Rented a car in Greece and paid £300 deposit and these scumbags have messed me around for 2 months telling me they’ve sent it back to me and they definitely haven’t, also they keep telling me I’m not on their system so they can’t do anything. They’re now not replying to my emails.Do not use them at all costs.
Do not use Alamo at all costs. Picked up a vehicle at Heathrow - on initial inspection I noted no issues - BUT the car was wet and parked in shade. Just over 2 hours later on arrival at destination when the vehicle was dry and in the sun a very minor dent was noted in the drivers door - definitely not caused by ourselves. Informed the branch immediately. Bottom line is they essentially called us liars and charged us for the repair.Europcar give you 24hours to report any additional minor damage because that recognize that conditions may affect your ability to inspect. Do not use this company
We had a really bad experience with Alamo London Heathrow. After letting us stand outside the office doors guarding our luggage for 1h with no chance to sit down - with a 2 year old, a 79 year old and a 87 year old, we were offered two cars smaller than the category we booked (7 seater booked, 5 seater was offered). This wouldn't have worked due to our amount of luggage and child seat. After 1h, suddenly a people carrier one size larger then we booked got available - for a 3000 GBP surcharge for the 10 days. We had already paid 1000 GBP for our original rental in advance. Included in that surcharge was a "prime location" pick up fee - ridiculous as we had a valid reservation already for the same location. The car we got in the end was dirty and in bad condition. It hadn't been cleaned at all after the last customer. I do not recommend using Alamo out of London Heathrow at all.
Was able to book the car without prepaying and could pay at pick up at Stansted Airport. Efficient and professional at pickup in car rental village, staff were not excessively pushy in purchasing excess insurance which some companies have been in the past. The agent on return Tom O'Donnell was personable and organised and the car was returned speedily without undue delay which is important when you have a flight to catch.
During our reantal period, the roof of the car is leaking water. When we return the car and tell them about this issue. After a phone call with the manager, the staff tell us, it is oke. So we left and take our plane. After 1 month, they charge me GBP 2500.- And this is what it said: "Incident Details: Scrape and dent on roof of vehicle found upon inspection, they reported on pickup that roof was leaking water."And it was US tell them the car roof is leaking. I don't know how I can damage the roof. This campany treat an honest customer with a fine of 2500 GBP.
I had been gullible, assuming that the radical reviews were exaggerated. Boy was I wrong.. to start point by point:1)Car was booked for 9AM, it was delivery around 10:30 (due to "issues").2) Got into the car and the steering wheel and inner driver's side door was soaked in caramel coffee remains, sticky with quite the odour. Admittedly after I raised this with Alamo - they "helped" with the cleaning.3) Got a premium car that had issues with Carplay/Android - tried to reset the interface, and the usual steps. No dice.4) Steering was constantly veering to the left, presumably the wheels or the suspension was uneven.5) Finally, the smack to the cheek was that they argued that the tires had been cut and requested 405£ for 1 tire replacement. The tires had been already cut when I received the vehicle and luckily I had made a very detailed video of the whole car. Will pursue this legally.Updates will follow to this review.
Dreadful experienceWe rented a car for a long weekend in Saltsburg mid March 2024. It started well, the car was ready when we arrived and we even got a "Small upgrade" for free. The service at the reception desk was good.We returned the car slightly late (30 min), and tried contacting the office by phone and email to warn them and inquire about potential extra costs. No luck. No response.Cost of the rental was initially £153 (£180). Less than 4 hours after dropping the car, to our surprise we got a final invoice for an extra 103 euros. Some of the charges surprised us (RATE CHARGE 38.31 Euros, 38.31, WINTER FEE 4.16 euros, SURCHARGE 12.32, plus VAT of course and a contract fee!!)We then emailed them back twice asking what those charges were for...on the 22/03 - no response, on 05/04 no response. Money has been taken from us...Will not be using Alamo again, and will not recommend it!!
Rented a car from Gatwick airport to use to bring the family to legoland! Quick and easy rental Ben served us and was very helpful! We had a issue with the car I phoned them and had to drive a hour to go back with the car but they waved the petrol as a Courtesy gave us a new car to use quick and easy change over returned easy! Definitely will use again even tho we had an issue with the car it was a manufacturer issue not their fault but I had 3 kids with us and wasn’t risking it to happen again!
Absolute disgrace of a company. Leave a car, noone checks and then they email you that they are charging you £100 deductible for a windshield, when there was nothing when I left it. Fyi, Alamo is owned by Enterprise. So both car rentals are off my list of places to rent cars. Never again, and I will make sure that everyone I know won't use you either.
