I had a Mercedes gle350d 4matic coupe…

I had a Mercedes gle350d 4matic coupe CV67 Service carried out by Ford garage due to covid. Told them to use ony geniune parts. Day after service oil leak which they tried to repair with glue. Car returned to garage, they replied again. Approx 3000miles later terrible knocking noise. Returned to local mercedes garage. Had independent engineer to strip engine where is conclusion was.Slipped bearing shell on no 2 piston. Mechanic indicated there where 2 other engines on garage floor with same problems and it was not due to oil. Also non approved oil filter again not fitted correctly. Why have there been no recall on these engines. My car had only done 27,000 mils.I have been treated disgracefully buy Mercedes and will publish. I was told by castrol oil used can cause catastrophic engine problems and letter from mercedes the same outcome.

MUCH BETTER CARS AVAILABLE FOR HALF THE PRICE

I bought my first Merc 40 years ago, it was well built, technologically ahead of most other cars and you felt safe in it. I have owned another 6 mercs in the last 37 years and it is patently obvious that as the years roll by the build quality has decreased markedly and the technology is no better than some Korean or Japanese cars. We currently have a C250, a nice looking car and nice to drive, but.......The gear selecter lever is where half the rest of the world has the indicators, on a stalk on the right side of the wheel. The Command Nav system is useless, it can only accept the most basic English words and anything slightly complex, it just makes a guess which is usually nowhere close eg " Glanton way" to which it replies " Stanton drive??" it would be funny if you were listening to someone else trying to use it but not when you're trying to find an address, other than that it is clunky and over complicated, which has been widely criticised by motoring journos. Also, you would think that a $100K 2016 model car would have Bluetooth pretty sorted? wrong!! The Bluetooth connects to my phone roughly 75% of the time, and never when you really need it. The emergency braking system is dangerous and can't be adjusted or turned off eg someone walks in front of the car 50 metres up the road, whilst the car would be reasonably close to said person, it would be nowhere near hitting them, the car goes into full emergency braking and you are just there for the ride, if there is a car close behind you you had better hope they are paying attention and have very good brakes, this "feature" has nearly caused many more accidents than it has saved. Servicing at the dealership is fine if you sell a kidney each time, needless to say I have it serviced at a non dealer/specialist for half the dealership cost. Yes it is a good looking car and nice to drive (mostly) but for half the price, provided you are happy to lose the snob factor, you can get same or better technology and up to 7 years warranty (as I right this I think Mercedes have finally gone to 5 years)

Premium Brand no more

Premium Brand no more. Purchased an E class from Mercedes. Right from the get go i tried to explain the front wing had been damaged and re painted. The manager tried to argue it wasn't, he even turned to me and told me "we're not some back street Garage", shocking attitude. I have since had three services and I was left waiting for over an hour on each. The last one i could see my car waiting in the collection bay but service dept. just left me waiting, no apology. Its a shame, the service you would expect from a main dealer is not worth the extra money. Buy an Audi or Lexus, far better customer service.

Truro Mercedes clearly and abhorrently…

Truro Mercedes clearly and abhorrently tried to take advantage of my elderly parents. They took their W204 C class in for the safety recall on the rotten subframes. (which they call a gesture of goodwill, refusing it to call it a safety recall for legal reasons) And were presented with a list of defects highlighted in red that needed urgent attention. Including tyres that they should have done there and then. But that actually had 4.4mm of tread on !!! And when they had the subframe off already on the recall wanted a further £365.28 for the metal backing plates/stone guards to be replaced. Which I have now bought from Mercedes up north and had delivered to my door for £22 (including postage !) a pair and fitted at my local garage. And quoted a further £366 to replace the rear toe arm. Total quoted was £1061.28, not including the tyres as my parents refused to have them done. They were already charging Mercedes Uk £3,932 for the recall and then wanting to be paid again for putting new parts back on instead of the old parts, when they had the subframe off already. Basically quoted the standard price as if they had to strip the car from fresh. One job, paid twice. Even had the cheek to try to convince my parents that they were doing it all cheap for them. Absolutely fuming, this is bordering on fraud in my opinion. Tried raising my concerns with Mercedes Uk and this dealership, all impervious to being challenged. Have referred to both trading standards and the Motor Industry Ombudsman. Any trust in Mercedes main dealers is now gone, will NEVER use them in the future. I let them do the subframe, then had my local trusted garage do any other bits that actually needed doing.Notice that all the good reviews on here are all from wealthy people walking into a Mercedes showroom and being treated like royalty whilst they hand over bucket loads of cash for a brand new car. Well wait till it starts breaking down and see how much customer service you get then ! You'll be eating your kind words....

Feel Let Down

I contacted Mercedes for service quote at their Taunton garage, the one I’ve always used, (this is their Exeter call centre.)I was quoted for the wrong service even after telling them what was showing on my dashboard. I rang back for a more competitive price, then told I’ve been quoted for the wrong service, re-quoted me for B7 service over £1300.. yes over £1300 only 34000 mile.I rang another Mercedes’ dealership and was quoted £830 for the same service. I’ve tried several times to contact the Exeter call centre left messages, no call back as they say on their answerphone. Poor customer service.

Avoid Mercedes.

I have been waiting 3 days for Mercedes breakdown cover and it is extremely difficult to get through to someone. When I eventually do get through to someone they put me on hold and the phone miraculously hangs up. Avoid Mercedes all together. Their service is awful.

Mercedes worst ever customer service

If I could give zero points I would. Three times I have filed a complaint about customer service, each time they say they will contact me within 5 working days. When time is up you contact them again for an update guess what... You get another message stating someone will contact you in 5 working days and so it goes on. Today I even escalated the compliant to a CEO of Mercedes and even he didn't even have the decency to respond,as much use as a chocolate teapot. All the CEO's must be off somewhere sunning themselves in a far away land living off customers misfortunes. For any CEO that doesn't notice that 76%of reviews are 1 star clearly shows the presumption that they do not care.
