Very disappointing paying a very expensive ticket and be able to do only 1 min in total of posture, close to the floor, grabbed by the amazing instructor David. I have been asked to pay £20 more in order to go higher for 5 sec. Ridiculous. I won’t coming back. Wasted time and money. No worthy at all.
My daughter bought me a voucher for my birthday and I was quite excited about going.I booked my flight on line, watched the training video and completed the on-line waiver (which you don’t receive a copy of by the way).My daughter had paid for three flights but I only completed one. The reason for this was because upon exiting the wind tunnel I fell. I’m not quite sure how this occurred but I struck my arm against a metal door frame opposite the exit and broke the humerus of my left arm. The door frame had obviously been identified as a hazard because it had been covered in black & yellow tape but no foam padding. After the accident, I had to sit in agony whilst an accident report was completed. At no point was I offered an ambulance but my son-in-law was with me and drove me to the local hospital. Some time after the accident I was advised to put in a personal injury claim against iFly. This failed because iFly issued a denial of liability hiding behind the waiver which seems to protect them against all and any claims. I did sign a waiver as they won't let you do the activity without it and to be fair, if I had injured myself during the actual flight (dislocated shoulder for example) I would not have made a claim but, I still had the right to be kept safe whilst on their premises and wouldn’t have reasonably expected to be injured getting out of the wind tunnel.I would also point out that; although I watched the videos on line, I went for the flight a few weeks after and they didn’t give any refresher training on the day and at no time were we warned that there was a trip hazard upon exiting the wind tunnel.Over a year on I still have pain in that arm and have not regained the full range of movement.I had expected to fly but not into a door frame!
My daughter had 4 minutes of flight time booked, and my son 2. Instructor suggested she takes the 4 minutes as 2 of 2min. My daughter didn't get on well, so she was in the wind tunnel for 30 sec first time, then 40 sec the second. The instructor did not offer her to try again (and again), so she can at least have 4 goes (4 attempts at 1min), and she didn't offer my son extra time (he absolutely loved it and did very well in there). I felt we were robbed tbh, considering they're selling one minute flight at £14 as a discounted rate. I contacted the centre after, to be told they can only go with CCTV and the instructor's word, and they said that they offered my son extra time which is an outright lie. They've said they cannot offer refunds as the vouchers were "booked and flown". I have had a few emails back and forth with a receptionist. The manager, despite initially emailing me to query my low score on feedback form, has not engaged in the conversation at all. My son also wanted to do the hifly add-on, and got overlooked. Despite the fact that I knocked on the glass and brought it to the instructor's attention, and she understood me, she proceeded to do the instructor demo flight. On both counts I have basically been called a liar (the instructor's account was different to mine), although they referred to it as a "misunderstanding".It is a shame, as the experience itself looks awesome. But given our experience I would not recommend i-fly Basingstoke! I drove for 2 hrs to get there for the experience, what saved the day was the Aquadrome next door!
Terrible experience my daughter was so excited to do this flight but was scared by the instructor putting a signal so close to her face she left the tunnel in tears as she missed her high flight. The company will not help as we would love to come back but theh want to charge us more that we paid for the first flight! All in all we spent over £100 that day including fuel and she flew for 1 minute! Update....we contacted customer service and they suggested a deal to come back which worked put to be even more than we had paid. Thanks ifly for suggesting we contact CS! You type your replies on your negative reviews as if you care and you don't, you are just a money making machine who doesn't actually care about the customer
The most expensive 2 minutes I've ever paid for. Bought a flight experience for my 9 year old son. In total he was in the wind tunnel for 2 minutes. At the end the instructor asked who wanted to do some additional extra with him for £14 to fly up and down etc. This we were expecting and looking forward to and what is shown on all the marketing videos. However my 9 year old son is in the chamber and the parents outside and he didn't know what to say. Why didn't they ask the parents who would be paying not the 9 year old in a wind tunnel. I complained and fed this back to reception who couldn't care less. We left utterly dumbfounded and in total disbelief that this 2 minutes was the total experience. If you could call it that. If your not keen on kids and want to see them thoroughly disappointed, this is the place for you.
Utterly ripped off. Four people at £285, plus we were upsold to go a little higher for extra £10 each (within allocated time). Total time was less than 2 mins each, so £40 per MINUTE. I know this cost included a few grainy photos and a few secs of video, but this is all digital, no quality hard copies. Our Instructor, however, did an AMAZING job. She was great and this review is no reflection on her doing her job well.
Our experience today with Jordan as our instructor was brilliant. I didn’t realise it was so difficult and Jordan made me feel very uncomfortable in the air stream. An early start as our flight was at 8 but well worth it. The instructions given by Jordan were clear and helpful. Thank you for a super experience.
Leaves a lot to be desired! We had an instructor called Zac who had an enormous ego and no interest in making sure the guests enjoyed their very expensive experience. Ive been before and enjoyed it but never again. Both myself and my kids had loads of time unassisted last time but Zac basically never let anyone go and got in the way for the whole session. He didn’t even step away for long enough to get a picture of the kids flying solo. The other instructors take you right up to the top of the tunnel if you opt for the hi fly but Zac takes you just twice and only half way up the tunnel for the princely sum of an extra £10. What they don’t point out is that the hi fly is carried out within the time you have already paid for, you’re literally looking at 50p per second extra on top of the money you have already paid. Zacs ego is so inflated that he decided to do a short demo of his skills in the tunnel then ushered everyone to give him a round of applause as he exited the tunnel. I lodged a complaint at reception that the instructor had basically ruined our session. Sadly I only got to speak to an assistant who was clearly a bit thick and just repeated the same rehearsed lines like a broken record. Don’t waste your money its really pretty lame!
