They are scammers. Normally each company takes a deposit from your credit card, in this case it was 990 euros. When i arrived they explained that for some paper reason they will splitt it in two 199 and 791. After i returned the car they unblocked only 791 , after contact they say they will keep the other 199 for 6 months until they find out for sure if i don't have police tickets. Never heard of this before, blocking 200 euros for this reason for 6 months, we don't know if this company will be around another six months. Its same comany as Dryvve
AVOID THIS COMPANY WHEEGO AT ALL COSTSManchester Airport at Clayton Hotel inside. DO NOT book your car through EasyTerra or Wheego.I rented a car for for 3weeks from 9th February 2026 at Manchester Airport, and the experience was extremely stressful and unacceptable. The website does NOT clearly explain that the credit card must show your full name exactly as it appears on your driving licence. In the UK, most credit cards only show initials and surname due to data protection. This is completely normal.I first used a company credit card — refused.I then provided my personal credit cards (Monzo, Amex, HSBC) — all in my name — refused again.Their excuse? The name was not printed exactly how they wanted it. This is their own internal policy, and it was NOT made clear at the time of booking. After putting me under pressure at the desk, their “solution” was to charge me an extra £400 on top of my rental that i purchase full cover insurance on the website. They tried to justify it by saying it would still be cheaper than booking direct. They also “upgraded” me from a Fiat 500 to a Corsa — which I did not ask for and did not need. This felt like a tactic to force additional charges once I had no other option at the airport. The whole situation caused unnecessary stress and completely ruined my trust in this company. Policies like this should be made crystal clear before payment is taken — not when you are standing at the counter.Save yourself the hassle and book directly with a reputable hire company. defo NOT Wheegoif i can upload image on here of the picture they impose i would. to show you how they scam people over there card name. Learn from my experience — do not make the same mistake.
Alert!!!!Scam!!!!!Scam!!!Stay away!!!!I wish I’ve reed reviews before I booked Long story shortThey create damage themselves and make money that way…They don’t accept Expedia prepaid insurance coverage from customers trying to make you buy their own if you deny they hit you with the huge deposit which they trying to keep by creating fake damage reports and charges Luckily I documented before and after and was able to expose their fraudulent actions My credit card and Expedia was notified about the procedure It should be reported to authorities as well…Hope they go out of business soon enough!!!
Summary: Avoid this company – misleading information, unprofessional conduct, and clear pressure tactics turned a simple car rental into a stressful and expensive experience.I rented a car through Booking.com at Katowice (Pyrzowice) Airport on Sunday 1st February. I’ve rented from this airport before without issues, but this time – with a different provider – it was a complete disaster.Firstly, the company has no desk or cars at the airport. This was not clearly shown when comparing options. After landing, I had to call for collection and was told someone would arrive in 5 minutes. I waited over 20. I was then taken to an off-site location where the paperwork was completed inside a car – there was no proper office at all. It felt extremely unprofessional. The biggest issue was that they refused to accept my credit card because it shows my initials (first and middle name) and full surname. This is how my bank issued it and I’ve used it many times for car rentals, including previously at this airport. However, the representative then said he would accept the card if I bought their insurance package (around £200 for five days). I have annual excess insurance and declined. I offered to pay the £1000 deposit as required, but this was refused. It was hard not to conclude that the “card issue” only existed because I declined their insurance. It felt like a clear attempt to pressure me into paying extra.I contacted Booking.com support on the spot and was told the card should be accepted. The agent offered to email the rental company, but I was informed their customer service was closed because it was Sunday. I asked for a manager – none was available. In the end, I was left stranded and had to rent from a reputable company at the airport for around £200.The whole experience felt misleading and predatory. The cheap headline price is not worth the stress or the risk of being pushed into unnecessary insurance. I strongly advise others to avoid this company.
First review on here ever, literally because of how bad they are.Literally drove the car 3 times, some how found a new scratch which I couldn’t explain and still wonder how it happened, took all my deposit because of it.When damage report came through it listed repairing the whole vehicle; in and out.Lucky I bought external excess insurance and have got my deposit back.Wheego gave me the choice of paying a deposit of €1150 or €260 for their insurance, while external cost me £24.88Avoid.
BE CAREFUL!!!!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!Wheego is known for scamming customers.Do not do business with this company. You will be scammed for 900 euros for damage you did not cause. They do not provide a report of damage that is already on the car. They also try to sell you an expensive insurance, if you don't do that, then a deposit of 900 euros on your credit card. Then you have to pay for two more refueling sessions and they say that when you return the car, you will get the difference back. SO NOT.When handing them in, they discover damage that you did not cause. In my case at the bottom of the front bumper. You have to lie on the ground if you want to discover it.They just know and you have lost your 900 euros.I have reported it to the police in Alicante and recommend that if it happens to you to do the same. These crooks must be stopped!!!!!!!!!!B.Vrieling
Once you rent a car with them they treat you like an ATM. Charging once 80, once 150 euro, for forwarding tickets (which were appealed and cancelled). They also change the agreement which you signed at beginning of rental with suggest signing new one afterwards where they enter different fees... the car which i received was the weakest possible in this class, very long pick up in Liverpool
€577 Added After Return ,No Response, No AccountabilityI am absolutely shocked that this could happen in 2026.My son rented a car in Manchester and paid the full agreed amount at the time of booking. We have the confirmation email, the breakdown of daily charges, and proof of payment. Everything was clear. The day after he returned the vehicle, he received a new invoice for an additional €577 labelled as a “Luxury Bundle.” This was never requested, never explained, and never knowingly agreed to.The signature shown on their paperwork does not resemble my son’s signature. We disputed the charge through Avant Money. The amount was temporarily credited back to us, but the chargeback was later reversed after the rental company rejected it. We are now left paying €577 for something that was never properly authorised. What makes this even worse is the complete lack of proper communication.Emails go unanswered. On Trustpilot, the company posts generic replies telling customers to “contact us directly,” but when you actually try to contact them, they do not respond. When I attempted to contact the Manchester branch directly, I was met with extremely rude and hostile behaviour. The attitude was dismissive and volatile. It was incredibly upsetting to deal with.We have all documentation, screenshots, receipts, and correspondence to support everything stated here. This has caused significant stress and financial loss. I genuinely cannot believe that a customer can be charged €577 after returning a car, for something they did not knowingly agree to, and then be ignored when trying to resolve it.Please be extremely careful. Check every document thoroughly, question every add-on, and monitor your bank account after returning the vehicle.Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company.
Do not use! We had an unexpected damage claim relating to a small scratch to the back bumper of our hired car which we believe to be a pre-existing scratch or scam. The member of staff has spotted a little white scratch (smaller than a pound coin) in the back bumper (left side) of the car and insisted that the mark was not in the car before. There is no clear evidence of this. He also insisted that mandatory liability cover as part of the online booking would cover any damage to the body work including the bumper. He then insisted that we made a payment of the repair and that we would be reimbursed by our insurance protection. However liability cover does not include damage to the hired car. We felt pressured by time as we had to take our flight back home to the UK and were travelling with two little children and ended up mistakenly paying Wheego a total amount of €553.50 for the damage repair. In addition the hired car had 7 other scratches registered on the Wheego company records but none of these had been repaired. Also, having these 7 marks registered does not mean that the car did not have other scratches. We have inspected the car before taking it but our pictures do not evidence otherwise due to light reflection.
