Been a claim free customer for some years now, tried to claim for Roller Garage doors after they became damaged during use, got the usual story (I knew I would) this is classed as a "mechanical failure" and we're not paying anything, your home and contents doesn't cover it (Or anything else really) etc etc - they closed the claim and suggested they had e-mailed me - which they hadn't - Best avoided - just another slippery insurance company.
Customer since 1986.Tried to claim for a broken tile on my roof. The lady on the phone used every trick in the book to avoid making a payment.Renewal came on today as well. Not being renewed so that's a loyal customer gone after 39 years.Got new insurance with quotemehappy at a much lower price.
Today I spoke to a member of Halifax Claim team,June Brown.I am in my late 70‘s and registered disabled after several mini strokes.I was nervous and ….as it was over 15 years since we last had a claim on our house insurance. I hadn't a clue how to put a claim in for damage caused by a severe storm.Ms Brown was incredibly helpful and kind and I highly recommend anyone seeking assistance to speak to her! She explained everything connected with the claim patiently and in great detail …taking time for it all to register with me! I cant tell you how much I appreciate her compassion and understanding….qualities that made a tremendous difference to me.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Halifax home insurance to everyone.
If i could give minus 1000 I would. This is an absolute disgrace of a service, which I do not recommend to anyone. Fortunately for me I had never needed them before, however in the freezing cold my boiler packed up.....no problem I thought I've got insurance!!!! How wrong I was the Halfax could not attend for 24 hours and I'm disabled plus elderly plus I hadn't hot water or heating. So I had to get an emergency independent engineer and they sorted the problem out! So much for taking out cover!!!!
Like all others on here would give none if it were possible. Storm Darragh lifted some slates and ridge tiles from my roof, claim rejected as caused by 'wear and tear' and lack of maintenance, despite loft being bone dry apart from where tiles lifted off. Why insure Victorian houses if they regard them as worn out even though they are better built than modern homes?Con merchants, they have collected buildings premiums for years and won't acknowledge storm damage, shame on them.
The best measure of the insurance company is when you make a claim. I was burgled whilst on holiday in Barbados. Firstly, I was able to easily log my claim whilst on holiday via the online chat. This enabled me to understand what evidence I need to bring back.Secondly, Halifax called me on my return (it was a busy time due to the recent storm claims) and quickly processed/validated my claim. They even text me in advance of the call so I know it wasn’t a junk call.Thirdly, they paid my claim within 2 weeks of the incident. The initial cost of the policy was also very competitive .Overall I couldn’t have wanted a better experience, excellent!Personally, I think this is the advantage of dealing with a big established and reputable company like Lloyds Banking Group (Halifax are part of LBG).
If i could i would leave 0 stars. Bully tactics, took months to give me a decision. I had a pipe leaking before going Halifax, was planning to make a claim, cancelled and had the leak fixed myself. Joined Halifax, Found a new leak and we had flooding in 2021 due to heavy rain. The jobs were quoted by 2 different contracts who sent me a word document and i put it into PDF. So my name shows that i created it. Hold no merit. Lost adjuster said they will only pay less that £2k. Was not happy put in a complaint. They sent, what it seemed like a private investigator. Asked me question that had no relevance to the claim i.e. my kids name and DOB. Fought back and forth, he kept trying to make excuses, avoiding to paying. Finally they sent there own contractor. Who came out and said it is really bad and i was right and it will cost allot of money to fix. ( More than 2K). They still delayed, at the end i gave up 7 months later issues got worse. I told them to forget the claim, i will be doing the works myself and that they are a complete waste of time. The investigator decided to find something he could use to say it was a bogus claim even though he had been to my house and can see the damages. Said the quotes i send has my name, and the damp is caused by the previous leak and that i am lying and this is fraud. I replied to his bogus claim with 19 page letter and thought that was the end of that in 2021. Found out now after searching everywhere he put a fraud marker on my name without informing me and replying to my email. AVOID HALIFAX AT ALL COST. I am now on having to spend more time and more money to remove this bogus Fraud claim which could take weeks or months. And there is no real help anywhere. I cant open up a basic account. They will bully you out of paying, they will mistreat you and make you feel belittled. I have never done any fraud in my life and to be honest i never been so worried.
Would give 0. Any excuse not to pay out. Storm damages and they say it was wear and tear. All from a picture of the damage. Never sent anyone out. No issues before the storm and have a home report confirming no absolutely no issues. To get told that “things can go on behind the scenes and need to maintain the home”! Changing insurers will never use again!
I raised a claim and the Halifax investigation team didn’t do their job properly. I’ve had Two independant builders who specialise in damp, and who both confirmed the cause and effect of my damp to my conservatory wall. It was from my next door neighbours leaking overflow (evidence of this provided) into my home. The Halifax investigation team didn’t call on that independant expertise evidence and thought they knew better. That evidence they provided proved to me with no doubt the root cause. Both builders had seen this before and confirmed the cause and diagnosed the effect. They hadn’t spoken or knew each other. The reason the Halifax investigator has given me for the damp was incorrect.Ignorance, apathy, and incompetence from the investigation team. Or, maybe too much work to do their job effectively, who knows, but it’s a terrible mistake and service. You have got this case wrong. 24 + years of loyalty with this insurance company and the first time I needed help they let me down. I’ve obviously now changed my insurance company.
To say I’m frustrated is an understatement. The recent storm took the roof and the front off my log cabin/garden room in my front garden. I made the claim online as instructed and a week or so later got a call to say a loss adjuster would be out to assess. Also that he would tell me if my claim would be passed and settled. He duly came out, the damage is indisputable as the whole front is lying flat in a pile and the roof is completely off! He took photos and of course I asked if and when my claim would be settled. He tells me it’s not up to him and he has to go back to Halifax with his report. He gave me his email address and said I should contact him for anything if required. So we’re now 6 weeks in and he has not answered several emails and when I try to call Halifax the automated service just cuts me off telling me my claim is not an emergency!! I fully understand that there must have been hundreds of claims that were emergencies however surely those claims have been dealt with by now? My policy clearly states that building covers outbuildings therefore I am sure I am covered but reading the reviews on here I’m half expecting them to try to get out of paying up!! It’s just so frustrating if they could just tell me my claim will be met I could start by getting builder in to at least clear the debris instead of having to look at this disaster every day. I’m so disgusted and disappointed with this company.
