I was using the EV charger by the Park and Ride at hermistion gate, Edinburgh. They charged my card (hold) £45 for the past 8 days, phoned my bank and was advised to phone this company as they still not released the money. Phoned charge place CS to be told I have to wait until 7 working days past for them to release the money back. I guess I will never use this cowpany again even if it's free.
I bought an EV thinking there was a great network of chargers throughout Scotland. Don’t get me wrong, they have lots of chargers, but my experience is very few work. Fortunately I charge at home and never ended up being stranded but twice went we’re on a road trip and wanted to go further so used their app to find the nearest working charger only to arrive and find it out of service so had to head home. Both times I called them and they couldn’t have cared less. They just said the app hadn’t been updated to show it was broken. I would keep checking hours later and the app still showed it was working when they knew fine it wasn’t. Don’t rely on these cowboys to meet your EV needs. If you do find a working one your in the lucky few. I wish I read the reviews here and on App Store before trusting this company to be in any way reliable.
Nothing works, there is a £75 fee to start the charge, it doesn't recognise when you've finished the (very expensive) charge and don't get me started on the app. It's everything wrong with owning an electric vehicle.Seriously, sort you shiz out, you're an embarrassment. If you need to get round Scotland using these chargers, you're going nowhere.
Unauthorised payment taken from my account for a never asked for RFID card, on an account which has never been used. This was never requested and reported to my bank. Chargeplace Scotland do not reply to emails and do not give customers the ability to delete their own personal details, payment information or account.
Arrived to charge my car, wouldn’t work. Called them and they said my account was too new, and their charger was too old so there was nothing they could do. I also ordered my charging card in March, input all my payment details obviously expecting payment to be taken immediately or at least within 30 days, but instead it was taken 4 months later “due to numerous administrative changes”. Is that even allowed? Who knows.. maybe they’ll process my other payments 3 years down the line.
Have used on several occasions and has not run smoothly yet. Firstly they take a significant pre-authorisation amount which is gone from your account for several days after charging. There is no reason they should have to do that any more. The amount that you are charged per session seems very inconsistent and is not transparent, and the app is woeful. To be fair, customer service has been quite good in the past, however I have just been questioning a charging fee with them and they have no record of it on their system, and there is no record on the app, so they have just stopped communicating. The only record of it seems to be on my bank account!!!! Plan to avoid. They will be an absolute last resort for me from now on.
Staff were good over the phone helping me get my charger to start charging my car. But they took a £75 prepayment off my bank and then charged me again for the kw usage. Im still waiting for my 75 quid to be available to me 5 days later. They blame the bank but thats nonsense. Lidl take a £40 prepayment and then take the value of power used and the remaining money is back in your bank within minutes. Will never use Charge Scotland again for that single reason.
Before I launch - there are extremely nice people on the other end of the phones through all of this. But as nice as they were they didn’t help. This is the most appalling experience I have had with car charging. I have been in an electric car since 2014. I have driven across Europe, the US, all over UK - and then to I had the pisspoor idea of driving the highlands of Scotland. There’s chargers everywhere! What could go wrong. Mistake!!! I tried nine of these piece of shit chargers from Harris through caithness and none work. They are the only game in town. And the chargers are absolutely in appalling condition. One of the chargers they claimed had worked that morning was covered in cobwebs. All were beaten to shit and never managed to get one to work. So you are screwed driving an ev in the north of Scotland. Terrible for tourism. They are so bad it makes me wonder whether this is a Machiavellian trick by big oil to turn consumers off EVs in an oil revenue dependent country
Just back from driving NC500 & round Orkney, over 800mikes & used all CPS chargers with Electroverse RFID card. No issues with charging, there was always availability with no waiting and never any concerns regarding range between chargers. Overall very pleasantly surprised, well done ChargePlace Scotland 👍
