Udemy doesn't deserve all the bad reviews on here. Here are the key reasons why:- It is the only platform which I know of that offers a pay-as-you-go model, rather than a subscription model. That makes it very good value, as most courses cost less than £15 (assuming you buy in the sale, which happens every few days)- If you choose your course carefully by reading the reviews, then you will find very good material out there. As you buy and complete courses, you will learn who the good instructors in particular areas, and whose style you like best. I also suggest you check the total length of videos and the course structure- Many of the reviews are about refunds. As I have not felt the need to seek a refund on any course, I can't comment on this- Some people feel it is unfair that Udemy only gives 25% to course creators. However, many couse creators themselves point out that marketing, the technology platform, payment processing etc are all very expensive. Bought a course. Tried to watch videos but the streaming facility is so poor that the video stops every few seconds. Soldiered on for as long as I could tolerate it until my patience ran out. Applied for refund by clicking the relevant link. Refund was refused because allegedly I have done too many lessons for a refund to be allowed. Tried to contact support but only a moronic AI chatbot is available - no email or phone contact. Avoid Udemy - their servers are incapable of delivering usable content and support is non-existent. They will take your money but not provide the promised service. Dictionary definition of a scam.
Udemy has a whole "Trust and Safety" department. You would think that Udemy's Trustpilot score would be their report card, right? But instead of responding to peoples' grievances (here or anywhere else) or doing much of anything to bolster confidence in the platform, their actual mission is more about implementing Udemy's anti-competitive business practices and doing everything they can to prevent instructors from introducing students to useful resources off-platform (which Udemy can't monetize).
You can't make a living selling on this site. They take 75% of the sales price and leave its content creators absolutely nothing. If you don't participate in their promotions and accept a low sales price, then they refuse to promote your classes and you never sell anything. And then they allow hateful comments on feedback reviews and do nothing about it. I would not recommend this after selling here for years.
I've used Udemy multiple times in the past without issues, but recently I subscribed to Udemy Premium. After the trial period ended, I was charged twice for the subscription. However, Udemy's support informed me that they couldn't process the payment due to an 'invalid payment' issue. Their customer support is extremely slow and hasn't provided any real solutions or assistance so far.
First of all their ratings are all fake. Please don't ever purchase any course from Udemey. That would be a total waste of your money. I purchased the course "A Complete Guide To Making A Career On Upwork" by Sagar Shakhari. This guy can't even speak English properly just reading from the script. Worse than a low-grade YouTuber. The course is full of backdated information.
Udemy refund policy is cheating. They dont return money within 30 days although they have 30 days money back garuntee. They did not return my money within 10 days of my course and i only watched 10 videos out of 100 after i skim through some videos they are not willing to pay back money even if you complain through paypal no effect and google play store are now hiding negative reviews be very careful with there refund policy . i recommend not to buy anything
