamless and I got exactly what I ordered and I am happy with the quality of the product and would recommend this company. Better experience than retailers and I saved some money. Only down side is that it took four weeks as mine were custom.
