Review Time
I wanted to leave a review about a particular member of staff working at Exeter Central Station in the morning of Wednesday 19th June 2024.My train ticket was a little troublesome (due to having been mis-sold incorrect information at a different station) and the gentleman working at Exeter Central managed & rectified the situation perfectly. With infinite patience he explained to me where the error occurred, but not one did he blame me. He adroitly wrote a note for me to give to onboard conductors & ticket collectors, which I did and they accepted the information without question. Had the gentleman not helped me with this, I would probably have had to pay a considerable additional amount of money on an already expensive train journey, but he professionally managed and pre-empted the situation for me. (And it hadn't even been in my original question remit.)

I would give this 0 out of 5 stars if I could. I have been a student for 5 years commuting from Manchester to Norfolk. I have been on more trains than I can count and I can easily say that I cannot remember a single two way journey where services were not cancelled or delayed. When buying tickets that require connecting journeys (which I use every trip home from university) there is always at LEAST one connection with less than 10 minute time gap. Which means when services are INEVITABLY delayed I miss my train and have to wait an hour for the next one. Absolutely abysmal. 10/10 have never and will never recommended using trains to get around the country.
Used the service between Folkestone central and Dover priory and returned on a Saturday.Went with my disabled mother and could not fault the service she/we received. When arriving we were assisted to the platform, once the train arrived they promptly place the ramp and assisted my mother aboard. Aboard the train the only fault I have is the disability access is where the toilet is so the smell unfortunately was unavoidable. Again when getting off the train and our return journey we received the same treatment. Was the most successful trip we have had since mum started using a mobility scooter. Will 100% be using train over bus from now on

Two train journey to London….First train late, which meant we had 30 seconds to make our connection….then no choice but to jump in the first carriage available before the doors closed, and the staff then wouldn’t let us make our way to our correct reserved carriage. Why?Then forced to stand for 20 minutes in a cramped toilet area. Then forced to get off and carry luggage again at the next stop and jump back on in the right carriage for our reserved seats. Train utterly packed, with people complaining and asking why the operator can’t add an extra carriage in regular busy journeys. Wifi not working at all on the 3-hour journey. Carriage unbearably hot. Cash only at the buffet (who carries enough cash routinely these days for something to eat or drink)? Utterly useless. Complete shambles. Will drive next time.
