Angi is nothing but a fraudulent organization aimed at defrauding unsuspecting customers by offering contractors with no integrity to the populace. Midwest Services in Spencer, Indiana is a terrible contractor from Angi with zero professionalism, obtained money under false pretense for a job that was poorly executed.All efforts to get Angi resolve this issue proved abortive as Angi demonstrated non-chalant actions towards resolution of this issue. This single action makes Angi an accomplice to bad contractors paraded on its platform.
I was sold a "great deal" on the phone by a very persuasive salesman. When I looked in to the actual details after the phone call I realised the services they provide are nothing even close to what was described to me. I immediately attempted to cancel my 12month, $525 a month contract before my account had even been approved or created. Email customer service was beyond useless, and I finally got through to someone on the customer support line after having 2 agents hang up on me right after explaining I wanted to cancel. I was given verbal confirmation that my account was going to be cancelled, but they wouldn't send me anything in writing. Sure enough a few days later that $525 charge came in and I've been unable to get through to anyone for a refund or explanation.
The absolute worst company to work with. They refer to companies that are scams. They do not even own or work for the companies they represent. Asked for a plumber and received 19 referrals. The one I chose made an appointment, then 1/2 hour later called the location where the work needed to be done, not me. They said they could not fit us in. They also said their name was Service Minds Inc. and not Benjamin Pluming. Called Angie's List, got sent overseas, and they couldn't even speak English clearly when I asked to talk to someone stateside. A supervisor was told, "I could wait for a supervisor to call me back later." I am still waiting. Good thing I am not holding my breath
We signed up for Angie’s List and have been paying $380 per month, expecting quality leads and consistent engagement. Unfortunately, the results have been underwhelming.While we respond quickly to every inquiry, we only end up talking to about 20% of the leads that come through. The real cost per qualified lead works out to around $60, and we’re only able to close about 1 in 20.In comparison, other marketing platforms we use deliver higher-quality leads at a much better value. Angie’s List just hasn’t justified the monthly cost for us.If you’re considering this service, be aware that it’s a significant investment with limited return—there are better options out there for the same or less money.
I wanted a china cabinet refinished I got Hayden Bray located in Leland NC thru Angi. He came over looked at the cabinet quoted me $700. I said ok he said he couldn't start it til the end of May it was April 11 at the time. I said ok and he wanted to take it with him so he didn't have to come back. The end of July I called to see what was going on he sounded irritated that I was calling told me it was a lot of work and if I was unhappy he would bring it back and just charge me for the work he had done. I told him I just wanted it finished and when could I expect him to be done with it. He said "October ". I called again the third week in October and he said he would deliver it the next week. On Thursday Oct 30 he sent me a text saying it would be delivered Friday the 31st the next day and the bill was an extra $150. I didn't reply to his text because I wanted my cabinet back. His men delivered it and I paid him only $350 the balance from his original quote he didn't like that and tried to say the original quote was only an estimate which he didn't say originally and didn't put on the receipt he left me. He had the cabinet for over 5 months and never once mentioned the increase cost. I will never do business with this man again.
I booked a prepaid garage door repair. Angi said the repair person would come on 10/2 and that I could track his arrival. No one showed up. After contacting Angi through their incredibly convoluted chat/CS agent process, they said it would be rescheduled for 10/21. No one showed up. Then they cancelled the job. I asked them to refund my prepaid billing. They said I'd get it in 3-5 business days. When it didn't show up on my account, I re-contacted them again. The CS-agent said that a previous CS-agent had filled out the form but had failed to submit it. She said she was now doing it. It's over a month since I started this process and they've dropped the ball on every possible occasion. This company is either totally incompetent or fraudulent.
Purchased a tv from Costco and thought I was lucky to find they partnered with a TV mounting service (Angi). Living nightmare followed, it took 2 full weeks and three individuals, since the first untrained "professional" showed up to mount the TV, conceal the wired behind the wall and connect 3 devices. Two out of SEVEN scheduled visits were no show and no call. The first person came, couldn't finish and scheduled a second visit where he ghosted us with a no show, no call. The second person visited twice, fumbled around for two hours each time, and we canceled his attempt to come back a third time and called Angi to send a licensed trained person instead (the last one said he was self taught). The third person stayed 3 hours, couldn't finish although he made more progress than the last two. He came back a second time and finished the work. All three said Angi underpays their workers and a supervisor for Angi said licensing is not a requirement for their workers. No training required, no licensing, no certification, no nothing. Please learn from my experience and stay away from this pitiful excuse for a company.
