Lorex is an atrocious company, their wireless cameras are sub par. One camera broke (was heating up and hot to touch) two weeks outside of the warranty. The customer service experience was tedious, I had to repeat details multiple times. I was told that since my warranty had just expired I could upgrade and get a new camera. I let them know that this was unacceptable for a year old system that I had sent a significant amount of money on, to which they replied they would look into a one time exception and I would hear back in 24 hours. Fast forward seven days, still no response so I called them back. I had to go through the entire scenario again with the rep (even though I provided a case number) and after 10 minutes, I was told they would not stand behind their product and there was nothing they would do for me. I will now be removing this system and will purchase from a far more reputable provider.
Once your monitoring system is discontinued out of their system you will no longer be able to reset your administrator password so basically you are completely locked out. They’re basically trying to force you to purchase a new system even though there’s nothing wrong with your old system. We called customer service twice and the customer service agents are no help. They don’t know anymore than we do about resetting passwords & administration passwords. The only help they give you is that they will send you steps by email that aren’t helpful. Followed all the steps to activate the warranty, filled out the reset password form only to keep getting an error message to log out and log back in each time. Still no help. Don’t buy it unless after five years you want to purchase a whole new system just for simple technical issues.
I've had these cameras for some time and had problems with them in different houses with different internet. Therefore problem doesn't lie with internet. They work ok then suddenly you notice that they don't send notifications to your phone, therefore unreliable and you don't know if someone is breaking in. Lorex know of this push notification problem however the problem persists. The system is also convoluted if something goes wrong with it. Please beware if you buy these cameras you will spend hours over the years trying to get an unreliable bug ridden system to work. Don't waste your money, there must be something better on the market.
Cameras work great at first but they go obsolete 4-5 years which makes them obsolete as the software/firmware shuts down the cameras (is no longer supported) or the camera fails. The cameras also go obsolete so you cannot purchase new ones to add to your system because they are unavailable. This is a serious disappointment. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent.
I've been using Lorex systems for over 8 years, always bought them at Costco and they work great for the price. Although hardware is basic, it's easy to extend with standard electronics. The software is very intuitive and easily accessible on Android and iOS.
Terrible customer service, Hung up on me twice, bought a camera system wireless battery operated, worked fine for a while so I added solar panels and it quit working can't get customer service to do anything because they said the time is out terrible terrible terrible
I purchased the Lorex security camera system from Costco, hoping it would meet my expectations. One of the main reasons I chose this product was the motion zones feature advertised, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work as expected.I receive over 100 unnecessary alerts per day from each camera. For example, it detects people across the street and sends constant notifications. Even in areas I have excluded within the motion zones, I still receive alerts. I reported these issues to Lorex, but I have yet to receive any response.Additionally, the features promoted in their ads, such as car detection, face detection, and missing object detection, don’t function properly either. These were significant factors in my decision to purchase this product, but they’ve been a major disappointment.I’m considering returning the system soon. For anyone thinking of purchasing Lorex, be aware of these issues. The features sound impressive in the advertisements, but they fall short in actual use.
The system is ok but you can only have one person in the app at time. And do not bother with their wifi cameras. They do not stay connected. I am forever (everyday) fighting to get them reconnected. It sometimes takes hours and then tomorrow it's down again. I guess I can be grateful that that their notifications work, but only for the person logged in.I'm switching my system. I can't fight with it anymore.
