Hertz - NEVER EVER again!

They charged me 235 EUR for rubber traces on the bumper - in spite of the fact that paint was not damaged and it could be cleaned by a bit of polishing paste.Specifically, the guy at Tenerife South Airport (claiming to be “supervisor Manuel“, but declining to identify himself or even provide his surname) was extremely aggressive, up to physical confrontation. Moreover, although I paid on site whatever they required for the damage, now (3 working days later) neither have I yet received the official Damage Report from Hertz nor was my deposit of 800 EUR unblocked. Also, the person answering the phone at the Tenerife office today, who promised to finally send me the missing Damage Report, rejected to give her name (simple hung up).Still waiting for the report.Looks like I will be compelled to seek legal assistance. Hertz - NEVER EVER again!

Hertz Thrifty, Cheated on me, Scammed me and took my 525£ deposit

• Hertz, Thrifty Car Company Cheated MeName: Parana SiriwardenaCountry: United KingdomBooking Reference: ES143232970Confirmation Number: 16SQV8Vehicle No: 6906 MVBModel: DACIA SanderoI rented a car through Holiday Autos from Thrifty at Tenerife Airport, Spain. They tried to force me to buy full insurance, but I refused. On the day I was leaving, I returned the car without any damage and handed the key to the Hertz Thrifty office at the airport. Then, a worker from Thrifty asked me to park the car in another row and return the key. While I was moving the car, a driver from CICAR, who was behind me, hit the back of my car. This happened near the Hertz Thrifty office. CICAR admitted fault and assured me that they would pay for the damage through their insurance to Hertz Thrifty.• Unfair Charges and FraudInstead of accepting the payment from CICAR’s insurance, Thrifty charged me £525 for a small dent. They took the money from my deposit without my permission or signature. This feels like a setup, and I regret agreeing to move the car. This is completely wrong, and I will take strong legal action against Thrifty for this fraud.• A Planned Scam to Take My DepositEverything was planned. They wanted to take my deposit. When I first handed over the car, they saw there was no damage. Then, they politely asked me to park the car in another row and return. Believe me, the same thing happened to my friends before. They warned me about this scam, but I didn’t believe them because I trusted Holiday Autos, thinking it was a recognized company. They set me up, and I fell for it. They knew I was not from Britain or Europe but from an Asian country, and they completely ignored me. When the SUV hit my car, nothing happened to that vehicle—just a small faded scratch. I never thought such disgusting frauds existed, but now I know.I won’t stop. I will fight with all my strength to get my money back, which they took without my signature and forged it through someone working at Hertz Thrifty.• Final StatementI would never, ever recommend Hertz Thrifty to anyone. I will do my very best to stop this fraud and make sure others don’t fall for this scam.

Very poor Hertz/Firefly …

If I could I would give Hertz/Firefly negative star we book a car for a month though Carjet in uk. At time of booking I took out full insurance package to save any hassle. On arrival at airport we went to hire desk I present my paperwork along with proof of full insurance cover the didn’t even look at this then told me I need further supper cover and we very aggressive in their manor and tone insisting that if I didn’t take the cover I could not get the car. I signed paperwork but said again that I didn’t want or need the cover they were trying to sell. They said that fine I would not be charged. Picked up the car it was dirty inside noted on paperwork. Next day I checked levels on car oil was low. Washer bottle almost empty and all tyres pressure had different pressures. It would seem that they do not quality check there vehicles between hires. On the return of the car it was clean and all levels and tyres set to correct levels. Plus full of fuel it was 1/4 when I picked car up. I asked if there was any further charge and was told not thats it all completed. Returned home and checked my credit card two days later to find I had been charged for supper cover insurance. Be wear of Hertz or Firefly car hire they are aggressive. And tell you one thing and do another. I would question safety of the vehicles they are giving you based on my experience. They use aggressive and fraudulent tactics to take extra charges of customers. DO NOT USE

Total Scam Arists

Hertz (Tenerife South Airport) was awful. They look for reasons to charge you at the end of the rental. Unfortunately I didn't know about this scam until too late. Look at other reviews. Many have had the same experience. They come up with some alleged damage at the end. They are actively scamming their customers claiming damage for a car that was returned in exactly the same condition as when it was driven off the lot. If you do rent from Hertz at the Tenerife South airport, definitely take a video and pictures of every inch of the car. This has happened to us twice now in Spain. The other time was a low cost company and we took precautions, but because this was Hertz and we considered them reputable, we didn't make a video of the car. Lesson learned. Booking should seriously reconsider doing business with them. They are complete and utter scam artists.

Hertz/Thrifty Fuerteventura Scammers

Like many other reviewers, I experienced the scam that Hertz / Thrify seem to pull on many customers. We booked a VW Golf or similar, we were offered a smaller (or similar) car so was forced to pay for an upgrade. The agent then was very disappointed that we did not take additional insurance, as we already had our own. The car provided already had considerable body work damage, There were some poor quality black and white photographs that accompanied our hire documents showing existing damage. During our rental no damage occurred. We jet washed the car before returning thinking this would make life easier to show we had not damaged the car in any way.On our return, the man at the counter quickly found a fine hairline scratch that he said was new - both conveniently located in an area that previous photos did not cover.I had taken a number of my own photos on pick up but this was such a negligible mark it would not have even registered as damage. The scratch was almost certainly there before, despite it being hardly visible to the eye as we had no incidents whilst driving. Although we did not feel responsible I offered to take the car to the local fuel station to buy some polish as I knew it would have easily come out in a few minutes. The return agent refused my request to do this, he then found some two more areas of damage, he accused us of causing, I had taken my own photos of this pre existing damage on pick up so he dropped those false accusations. I asked for a manager to attend which the agent point blank refused. On our flight back just in our immediate seating area three other couples spoke of similar things happening to them.I have hired countless rentals all over the world and I have never encountered such blatant scamming of tourists as with Hertz/Thrifty. I have never had issues with other big names used, Avis, Sixt, Dollar, you just dont expect this with so called reputable brands. In fact I would say that Avis and Sixt have probably been the best in terms of customer service and quality of cars provided. I have now had an additional €220 taken from my credit card, there has been no paperwork, no email, whatsoever in respect of this charge which I assume is for this bogus damage.A £5 tin of polish and 5 minutes buffing would have dealt with this.100% Avoid Hertz/Thrifty they are a total rip off at Fuerteventura Airport.

beware of dishonest staff at Valencia…

beware of dishonest staff at Valencia airport. Always up selling and not explaining properly the extra charges. I guess its company policy to pay them commission for padding the bill.

It’s a total scam , stay away from these thieves

It’s a total scam Stay away from them. Don’t rent car from hertz in Mallorca airport. We bought insurance and didn’t make any damage the car but at the end they sent us the invoice and deducted the amount 3 times more than we should pay. It was free mileage but they also charged us per km! Shame on you!!

It hertz to do a reservation here

It literally hertz to have a reservation here. They force you a lot to get an expensive insurance although you already payed using intermediaries like rentacar. Also, they didn't allow to use the contactless with the credit card. We went after the Europcar and everything was super easy and seem less, without any complications. Really don't recommend
