Review Time
I have recently travelled with Transpennine Express twice within a week and the trains have been on time or a couple of minutes late. As passengers, we were kept informed by the conductors of anything affecting the journey and on the first one, though I wasn't affected, Liverpool to London trains cancelled so passengers were put on our train to Leeds and the conductor kept them informed as much as possible as to what was happening and what time the London train was leaving so they knew they had time to make the change.
Everyone was helpful in finding our platform and train. Seats were comfortable. I wish there was more suitcase spaces! Our train was delayed 10 minutes which made us miss our bus connection. This was resolved with a taxi ride. We had such a great holiday, we didn’t dwell on this.
First class food services are ridiculous. Our recent trip saw no hot drinks (morning train) on either leg of the journey. The food in the morning was bearable but the return leg was ridiculous. It was an empty carriage bar my family of 4 and 2 other adults. There was so little food except for cheeseboards (great for daily intolerant folks!) which is crazy when we prebooked the seats so TPE were aware that we would be on board! Would not recommend and will do everything within my remit to never book again! It was in no way worth the hefty price tag..
Got to be one of the worst train lines. Whether I’m going from Newcastle to Manchester, Newcastle to Edinburgh - there’s always an issue. Mostly cancelled journeys but also often severe delays. Save yourself the £10 and purchase a slightly more expensive ticket
Original train cancelled. Newcastle to Leeds. Dangerously packed with no room to even stand comfortably . How this is allowed is beyond me. It's dangerous and with the prices we pay we should at least have a seat. Back to using my car. Utter crap our trains are.
Shit,1 member of a staff woman wouldn’t let me pay on the train when I couldn’t pay at station as there was a queue and too full and my train was about to leave. Was very rude said I’m not allowed to pay on train and fined me. Trains are shit. Always smell. Overcrowded with not enough seats and staff are just so morbid and unpleasant
When my phone broke with my season ticket installed on it I found nothing in place to move my ticket. There is a button you can press on an alternative phone (if you have one) that didn't work, kept saying "oops you have installed it on another phone". I went to the ticket office at Manchester Victoria and was told by a rude worker they couldnt help me as online and paper versions are totally separate. She told me to phone to get a refund. Hunting around the tpexpress website to find a phone number or raise this issue became impossible... I was told that showing an email to say I've paid for the journey would not have been good enough. All in all - a very frustrating experience making me want to buy paper tickets in the future. Please have something in place for when people loose or break their phones with the e tickets on them, and make it easy for them to resolve the issue
Have used this company many times. I have advanced tickets that cost £56. Unfortunately due to illness I could not travel.Tried to get a refund but was REFUSED!!! I’m absolutely disgusted. They have a lot more money than me and it didn’t cost them anything when I couldn’t travel so that is just really BAD customer service!!! Will never travel with you again!! And out of common courtesy they could have offered to replace my tickets for another journey!!!
