Appalling customer service Bought this vehicle from a Group 1 Auto dealer in July. Before we had taken the vehicle off the forecourt we spotted a damaged door trim /seal. The sales ‘executive’ apologised profusely and said the vehicle would be booked in to have the seal replaced. However, this is when the fun began - in the subsequent customer satisfaction survey we gave the dealer four stars, not five - the dealer then messaged us to state they would not have the damage repaired (not sure yet if this is a legal contravention!). Within five weeks of having the vehicle the air-con has run out of gas, and when we had this independently verified we were also notified the two rear tyres were showing signs of perishing. You’d like to think buying from an authorised dealer gave you some guarantees, but apparently not !How standards have fallen at Skoda!
Purchased a brand new Skoda Karoq in 2021, it's done 13,000 miles and it's warranty has just expired. The clutch broke making the car undriveable. I was unable to book my car in a Skoda garage for more than 6 weeks, so took it to an independent specialist. They replaced the clutch master cylinder which was faulty and leaking, the clutch slave cylinder which had an improper seal on it, the clutch plate which waa severely damaged with heat spots caused by a faulty diaphragm. In total the repairs cost just under £2k.Skoda customer service manager (Morgan Boudjeldikca) was dreadful. They said they have no legal obligation cover faulty parts outside of the warranty, even though the car had only done 13k miles. They clearly don't value customers who have spent tens of thousands of pounds on their faulty cars.Shame on them.
Out of the blue, on the 08 September, and again on 17 September 2025, I received unexpected calls from Johnsons Skoda Birmingham, the first whilst on holiday abroad. All this did was to remind me of the very worst experience that I have ever had in 60 years of car ownwnership. Let me please explain why: In May 2022, I bought a brand new Skoda Fabia from the Tyburn Road dealership. There was a heavy shower, as the car was driven out of the showroom for us, and as such it was impossible to see or inspect the car properly, until I cleaned the car a day or so later. I discovered the car had O/S rear sill damage, which I could clearly see by "blowing up" the 1st photo taken in the showroom. As Johnsons Skoda Birmingham would not agree to giving me my money back, and were only prepared to carry out what turned out to be a pathetic "bucketshop" repair, that didn't even cover the damage (see additional photos). Additionally, we could see the foam inside the front seat backs starting to show (also see photos).I then began my 7 month "battle" by contacting Skoda Customer Services, which was a complete waste of time, and led to one of most stressful & time wasting times of my life, but I certainly was not going to give up. It was now November 2022, and as a last ditch attempt, I made contact with Mike Berwick, Operations Director, based at Johnsons Head Office in Redditch, who at last, was apparently interested in what had happened to me, and the totally shabby way I had been treated by Skoda Birmingham. He immediately involved Ashley Gibson and the team at Johnsons VW Birmingham, who were brilliant. It had taken until 06 December 2022, but my car was efficiently collected and I was reimbursed every penny of my purchase price & even my service agreement fee (totalling almost £20,000), before it was even taken away. What an unbelievable relief that was, but that is exactly the reason why I did not answer my phone each time, as I have no faith what so ever, in the dealership, nor do I ever want to hear from Skoda Birmingham, again!! The moral of this story is: "If you have been treated unfairly, and you know that you are totally blameless, and in the right, and Johnsons Skoda Birmingham dealership senior management and staff were totally at fault. Don't give up, until you find someone in the higher organisation, like Mike and Ashley, with a similar mindset as yourself, who can also clearly see the total injustice, that has taken place."All I hope is that this review may assist anyone else, who finds themselves in a similar position to myself?
Skoda kodiaq Hybrid 9 months old decided it didn't want to drive anymore. Pulling into the culdisack "Hybrid System failure" recovery was arranged and a courtesy car dropped off. The apologies to the neighbours for not being able to pass the stricken vehicle blocking the entrance. Skoda Letchworth had the car for exactly 1 week the fix " they ran a software update" the car was collected and approximately 20miles later on a very busy carriageway live lane it decided the updated wasn't the fix and the car flashed the same message " Hybrid system failer" now once the car has displayed this warning of the Hybrid system failure there is no drive not from the Hybrid system nor the combustion engine. Nothing this thing is stationary. Fast forward 5 weeks our brand new car is sitting in the back of letchworth skoda car park where it has sat waiting for them to recieve a special tool... no updates ( unless we've chased for one ) car hasn't moved ( tracked ) 5 weeks for a special tool they now claim to have received, and alk we have to wait for now is the special technician that know how to work on this Hybrid car with a new shiny special tool. Such a shame these electric cars have been pushed through because they are unreliable expensive to repair and evidently they havnt got the tools or the know how to keep these expensive portable battery packs on the road.
