I would give a zero if I could. Here is how your trip with Hertz/Malaga will proceed: 1) You rent a car with Hertz, 2) Three months later, the corrupt local police send a completely fabricated traffic violation fine related to your use of the Hertz vehicle to you via a strange text message that looks 100 percent like spam, 3) You pay the fine (half price if you pay early - what a deal!, 4) Hertz then sends you an email message explaining that you have a fine and charging your credit card another 30+ euros service fee for their trouble, as per the rental contract. And step 5? What could it be? Could it involve Hertz paying a kickback to the local police for their participation in this amazing tourist scam? Maybe? Only these criminala posing as human beings know...

Hello. When we got our rental car in the airport Barcelona, the car was DIRTY. The reception did not want to talk to us, simply gave us the key without any explications. 3 days later when we returned the car in the same situation, he turned around the car at least 6 times, then he found a small mark on the glove, even though we can not see it in his photos!!! He said it was our fault for NOT taking a photo when we picked up the key!!!!One day later Hertz sent me a bill for 200 euros!!!More than 10 years we have rented Hertz in many countries. We had never got the problems, but this time, we are upset with Hertz. It's really a shame to Hertz!
I recently rented a vehicle from Hertz in Spain through my company, and was shocked to be charged over €200 upon return for a small scratch on an alloy wheel.According to Hertz’s own rental terms, alloy wheel scratches are only chargeable if they exceed 10mm. The photo provided contains no measurement or scale, making it impossible to verify the actual size. Despite this lack of evidence, they still issued a full damage charge. To make matters worse, the report falsely states that I “accepted responsibility” for the damage. That is absolutely not true. I was never given the chance to review or dispute the damage and never signed anything confirming liability. On top of that, I was accused of not refueling, even though I only drove 40 km and presented a fuel receipt proving I had filled the tank (3.29 liters). The employee insisted the tank wasn’t full, which made no sense and seemed like a clear attempt to apply further unjustified charges. It truly felt like the staff were actively looking for any excuse to charge extra. This is dishonest behavior and unacceptable from a company that claims to value transparency.I have already reported this experience to my company and am considering advising that we no longer use Hertz for business rentals. What should have been a simple rental became a frustrating and unfair experience.I do not recommend Hertz. Unfounded charges, misleading documentation, and poor customer service.
I rented a car to deliver on the same day and they charged me 1 extra day. I delivered the car when the company office was closed, and followed all the normal procedure. This was during the weekend. To my surprise I then receive an invoice on Monday saying that I incurred in extra charge because I delivered the car one day late. I've tried to dispute this to no success.
I was renting a vehicle in Valencia Airport from a “Lady” that was obviously racist. She plays the being nice towards you card really well but then she showed her real colors. As soon as I paid and we were at the final stage of signing the papers, she give me two papers to sign and then she voided the contract because there was a difference in my signature literally no difference and she just got really hysterical over it and begin saying no im voiding the contract which is honestly unbelievable.Never again would I ever try renting cars from Hertz and I’ll make sure anyone I know doesn’t horrible customer service!
I booked a car online with Hertz Seville for a total price of €109, including all fees, such as the cross-border charge which I selected during the reservation process.Upon arrival, I was given a similar vehicle, and a €310 deposit was held on my card — which I understood and accepted. However, the final invoice exceeded €170, and included: • A base rate increased to €119 instead of €109 • An unexplained local surcharge of €16 • €31 VAT applied to unexpected chargesWhen I contacted customer service, I was told that “prices may change upon return” — which goes completely against the agreement I signed online. To this day, I’m still waiting for a refund of the overcharges and a correction of the invoice. No proper justification has been given.I strongly advise against renting from Hertz Seville. The lack of transparency and post-rental surprise charges make it a frustrating and disappointing experience.
