This company is an absolute disgrace. If you are thinking of renting here, DON’T. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the humiliation. We had a confirmed drop-off at 10:30 AM at the Bergamo agency. We arrived early at 10:25 AM—only to find the office locked and empty. After calling the WhatsApp number, a representative named Letizia showed up 25 minutes late (at 10:50 AM), even though we told her again and again that we had a flight at 11:00 AM.Instead of apologizing, she tried to force us to leave immediately without checking the car. When we insisted (rightfully) on a proper inspection and clearance document, her attitude completely changed. She became rude, dismissive, and refused to help us. Honestly, we have to ask: is it even legal to force customers to leave a rental car without checking it and giving them proof of return? We were then left outside in the rain, with a small baby, while I am pregnant. Letizia ignored us, served other clients, and coldly snapped:“You wanted the car checked first, so now you have to wait.”By 11:30 AM, desperate to catch our flight, we asked again about the airport transfer (which is normally included in the rental). Her response?“You have to go on your own.”That was the final insult. We were forced to pay for an Uber, and because of this outrageous treatment, we missed our flight. This wasn’t just bad service — it was unprofessional, disrespectful, and inhumane. We were treated with zero care, zero responsibility, and zero respect as customers.- This company ruined our trip.- Do not trust them with your travel plans.- They will leave you stranded.Choose literally any other rental agency at Bergamo Airport — you’ll thank yourself later.
I recently had the misfortune to rent a car from Wheego in Frankfurt. I took images of the car when I collected it. No damage occured to the car during my rental period. On returning the car the Wheego attendant alleged damage had occured. I disputed this with my photos as proof. The Wheego attendant said no need to worry as the car went through a 360 degree scanner on exit and return. I have received a claim from Wheego for 1769.34 Euro for the non existent damage. All the documents are in German despite the fact my drivers license shows a UK address and I have repeatedly requested that their baseless allegations are at lesst understandable. Despite numerous emails to Wheego they refuse to engage with my dispute. I did buy excess cover from Carrentals ( Third party hiring platform). I am now told by Carrentals the the damage is actually 900 Euro plus a 175Euro "processing fee." I find it extremely suspicious, in fact not believeable, that 900 Euro is exactly the same amount deducted from my credit card as a deposit when I collected the vehicle. I have been hiring cars for the past 30 years and Wheego are without doubt the worst and most deceitful and disingenuous car hire firm I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I challenge the CEO of Wheego to contact me via this platform, or indeed any of the numerous emails sent to his disreputable organistion.I have now emailed Wheego 5 times. The only replies I receive appear to be additional invoices for what may be 'administration fees' but I can't be sure as they are in German. I have made it abundantly clear to Wheego that I don't speak German. No attempt by Wheego to respond to my specific claims in any way. Please avoid Wheego at all costs. Thanks for reading
If there are less than 1 star, I'll give it a wide berth. Stay away from this car rental, read again and again, and remember those words: just a couple of pounds extra, and you're happy to stay away. Very, very bad experinace with them never again.
Unreasonable Rules & Poor ServiceI strongly advise against using Wheego. When I arrived to collect my booking at Gdansk Airport, my credit card was refused simply because it showed my initials and surname (as it has for over 20 years). This has never been an issue with any other company, and yet Wheego insisted on this unreasonable rule without any valid explanation.Even worse, they had already accepted my card during the booking process and charged me £57.76. When I couldn’t collect the car, they offered no refund and even asked for additional payment — which felt like an attempt to take extra money on top of what I had already paid. This experience wasted my time, ruined my plans, and left me feeling cheated. A company that treats customers like this cannot be trusted. Avoid Wheego at all costs.
I hired a car online for pick up at Frankfurt airport terminal 1. Had to do an online registration including pictures of my passport and driving licence only to be asked to show them again. Pointless exercise. Couldn't find the car and was then told it was at terminal 2. Got a different car at my location. The car was dirty and damaged. The damage was noted on the rental contract. I took pictures and videos anyway. Couldn't return the car at terminal 1 where I picked it up but had to go to terminal 2. Nobody was present so I was forced to leave the car unchecked and drop the key in a box. Realised a few days later that my €900 deposit hadn't been returned but I had zero communication from them. After chasing them up they claimed the car had fresh damage. It didn't and the "fresh" damage was exactly as described in my rental contract. Made them aware and, again, no communication for a week. After threatening legal action I eventually had my deposit returned. Note, they don't just reserve €900 on your credit card, they take the money at the point of hire.
I rent cars frequently around Europe and this was by far one of the worst experiences. The price advertised by Rentalcars/Wheego looked fair, but once at the counter I was hit with unexpected “mandatory” extras. Despite already purchasing Full Protection Insurance (Zurich) through Rentalcars, Wheego forced me to pay an additional “Premiumschutz” insurance (~30 €) – pure double charging. On top of that, they added hidden broker and cross-border fees, which were never made clear when booking. In the end, the rental cost me more than double the original price shown online. Staff gave me no choice: either pay or walk away without a car. This kind of practice is misleading, unprofessional, and feels like a scam. I strongly recommend avoiding Wheego (and being very cautious with Rentalcars) if you don’t want to be overcharged and disappointed.
This company is a complete disgrace. They have charged me for damage on a rental car that was there at the time of pick up. I have date stamped pictures to prove this yet they charged my credit card and then sent a ficticious damage report saying the cost of the repair was 4000 euros!! AVOID AVOID AVOID no matter how cheap they are. I have been using car hire companies for over 20 years and never had an issue.