After huge problems with Allams, Epsom, I went to UK central Skoda for help. The team are all based in Cape Town! I asked for help with (a) the problems with the garage and that they couldn't solve the fault and (b) for them to recommend somewhere else and/or obtain central advice on the fault. Their answer - you have to stick with Allams and we can't recommend anywhere else you just need to go on the internet and choose.
I work full time and despite having autism I cope well but struggle with companies who rely on virtual assistants and impersonal customer service like Skoda UK. Long stoery short, I purchased a Skoda Fabia 19 plate at listers and after16000 miles in a year the clutch went which cost £1650 and was not covered on warranty. Whilst I accept it is possible wear and tear and I might be partially the cause they could not prove and would not even cover £1 towards the cost. As a result I will never buy a Skoda again because of the shabby and feckless attitude and lack of urgency I experiencefrom them. The communication also between Skoda, Enterprise cars and listers sucks.
If you are considering a Skoda for your next family car please DON’T!!!Our Kodiaq is less than 6 months old, it has failed and cut out mid-drive multiple times. We have 2 small children travelling in the car daily and it’s a miracle we haven’t had a horrible accident when these incidents have taken place. The entire gear box has been replaced twice!! They are supposed to respond to a complaint within 8 weeks, but if they decide the complaint should be handled by a different team they restart those 8 weeks?? I would like this assigned to a customer service senior manager immediately. I’m not sure what it will take to get some help - if we have a horrendous accident due to the car failing entirely for a 4th time will Skoda then do something about it?? Supplying Dealership: RRG Group SkodaRepair Dealership: Parks Hamilton SkodaSkoda Complaint Reference: 05968259Skoda Financial Services Complaint Reference: FLE-855304Vehicle supplied as personal contract hire from Skoda Financial Services. vehicle has lost drive 3x now with gearbox and electric motor replaced twice. Vehicle has only covered c.3500 miles and with the latest failure yesterday it would point to the same repair required a third time.
We dealt with Tim Hector from Yeomans Bridgwater when we bought an EV Škoda Elroq. Tim was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and at no time did we feel pressured or rushed into making a decision. We found a few minor issues with the car and they were all addressed without any fuss. We are popping back for tuition on some of the technical gadgets too!
I bought a second hand vehicle from a non Skoda dealership. After a few days, had an amber warning on my binnacle. Booked it in to 'Johnsons Skoda Birmingham'. I had a call to say the vehicle was fixed and ready to be picked up. I paid the £168 and within a few days, the warning re appeared. When i phoned them up, they said if I bring it in and a different fault code is read, then I would get charged again. I explained that I had exactly the same issue as I had before but still this subtle threat that I had to potentially pay AGAIN for the issue that they did not fix in the first place.I complained to Skoda customer services and they did not want to know. They kept saying I had to take the vehicle back in for diagnosis but I explained why should I have to pay for something they did not fix in the first place. After a quite useless ping pong of e mails with the 'Customer Relations Manager', I decided to call her and express my frustrations on the situation. She has not got back in touch with me since. Pathetic.I also got in touch with the 'Skoda Digital Support' team as I could not log in to be the primary user for my Skoda app. They said I needed to take my car into the workshop for an update which would incur another charge. I work for a UK automotive manufacturer and their software updates are done automatically - but not Skoda. Money, Money, Money! Not a care for the customer.Overall really appalling customer service - the worst I have encountered. I sincerely hope people read these reviews before making the decision to spend tens of thousands on a SkodaIf i can prevent just one person spending their hard earned on one of their vehicles, then this review will be worth it.Avoid like the plague!
My car display shows issue with emission control system so needs diagnostics and repair by skoda. Local skoda dealer can’t look at it till October (3 months) fully booked. Helpfully advised if it breaks down get car recovered to them! If you buy a skoda please bear in mind the after sales care is unacceptably poor.
