Review Time
Two weeks ago, I had a chip in my windshield and went through my insurance for repair, which had no deductible. I was referred to this service. Upon arrival, the technician insisted that chip repairs would always leave residue and pushed for a full replacement. I confirmed that the replacement would match my original windshield and agreed. After following all instructions for two weeks, the first time I washed my truck, the lower rubber molding came off, and I heard air noise from the corners. I contacted my insurance, and they reached out to the service, but they denied responsibility for the damaged molding, calling it 'wear and tear.' Their only offer was to reseal the windshield. Now I'm left with a non-OEM windshield, poor installation, and damaged molding. This is unacceptable craftsmanship and even worse customer service.
This location has really deteriorated. My previous visit wasn't great, but this time was even worse. I dropped my car off at 9 a.m., expecting it to be ready by 4 p.m.—then 6:30 p.m.—yet it still wasn't finished by 7:15 p.m. We missed dinner reservations due to the delay. Had I checked recent reviews, I would have chosen another service, as there are many similar one-star experiences. The service is unacceptable, and I strongly recommend seeking another location or company.
After the windshield was replaced, the overhead console began to rattle. I scheduled a visit for a warranty repair but, due to heavy rain and scheduling issues, we agreed to a mobile visit. When they failed to show, I called and learned my appointment was canceled due to a 'glitch.' They also stated that recalibration must be done at the shop, despite a rattle not needing calibration. They offered yet another trip to their shop, which I found unacceptable.
I needed a rear window replaced and made an appointment. The technician arrived, assessed the damaged window, and then called his office, saying they had ordered the wrong part. Given that my car has only one body style, this confusion was perplexing. He mentioned he could return in two days to complete the job, but the quote had risen from $650.00 to $1,225.00 in that time. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch. Fortunately, my trusted mechanic recommended an independent technician who came out the next morning, completed the work, and charged me half of the original quote.
The service installed a new windshield on my vehicle but informed me that I would need to go to a dealer for camera calibration, which they could not perform. Additionally, my cruise control was not functioning. The recalibration cost is $398, and they will not cover this expense.
Continuous emails confirming scheduled service with incorrect information, over, and over again. Multiple calls made by me to clear up mistakes to no avail. Clearly, Safelite has a serious problem administratively.
I wish I had seen these reviews before I called these incompetent crooks! They are the absolute worst company in the business! This is not an old review either, im currently dealing with the incompetent morons as i speak now! They have come out 4 times, cant even install a windshield without defects, the company is so disorganized, they never know what the drivers are doing, they hire people that have no experience and dont know what they are doing. The pricing is crooked, the communication is the worst. They will schedule, cancel, reschedule, cancel, change dates, change times, a barrel of monkeys run that dump. I would avoid EVER using them, even if its free...and if it is free they do even worse work!! Truly the worst company, its no wonder they have a 1 star rating!!! Complete joke!!
Overall the attention was great, they repaired our glass in just a bit less than 1 hour. Giving them the 4 stars instead of 5 because just then they let us know that if the regulator was broken then they wouldn’t be able to fix our glass. 1. We provided the details of the issue through the website.2. We traveled close to 2 hours to get there.3. They tell us if the regulator’s broken they won’t fix the glass. They don’t do regulators anymore, they won’t recommend a mechanic who does it either.So. In the end the service was good, but the anxiety of not knowing what’s going on sucks. They should provide these kind of details in the quote. The receptionist who saw us also seemed to have no clue of what we were asking.
I set an appointment to have my wife's Toyota windshield replaced. They were supposed to arrive between 7 & 11 AM. The days prior to the appointment I was inundated with emails prompting me to be ready. They never showed. Someone called at 1:32 PM to say they might be out tomorrow. I fired them and hired another auto glass company.
