For all of the pet owners on here with bad experiences

For all of the people on here that get nowhere with Animal trusts complaints.Get a copy of you full notes from Animal trust. Complain in the animal trust email and not the online complaints portal as you will not have a copy which you will need as evidence in your sent box. Then contact the RCVS, google them and find the complaints about a Vet category. Send the lot mentioned above to the RCVS detailing the issues and no complaint replied to (you won't get one from Animal trust).Work with the case advisor you get at the RCVS and even if your case does not get taken to the final stages of a hearing, it will be on file and the Vets record forever if deserving. Animal trust have some great staff and some really bad ones that deserve whatever they get for being purposely negligent, cliquey, doing tests with no treatment for money etc and drawing out an illness for continued sales. If people did this more often and held them accountable, they just might think before they do what they do.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I lost my dog 2 years ago due to old age. 6 months before we lost her, we took her to the emergency vet in Bolton. It was a quiet Sunday evening, and it emerged it was just her anal glands needed squeezing. The lovely (Spanish i think) Vet had us in treated and out within 5 minutes and kindly refused to take payment for this as she couldn't justify the cost for a 3 minute visit. Our dog had a further 4 day stay there a few months later which was a couple of grand (paid for at the time). Since then I have had many, many letters and emails demanding payment for 81.00. Even an email re this 30 minutes after she had been put to sleep at the ashton branch (I was still sat in the car park sobbing!). I have since raised a dispute and apart from a standard email to acknowledge the dispute, have not received any update. Now I am receiving demands from a debt agency now demanding 121.00. I can honestly say I wouldn't ever take a pet to this farce of a vet. They do not communicate between departments, don't care about their customers and see animals as a bank balance. Shame because some of the vets are amazing, compassionate people. It doesn't even end up costing less as the price of thier medications is astronomical compared to other vets.

Caring vets and staff

Caring vets and staff made making a difficult end of life decision for our elderly dog such a respectful process Eventhough it was via an emergency appointment at a busy time , the receptionist, vet and vet nurse went outside ‘normal rules ‘ and allowed us time and gave our naturally stressy dog a peaceful passing Forever grateful- thank you Amber and the team at Ellesmere Port branch

Unhappy Experience All Round

I phoned Animal Trust in Dewsbury to ask if they would castrate our dog Billy. They assured me they would and made an appointment to see a vet first. Met by an ignorant vet who loudly talked over my wife and I and refused to answer our questions. She told us they would not do the operation. We called 3 other local vets who all said they would do it and we had him done 10 days later with no problems. We never returned to Animal Trust and never will.Around 9 months later in June 2024 Billy was put to sleep and we were devastated. So imagine our shock to receive an email from Animal Trust Shrewsbury on the 2nd of July this year to remind us that Billy had an appointment at 2.30pm with a warning that we would be charged if we missed the appointment. 1. We NEVER made an appointment with Animal Trust. 2. We have NEVER been to Shrewsbury in our lives. 3. Billy had been dead for over a year. 4. Completed the complaints form online (a huge mistake as they totally ignore you and their own complaints process). Animal Trust is registered at Companies House and shows the founder and CEO to be a vet called Owen Monie whose holding company has significant control. UPDATE: As I wrote this review I received a response to my short email (asking for the complaint to be escalated as I had not received a reply) from the area practice manager explaining what went wrong and sincerely apologising. This was the only good part of this experience.

Seem more about getting money than helping pets

Had a few dealings with them and they do seem more focused on selling you tests then listening to your concerns. If you want them to totally lose interest in you and treat you coldly just tell them you dont have money and they go very quiet and blunt. Also they say that if you get a litter of pups vaccinated and pay for a full course you can get the second jab at the new pup owners local branch but thats not always true and im still waiting on a refund for the second courses they never provided.Lastly I had one of my dogs for a surgey last year and while it was successful they have no record of it ever happening, you'd think that an operation would be worth a note in the medical records.2 stars as they've not been totally awful but i get bad vines from the place and i just don't trust them.

Animal(dont) Trust

My daughters dog was taken to the vet as she became lame in her back left leg. She was given a number of pain relieving drugs and a follow up appointment. Not 24 hours later she refused to eat and was being sick. When she went to the toilet she passed a large pool of blood. As it was the weekend my daughter contacted the emergency vet in Ellesmere Port. She was told its not an emergency, it was cased by the medication and to keep her comfortable. I went to look after her while my daughter went to work. I was shocked when I saw Bailey. She was not the same dog we all knew and loved. On the Monday morning 12 hours after I had seen Bailey my daughter rang me sobbing. Bailey had died during the night. Needless to say the whole family is devastated and unhappy with what occurred. She was 11 but had she been younger I feel very strongly the vet would have seen her.

Really helpful and friendly staff

Really helpful and friendly staff. Sarah on reception was particularly lovely and kind. We have seen a few different vets over the years of being here and always felt they really care and know what they are doing. Always happy to see the animals and take their personality into account. So grateful for this place.
