Review Time
Shame I can't give them zero stars! Hired a car through an agency prior to holiday in France. Picked up the car at Montpellier airport Europcar. Noted the damage and took extensive photos to ensure I was 'covered'. Returned the car 10 days later and, despite there being 3 persons in the Office (2 were just on their phones browsing the internet/on social media!), no-one wanted to inspect the car. I checked in at the airport and went through security. Just prior to boarding, when I had no chance to get back to the Office, I got a 'return invoice' detailing damage I had done to the car. I checked my photos and it was on both the before and after ones.....i.e. Pre-existing. Unfortunately, i was unable to dispute this at the time and rang Europcar customer service the next day to dispute this. I said I had photos, but they said they didn't need them at that time. However, 4 days later I get an e-mail saying that they were going to charge my credit card for the repair and they had attached the costs. There were no attachments! I immediately replied with the date/time stamped photos showing the pre-existing damage. 4 days later still no reply, other than the invoice for the repair! Europcar are obviously thinking "Here comes an old man, I wonder how much money we can get off of him?". Bunch of robbers! Never again!
Steer clear. There are enough car hire companies around to choose from. Hire car returned, and recieved a call, whilst on holiday, saying I owed money for a fine for a toll road. I knew it wasn't right, but I was bullied into paying it, as it was my ex partners card on the car and I did not need the hassle. When I got home, I contacted the toll company, to find that there was an error and the fine had been quashed. I contacted Europcar and was told they would look into the refund. Two weeks later, still no refund and no response to my formal complaint. They were quick enough to bully me into paying the fine, but not so quick to refund what they owe me. Awful customer service, with absolutely no idea how to help me get a resolution, other than to say someone will be in touch within 5 days! Will not be using these again and would not recommend
Awful experience. Booked through a third party website, the agent spent too long trying to get me to pay for an expensive upgrade which i refused but found out later that he had still charged me for an upgrade. The charges were confusing given I had booked and paid already and I made the mistake of trusting the integrity of Europcar staff. There were other extras added on that were never discussed. The agent then spent time trying to get me to give them a 10/10 review at the end of the rental. They get 0/10. The agent was nothing but a financially incentivized add on seller. First time meeting a snake oil salesman. Never again. The rental was actually expensive to start with and then was extortionate with the additional charges I was landed with.
We have reported that sat nav in the car is not working, while choosing car it was crucial for us to have sat nav as we don't know the area. Response received,, After reviewing your rental documentation, we can confirm that there was no separate charge applied for the use of a sat nav. As such, no refund is due in relation to this feature. While some vehicles are equipped with built-in navigation systems, this is not a guaranteed feature unless explicitly booked and confirmed as an additional product,, THEY DO STATE ON THE WEB SAT NAV INCLUDED. SOON THEY WILL START CHARGING EXTRAS FOR WHEELS BREAKS AND STEERING WHEEL!!! APPALLING!!!
False advertising from Europcar:I booked an EV for a holiday in Spain. Online booking process says "full recharge not required" – but the collection desk argued I must recharge it before returning it.They finally agreed when I showed them the website, and said they'd make a note on my booking. Obviously my choice was either sign the paperwork and trust them, or leave with no car for my holiday (plus they'd keep my deposit?).So I had to trust them, and when I got home they invoiced me for recharging the car and took the payment from my credit card.When I filed a dispute, they just replied saying that's the terms I agreed to when I signed. I keep asking about the false advertising, but they just ignore that question.Won't use them again as this broke my trust.
Car was fine when I collected but they gave me a smaller car than I paid for and tried charging me £300+ extra for a bigger vehicle I bit the bullet and took the smaller car this was okay then I returned the car the man inspected the vehicle everything was fine the man then said to me I would receive my deposit back with in 24 hours after 10 days and countless phone calls I am still waiting for my deposit this company is a joke I will be sticking to enterprise
Disgusting thieves. Had a slight mark left on the car, about 1cm long and didn't even scratch the paint, where a pedestrian obviously knocked it wih a bag or something. Got a £600 charge with no warning and refused to provide any explanation on how it cost this much.
After our motability car breaking down we were given a hire car from europcar.When it was dropped off it had all the usual checklists ticked on leaflets etc It consequently broke down when we were on our way out..NO OIL IN CAR!After waiting for recovery they told me the engine was cooking..and it needed oil asap..not to use...great 2nd car to breakdown! I then had to walk to the other side of town to BUY MY OWN OIL!!Which was ridiculous.The car was left at the new dealer fuelled up n clean..only for them to remove £69 out my bank without telling me what it was for..then they said oh we charged you wrong amount.. making me overdrwn. Countless phonecalls and a month later and I'm STILL waiting for compensation which I keep getting told 7 working days, 7 working days email only, another team are dealing with it WHATEVA!..totally fed up with the lot of them.Disgusting customer service..would not recommend to my worse enemyHaving put a formal complaint in when my partner was having a suspected stroke at the time..still waiting...Outrageous company AVOID!
