Review Time
I purchased a whirlpool washer/ dryer set thinking that it would last a long time and be reliable due to the name . My washer lasted a little over a year and went out . I had a service person come to fix and he thought the control board was out due to Whirlpool making cheaper less effective boards . I contacted whirlpool and spoke w 4 different people and was on the phone for an hour with the end result being a 20% off of a new product. Why would I buy a new product for it to go out within a year again ? I understand I didn't purchase extended warranty but a new costly washer should last longer than a year . Very disappointed and will not purchase a whirlpool again .
Had the washer about a year, practically brand new. All of a sudden, won't spin, coming on by itself in mid cycle, have to keep it unplugged. Luckily I came across Brian at Home Town Appliance who was very honest. States control board is a known issue, and my model qualifies for possible replacement per my model number, as so many of these things have failed they are now on back order. Called whirlpool which I'm told, no matter the name on your machine, it's still most likely a whirlpool product, which I will keep in mind for my next purchase, as it will NOT be a whirlpool brand of that you can be sure. First rep I could not understand a single word she was saying, and yes she sounded American, would not speak so as I could understand her. Got a case opened and someone was supposed to call me w/in 3 hours. I had to call back again today and ask, as noone had called. 2nd rep who could not have cared less, all she wanted was me off her line, states they are coming today. I work nights so I had to get up early and finally found all they did was send an email and advise they were coming. What if I had been at work today? Instead I'm up two hours early with no say so in the matter. Not one single person I have encountered has been nice throughout this whole experience. It's not my fault your product is a piece of junk, but my takeaway is I was just bothering all of them. You can rest assured I will never bother you again as I'll never buy your products again if I have to pay 5x the cost for a different manufacturer. UPDATE 6/2/25 Pushback after whirlpool tech has confirmed parts are on back order. No turn around time... nothing. Even though my model number has been confirmed as part of the recall. I have contacted Consumer Affairs and filed a complaint with BBB. We will see what happens. I guess we are supposed to go down to the river and wash our clothes after paying,$650 for their washer.
Whirlpool would not let me pick an appointment day for my washer. Had to wait 2 weeks. Then randomly sent me two messages delaying my appointment by another 2 weeks. Waste of time! This is horrible and I wish I would have looked at the reviews first. This is ridiculous. Plus no customer service!
Normally we go pretty cheap on a washer and dryer. This time we decide to go top of the line and landed on a very nice set from Whirlpool. Cost $2K for the set. My wife struggled on how to use them right out of the gate. No instructions came with either washer or dryer. No manual on how to operate them or what all of the endless settings do. I go online to find this information and I cannot find anything on the simple operation of the units. Still can’t believe this. I complain to them and I get a generic “go to our website” which is useless for this. On top of this, the dryer doesn’t dry the close. The moisture sensing is a crock. Jeans are always a little wet around the waste bands. Our old cheap set out performs the $2000 set. Crazy. Oh yeah and the wash and dry cycles take longer. Not happy at all about this purchase and Whirlpool’s lack of help or understanding.
If I could give a negative 5 star review I would because this company does NOT DESERVE EVEN ONE STAR. Horrible products, Horrible customer service, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! What kind of company keeps selling defective, recalled pieces of crap???? Oh Whirlpool does. Absolutely disgusting. My washer is a year old and ive never in 30 years had so many issues with a company and their products. Waste of money and they will never have my business again and word of mouth is what ruins business and im spreading the word
When you call in, say you have an extended warranty already so you get helped faster. Always ask for a supervisor ;) never settle for less. They fired their warehouse inspecters so they wouldn't have to pay them, and they just want all agents focused on sales. They will ignore reason for the issue to avoid sending technicians. They are the worst company, and they do not care about you or the employees. Guess who the enployees take it out on? You guys. They have supervisors in there on their phones doing nothing all day and being paid for it. So always ask for the supervisor. You all follow a trend instead of researching before you buy. You won't get a refund. 😂 but you can act now and seek revenge :)
If I were you, I would read my entire comment. I simply have no words for the odyssey I am currently going through with the Whirlpool Company. I am so sorry for having purchased my washing machine of that brand. I will start by saying that if I could, I would give minus five stars as a review since zero is very short. I had a Whirlpool washing machine that lasted me about a year because it broke and stopped drying the clothes one day and I had to go to the store because the warranty had expired. So I went and bought a new one, which I don't know why I bought it from the same brand because it came broken anyway. After almost a month of fighting behind the warranty for them to come see it, they finally came and told me that it had the entire computer part broken and that they would come in two days to install it. It's been almost three weeks and they tell me that the Whirlpool does not have the part in the warehouse that I have to wait and that they do not know when it will arrive. And now the washing machine almost does not want to squeeze the Clothes now. I'm at a loss for words with this company. I'm considering my legal options now. Don't buy this type of product anymore from this brand.
Wish I had read these reviews prior to buying their dehumidifier, which btw is manufactured by licensee XLS Products. *Customer service is kind of dismal. Mostly obtained through e-mail with 1 to 3 day response time. *Product replaced before any real effort to understand / resolve the reported defect. Both machines have the same problem though, and with no resolution yet. Unusual (?) that a mammoth publicly traded company would care so little about product quality or customer responsiveness.
Have a Whirlpool refrigerator not even two and 1/2 years old, started making noise. Technician replaced a fan unit with a new unit, still makes whirring noise. Had technician out several times to adjust, still makes noise. Also had purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator for a rental unit, not even 3 years old yet, the compressor went out, cost to repair as much as would cost to just purchase another refrigerator. Wherever the company is purchasing their components from is apparently not good. Will not be purchasing any more Whirlpool products.
