Review Time
Like others has said ‘ I wish I had read the reviews first ‘. I took out Halifax home insurance and emergency cover that covered my boiler system.I’m on my fifth day no hot water / heating. I have been told every day that some one was going to come. I have been put through every department possible to be told ‘ I’m sorry I don’t deal with this I will put you through to the right department.. needless to say they didn’t. How they can take our money and not provide a service we pay for boggles my mind. As I can see reading these reviews they make common practice of it. Fat cats lining their pockets me thinks
THE HOME EMERGENCY COVER STATES IT COVERS BLOCKED DRAINS, BUT THIS APPEARS NOT TO BE QUITE TRUE. IF YOU HAVE FAECES COMING THROUGH THE DRAIN COVER THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED UNLESS IT MAKES ITS WAY INSIDE THE HOUSE, EVEN THOUGH I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DRAIN AND IT IS ON MY PROPERTY. THEY JUST SAY "terms and conditions".
We had unfortunate cause to claim when a neighbour’s very large tree fell onto our property. We called to claim and we’re told not to worry they would deal with everything for us. Great we thought! But Halifax’s customer service was shocking, from communication to the cowboy contractors that they got to do the work! I wouldn’t insure with them again if they were the last company on earth and would give minus 5 stars if I could. They were so bad that we even had to get our own contractors to fix some things that they said they couldn’t. Dreadful, shocking appalling and anything else derogatory that you can think to describe them
It is a shame I did not read the comments made previously! Likewise when I made a claim (first in over 40 years) and a customer for many years the process was finicky and the staff brusque and unhelpful. It made me feel like I was being treated as a fraudster and at one point I felt it would be easier for me to simply cover the cost of repair myself. I will not be renewing my policy now. very stressful.
I can honestly say it's pretty pointless having a policy with this company. Firstly, it takes ages to submit a claim and then they find anyway of not paying. Want numerous photographs but never send an assessor out to see the damage. It's very frustrating and upsetting dealing with this company. I hope there are better companies about.
Shocking. Don’t waste your money. 90 year old had leak in roof. Has never claimed from insurance and they are refusing to even file a claim. How can a company be so cruel when they have had their policy there for 20 years. This company are not an insurance company as they do everything in their power to not put through a claim. The person googled the weather and told them there was no wind in their area at that day even though there was torrential rain and they cannot help. Surely with this amount of negative reviews the insurance ombudsman should really have a look. I am going to write to them and make an official complaint.
Absolutely awful so far! We took this policy out approx 2 years ago (after being recommended by our mortgage advisor). We have never claimed on home insurance. We had a leak in the bathroom caused by crack in the shower tray. My husband called the insurance and explained we had water come through the ceiling. He was told he had to log it on their system. And they would contact us. This was on the Monday, by Thursday we still hadn’t heard anything. I called the insurance company and I was immediately told I would have to pay excess, which we were fully aware of and that my insurance premium would probably go up next year. I was made to feel like I was causing a problem the colleague then told me that sanitary wear was not included. When we looked at the policy it clearly says it does. She told me I would need to organise a plumber to assess the situation and upload photos etc which we did and a quote. Again we did this. Nobody contacted us. So I called the following Tuesday and spoke to a lady who was a little more helpful. She said the plumber needs to put it in writing why the tray broke! I explained he’s not a detective I don’t even know why it has cracked. I explained I was surprised as an insurance company they didnt send someone out. She was surprised and apologised I hadn’t been offered this. She said she would log it and I would hear from a surveyor within 24 hours this was Tuesday it now Saturday. The colleague also said she would raise this with the complaints team. All I’ve had is a text message! Worst customer service ever!
We’ve been with Halifax home insurance for years. Last year we had a leak from our shower. It was during the heatwave. I took photos etc of the damage. They send an awful loss adjuster to assess and you’d have thought he was working for M15. He really unnerved me. His ‘expert’ opinion was that the damage wasn’t anything to do with the drain pipe. He blamed it on the sealant and of course this ‘expert’ got his way we didn’t get any help. One reason cited was that the flooring was dry. The temperature had been almost 40 for several days. Halifax did not care at all and we were treated like criminals? Never made a claim before and we’re in our 60s. Awful, awful experience it really upset me.
I am moving house and wanted to transfer my contents insurance to my new home. Halifax couldn't find my address on their computer so have told me that they can't insure me.I have had no problem changing address with DVLA. Lloyd's bank. Scottish Power, Mbna credit card and many others. What a poor inexcusable service.
If I could give a 0 star review I would.I've had home insurance with Halifax for numerous years and have always been a loyal customer. Back in April I had a flood due to a burst pipe and have been unable to stay at my home since (8 months). Firstly, they sent a surveyor to see the damages. Then I heard nothing for weeks having to chase them up constantly, to only be told that another surveyor needed to come out, which he did. Then another. Then another. Finally a company were organised to come and remove the ceiling in my kitchen as it had fallen down. And after 4 months dehumidifiers were placed in my property which took a further 8 weeks. There was then a delay in the drying company giving the drying certificate to the insurance company. They insurance company asked myself to get 2 builders quotes but would not pay out what was recommended so we had to go with a maintenance company that Halifax choose (cowboy builders at best). These builders could not complete the work at the price Halifax had given, thus another surveyor had to come and approve the work. When the work finally started the builders failed to communicate, don't show up and don't do all jobs required as per the scope. Theu have been at my property a maxamum of 2 hours a week. Instead of replastering a damp, mouldy wall they've just painted over it. The door was supposed to have be replaced in my kitchen, they've also just painted it. I previously had a corner unit in my kitchen, they have put a regular unit in, leaving a gap underneath which you can see right up to the ceiling. It's been roughly 2 months since the work started and it isn't finished. Halifax simply state that the maintenance company get payed for the jobs they carry out and not how long it takes them. The end date for the job was supposed to have been in November, then December 15th and it is still ongoing. I am continuously having to contact Halifax with issues or chase them up when no work has been carried out for days. They have no consideration for my pets (cats) which I have to lock up daily so they don't get under the builders feet, only for the builders not to even show up. I would not recommend Halifax home insurance
