dirty tricks

not even one star for this appalling and charlatan outfit, and in my opinion, any one should be able to award no star at all. My wife and I paid the whole premium in advance for building and contents, and also emergency cover. This was in November of 2023 to begin on the 24th. When we experienced a leaking roof and contacted the halifax, to keep it short they refused to pay for, or to carry out any repairs at all, because "we had not had more than 25mm of rain in a 24 hour period and the wind speed had not exceeded 50 kilometers per hour for 30 days". regardless of the fact that we had water running down the wall in our lounge and it was raining. when I gently suggested that this was a little ridiculous, the young lady to whom I was speaking, and I know that she was simply repeating what she had been instructed to say, told me that that it was stated in the booklet that we had not received until after we had taken out the policy and paid in good faith, all via the internet site. still extremely annoyed and confideent that I will not have my premium refunded, which would be the decent thing for the halifax to do.I will henceforth remain, an implacable enemy to all things Halifax related and will direct all of my family and friends in this vein.James Whitehead.

Samsung 50 inch TV accidentally knock…

Samsung 50 inch TV accidentally knock off TV Table when pulled out to retrieve my grandchild toy. Im not able to kneel down due to knee replacment so reason it was pulled out.Turned round and knock TV over onto carpet....No external damage as managed to break the fall holding onto one of the legs. But unfortuantly something internal had failed and the TV wouldn't work meaning no picture at all.Call Halifax insurance's and I was asked to complete a form and include photos or a Video...well added a photo but rejected as this didn't show anything other than a blank TV screen so tried to upload a video but struggled with that as to large to upload 20 second video I personally found this to hard to do. TV collected by electrical engineers I was told they are not to investigate the TV operation in my home or on my propery it had to be taken away for inspection yet this was ignored and they plugged TV in and tried to get it working but failed to. Few days later they called me to say it was down to wear an tear and not covered under acidental damage and samsung would cover this under warranty normally but its a year out of warranty? . If it was under warranty and I admitted truthfully it had been knock off the table as mentioned the warranty would be void and they would say accidentally damaged so I can't win either way so Halifax home insurance is in my experience this is not fit for purpose...I have the top Gold cover new for old? I tried to fully cover myself but it doesn't work when you need it.I have made a complaint but got me no where waist of time .Just to add there was a £100 access and told more than once this might affect my insurance renewal... just to scare me off making the claim.

Just received my house insurance…

Just received my house insurance renewal quote. This year it has risen over 27% with no explanation. Never had a claim, so for what reason could they justify this? Was quoted £457 but after using a well known comparison site I was quoted under £140 for the same cover but settled for £160 with a very well known insurance firm also with the same cover. If you have been with the Halifax for years you are paying too much, as they no doubt think that you will not go elsewhere no matter what the cost. Be warned do a comparison! You will be shocked at how you have been taken for a mug over the years and it is not has though Halifax has amazing reviews either! Seems the longer you have been with them, the more they will increase the price! Absolutely shocking!

ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS!!!!

ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS!!!!Have been insurance with halifax for my home for past 6 years, never made a claim or alleged claim. Unfortunately in the past few weeks i was forced to due to an electric shortage issue which cause several rooms in my house to be without electricity and a freezer in the garage to break down which costed me in loss food contents items for over £700. Made the claim and the nightmare started with the most ignorant under-qualified call centre workers. They asked me A) to send pictures of the freezer, which i did no issues; B) send a full break down list of food loss and individual costs, again I did. Three days went by and eventually got a call from some very under-trained and clueless lady that shown the real scam of halifax building and contents insurance; no electric shortage and loss in power are covered by halifax, off course why would they....they collect premiums but provide no service in return!! And also no cover for the broken down freezer, again off course "building and content insurance" that covers no contents and building related items. I was told that no matter what the loss food items in the freezer were, the insurance would only cover £250.They never disclosed that before, they never sent me any paperwork to tell me that, THEY conveniently withheld this when spoken to two advisers, funny that right?? They were waiting for a list that was clearly pointless to compile to then protect themselves from paying out by making up an excuse and a rule AD HOC to make sure they didn't have to pay out or provide support and cover. Funny how that worked out eh, they could have said to me first time if it was the truth, but instead wasted my time in asking me to write an itemised food list and individual costs for something they already decided NOT to pay,Asked if i was covered for the freezer breaking down and they said obviously i wasn't why would i...just because i as paying for a building and contents insurance i expected to be covered for building and contents loss??? How crazy of me right.....what an absolutely lot of scammers...no issues collecting premiums and paying themselves huge commissions with them, but when its time to provide their customer support they disappear...they find all sort of clauses that protects their backs....funny that.Stay away people, halifax homes insurance = scam.they take your money and give nothing in return!!!1

Awful Service

I can only reiterate what has already been said by many before me, and that the customer service, and then delivery of that service being dreadful. I have been trying to claim for a leaking pipe since Feb/March time, and have hit stumbling block after stumbling block. Complaining twice, and having that complaint upheld twice I was given compensation (£100 and £50 respectively) Now, you think that regulating themselves and admitting liability twice would mean they get their act together, but no, we're still here waiting for a settlement, and today I have found out that the figure they pay out will be agreed by their own tradesmen (not who's doing the work) and will be subsequently less than what has been quoted for. I will enquire if their builders would like to come and do the work at those rates, but know the answer. There are so many better options out there and my rant will make no difference to what they do or how they do it, but please take your time and choose an insurer who may cost a little more, but will offer the service that helps.

Waste of money, worst customer service.

Waste of money. Horrible customer service, no call backs as promised, provide email address to send photos that is a no reply so all bounced back, twice. Then declined claim on contents as after 4 months we took everything to dump as couldn’t live with the smell. This is there game, ignore you! Don’t buy from them. 1 claim in 40 years horrific experience, going to Ombudsman.

DO NOT take your home or contents…

DO NOT take your home or contents insurance with Halifax. Firstly, unless you have a bank account with Halifax, you are unable to access any insurance documents or make claims on line, so you have to telephone, and go through all the AI generated rubbish before you speak to a human.During my first and only claim for damage to Apple laptop, you end up dealing with a company called Davies Group, which is a claims handler, who then patch you through to a dedicated services company who want your Insurance excess before any work. I paid my £200 excess for an Apple Mac screen repair costing £400, but after 4 weeks still do not have my laptop back. There is absolutely no communication from either Davies Group or the repair servcie company and only when you ring them up do they explain what;'s going on.My latest call had someone tell me they cant repair the Laptop until it has been discoonected from the cloud, which it has been.Absolutely shocking service.Find another insurace company.

Made one and only claim with Halifax…

Made one and only claim with Halifax and they send a rude surveyor who told me him self that the valuation sheet for labour and materials he was using was around 4 years out of dated. Quoted my repair at a ridiculously low amount, refused to use their own contractor, my quotes were coming back at 3 x what the cash settlement was and all Halifax said was, wait for the complaints department to contact you which will be up to 8 weeks.... No help what so ever, complete waste of money

Called to cancel my policy as moving out. Tiffany in the Newport office was extremely helpful and helped to change address for other products we have with Halifax which I hadn’t thought about. Lovely customer service manner over the phone as well. Tiffany thank you so much for your help!
