Halifax Insurance and its employees…

Halifax Insurance and its employees carried out an unauthorised and deceitful telephone call to my builder asking not specific questions about a quotation that I had asked him to prepare for submission to Halifax Insurance and did not ask him a single question about the insurance quotation but instead asked questions about the property, about me, about work the builders had been asked to quote for and all the time the builder could here the telephone call was being recorded and in the end realising it was a 'fishing' telephone call that was attempting to have him, the builder, answer inappropriate questions that were been put to him that were designed to make it seem as if I was attempting to have the builder do work that was not to do with the damage caused by the insurance incident!Deceitful lying Halifax Insurance Company And Its Employees Stay Away From Them!

Halifax home insurance really isn’t…

Halifax home insurance really isn’t worth the money you pay for it, if you have a water leak (probably the most common claim)…they will only pay for damage to the property (not repair of the pipe or investigation)…then they put a compulsory £500 excess, so removing most of the chance of any valuable payout…plus it counts against you and provides them with even more excuse to ramp up your renewal…so a £350 repair paid out for a couple of hours work, all down to me…read the terms and conditions carefully as there are many more reasons not to pay than provide the cover you have paid for

Dont go near. They never pay out !!

Had a main water pipe burst under the floorboard. No water in the house for 2 days. Mum 90 Dad 92. When I called up I was told that they needed a report to see if it was wear and tear...It would take 48 hours to assess. Disgusting. This is the third time in about 2 years we have been declined. 1 for the roof repair. 1 for a blocked drain and now a burst pipe.It is criminal that they take your money and always find fine print to weasle out of paying you.Sick of it!!

Halifax use inadequate solicitors

Over the past decade, I have been a valued customer of Halifax Home Insurance, which has provided comprehensive coverage, including legal assistance in the event of disputes. In August, I initiated a legal action against a boiler insurer for breach of contract. The case was straightforward, and I was confident in its potential for a favorable outcome.I submitted my claim to Halifax Insurance, who promptly connected me with their insurer, Arc Legal. Arc Legal acknowledged the validity of my legal insurance case and promptly provided all relevant details to a solicitor named Lyons Davidson. However, Lyons Davidson’s representation was inadequate. Instead of diligently examining my case, they attempted to find every possible loophole to invalidate my claim. It is evident that Arc Legal (the insurer) and Lyons Davidson (the solicitor) are actively working to undermine the validity of my claim. The legal advice provided by Lyons Davidson was severely lacking in depth and expertise. Consequently, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my insurance policy with Halifax.

Had a small leak in May

Had a small leak in May, it’s now the end of October. I sorted my own flooring out, sorted quickly. They sent people to redo the bench seat, they used Highbury Homes. To say it’s an awful job is an understatement. Screws sticking out, wonky lid, nails sticking out, paint on the kitchen units. This just names a few problems. Do not use this company.

Dodgy renewal practices

Moved to Halifax 1 year ago, decent policy and price. This year I spotted only on my bank statement that the renewal premium had been hiked by 20% (no renewal advice had been sent). Got on their web site to get their phone number, found a page asking whether I was considering leaving. Said yes, due to the price, got a page that said "we may be able to offer you a lower price". Got a new quote - up only 1.4% this time. Accepted. Dodgy business practice all round. Then I come here and wish I'd checked Trustpilot before, judging by the difficulties getting a claim dealt with.

Absolutely disgusted

Absolutely disgusted. After 3 weeks wait and then when got all quotes together was declined. Was told a pipe block it wasn't and it had caused a major water problem in lounge, roof company said it was a lead problem on bay. Was told it would fail if was guttering all done on a app !!!! So after one claim in 40 years I'm done. Need £2000 to sort. Waste of time having insurance covers nothing even with my extra emergency cover. Avoid this insurance at all costs. Two days later send new rate extra £70 a year cancelling asap

Absolutely disgraceful

Absolutely disgraceful. We've never ever had a claim in and this year for the first time we have had to. Once they give you a claim number you don't get a reply to your e mails, they cut you off on a phone call, unless you phone again and say its emergency, where they then say sorry systems playing up can't get on. Who by the way when he did pick up the phone he sounded like I'd just woke him up. 😡

Absolutely shocking customer service

Absolutely shocking customer service. I reported my claim in July . I am still living in a demolish site in my dinning room and kitchen, bathroom since my leak. Halifax arranged for Polycon to attend my property to assess the damage . Polycon decided to take my 1/2 dining room wall back to brick and remove my dry lining, certainly not instructed by me. One would think the Halifax who assigned this company would check what work they are doing on customers Homes and if this meets within the policy. Now the Halifax say the dry lining has to be paid for by me - why I never assigned the company nor did I instruct them to remove my dry lining ! Halifax say we will plaster the wall and paint it but won’t put you back in a habitable home due to their instruction to an outside agency and inform me that with out the dry lining I will have damp and the same issues! WOW. My complaint handler has been on holiday - a very long holiday since July clearly - and I have had zero updates or contact, absolutely shocking. From what you think is a huge organisation what a disappointing service all round. To think I paid my full 12 month Premium up front to receive such an appalling service when I needed them. I now have a complaint registered with them which I am told is 8 weeks for my final response . What another 8 weeks since July for you to get your act together. REALLY?

Appalling service

Appalling service. They do not pick up the phone. I’ve tried for several days to contact them following storm damage to my roof. No response for 5 days. Phone cuts off. Resorted to their appalling online claim system. They said an email had been sent, nothing received. Had to get roof repaired, they now say I should have waited. I will be taking my claim to the Financial Ombusdman and suggest anyone in a similar position does the same. Disgraceful.
