I've used safelite for 20+ years to fix chips in windshields on various cars I've own also 3 windshield replacements and have always been very pleased with their work.

But things have changed. .. this last time about two weeks ago. The technician arrived at my home, I did all the prep requests like making sure to pull car from the garage and make sure it's out.The technician arrived at my home, and as soon as she got out of the van (Safelite) my gut was second guessing the repair by this technician, Not because the tech was female...I'm female and all for girl power!
With that said, I absolutely REGRET allowing this tech to come anywhere my car. Not only did she not fix the chip but went outside the chip and caused a crack in my windshield and she had nerve to say "oh my goodness" pointing at the crack and tapping on it with her finger as she tries to explain what she did to cause damage to my windshield. I moved closer to see what she was attempting to show me and again she began lighting tapping on my windshield to show me the approx. 4 inch hairline crack that actually spread another 3-4 inches as we stand there watching this damage of my windshield get more worse! I asked what os going on and what the heck did you do to my car! She answers with saying, she won't charge me for not repairing the chip and that she's not sure if it won't continue to spread! I stated "I wasn't paying you anyway because insurance was paying you". I contacted safelite to explain the issue, the only thing they said was that glass is unpredictable and that whatever she did can rarely happen and proceeded to tell me that will place it as "failed repair" I automatically think they would replace my damage windshield FREE!
Headsup my fellow drivers...Safelite says even if their tech damages your windshield...they are not liable and will NOT pay to replace what they broke but "failed repair" means if you did pay to have a chip fixed and they damage your windshield, they will put what you paid towards a brand new windshield and do not offer ANY form of compensation. I even went as far as offering to pay half of my deductible even though I had nothing to do with the damage their tech did to my car! Amazingly they shot that idea down too!
I have always trusted Safelite above anyone and have even referred people to them but I will not longer do business with this company EVER!! PLEASE save yourself the headache and stay far away from safelite! HORRIBLE AND QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!
Now I have to spend hundreds of dollars to replace what they destroyed, how in the world does this make sense. Personally my believe is no matter what, money will go in their pockets...fix a chip get paid or damage your property and they are still in the clear and with more money they get assuming the customer will move forward and use them for the replacement....another pay day for them!

Joseph was the technician that replaced the glass and was polite and informative. He was upfront with any potential issues, like rust or brittle fender to cowl mucket not surviving the replacement. But, in the end he was able to avoid any problems. The windshield looks great! Would recommend to anyone getting a windshield replaced.

When back glass cracked and fell out on minus degree weather, my insurance sent me to Safelite in Fort Wayne IN. Big mistake. Was supposed to come do the new glass in my garage which is warm enough. Tech didn't show up. No way to actually call and get a real person.4pm someone called and said she'd left me voicemails and tried to call since 7am. No numbers on my phone, no messages. I kept my phone with me all day. The woman said I'd need to bring it to shop. Well, it's -3 degrees, can't drive to shop with no back window! Finally tech came and wrapped my window. I took it to shop next day. They came out with a nut that looked like someone cut a chunk out of one side. Scratched marks all around nut.Lady said to go get a new one and call and make another appointment. Shouldn't they have nuts there if they take off and put wiper arms on? I think the nut looks like it's been cut.its not overly rusty or thin. It was damaged. I'm probably going to end up replaces the whole wiper arm because nut is part of the kit for the wiper arm. It's an odd size. No auto parts have it. Will NEVER use Safelite again and will let others know how crappy of a service they are!

Disappointing Service and Lack of Communication

A technician was supposed to come to my location to repair a crack in my front windshield. I waited from 8 a.m. until noon, taking the day off work for this, which is a significant compromise for my patients. Unfortunately, the technician never arrived. After multiple attempts to reach out via the chat, someone finally picked up my call. The representative, without any apology, informed me that they were still awaiting the necessary part. I only received this information after my persistent efforts to contact them. This service is highly unreliable. They partner with an insurance provider, and when I reached out to them, the call was dropped during the transfer. This is simply unacceptable.

Disappointed with wiper blade service

I intended to buy new wiper blades for my vehicle due to streaking, only to remember that the service team had replaced them less than six months ago at $35.00 each. I had heard they offered various brand options, but I don't recall discussing that; I only requested new blades.

Arrived 2 hours early with little notice

The technician sent to fix the glass did a subpar job, as the crack/chip appeared worse after the 'repair.' Two months later, while parked, it cracked significantly. I had scheduled an appointment with a time frame of 1pm-6pm, but received a call at 10:30am saying the technician was 5 minutes away. Despite confirming our appointment at 8:30am, I informed him I wasn't home but could arrive in half an hour. His office instructed him to tell me I needed to reschedule, which was unacceptable. If a time window is provided, it should be honored. There was no apology or effort to return during my scheduled time, and I felt I had to wait around all day. I chose not to reschedule and went with a different service that was much more professional and communicative.

Extremely disappointing experience

This has been the worst experience. After two weeks of daily reminders and confirmation texts, they canceled my appointment 2.5 hours into my wait. This was my third time dealing with this service, and each time has been marked by delays, cancellations, or unavailability of parts. I will not be returning!

Great mobile repair but unclear pricing

I appreciated the convenience of having the technician come to my home to repair the windshield, but the experience was awkward. The technician informed me of the price for windshield wipers, which I had been told would be $40, but he said it was actually $40 each, totaling $80. When I declined, he seemed frustrated and offered a deal for $75 with rain repellent. It felt like a tactic to make me think I was getting a good deal, which I wasn't. I later discovered they earn commission on add-ons, and the technician's frustration made me uncomfortable. The pricing for add-ons is excessive, and better communication regarding costs is needed.

A complete disaster!

My experience with the service has been nothing short of a nightmare! The staff is incredibly incompetent. Despite having four appointments, they still haven't provided the correct upper molding for my vehicle. They attempted to use the wrong part, resulting in a twisted and bulging appearance. I've wasted time off work and multiple Saturdays in their lobby. After six calls to their corporate office, I'm still without a solution. I now have to drive an hour next week to another location, hoping they know what they're doing. This company is unprofessional and dishonest, and I regret trusting them based on my insurance referral.

Smooth process from start to finish

This review pertains to the service in Pueblo, Colorado. I was very satisfied with how everything went. I was able to secure an appointment for the next day at a time that suited me for rear glass replacement on my vehicle. They began work right away upon arrival and completed it efficiently while cleaning up all the broken glass. I have no complaints at all.
