I applied for a card for my brother weeks ago, there was an error on the app. I uploaded my documents, they were approved but my brother's weren't. It was agreed I send them by email and they were accepted. However I have had the same error message on the app since trying to upload his documents. Sibstar assured me it would be resolved when the card arrived (this took much longer than expected) and I was given 3 months free for the hassle I had had. The card arrived last week and app still doesn't work, I'm no further forward and have sent several emails to Sibstar this week and nobody has responded.
It's been a very frustrating day dealing with them. I've been waiting for a response to an ongoing problem on and off all day, stemming from the fact my 88 year uncle, doesn't have an email. I can't believe he's on his own! Therefore I was asked to supply another email which I did - his other niece's but what Sibcard fails to alert you to is that this person will immediately receive a code which only lasts 10 minutes! Needless to say, by the time I'd let her know (and she was out) the code had expired. Hoping to complete the process this afternoon, having warned her to sit at her laptop, the app won't now let me in.I've currently been waiting 45 minutes for some help (first advice was to reinstall the app but that's made no difference). I think they've gone home.I just hope that if I ever succeed in getting this card for my completely un-techie uncle, it'll be a breeze but the early indication isn't filling me with hope!I will be happy to change this review once Sibstar has managed to get me logged in.
A bit of a rocky start trying to get the account set up, I had the same problem as the previous customer review, not knowing that the code was sent to the other email but we got there in the end. We eventually received the card but when I tried to transfer a large lump sum of money into the Sibstar account our bank, Virgin Money would not let the payment go through I was on the phone to the bank for 1.5hrs talking to 2 different people placed on hold for ages an then put through to the fraud squad who said the reason the payment was stopped is because the bank Sibstar are associated with are linked to crypto coin so they refuse to transfer large lump sums, I am able to have a standing order for £200 every week thank goodness! So we then had the card and had some money on it only to find out my mum can’t use it at the post office!! I could have cried, but saying that she is using the card at the local shop and for her online shopping and so far it seems to be working well.
I set up this account for my Mum who has sever memory loss and struggles to manage her money (we think she has early onset dementia but the tests haven’t picked this up yet, very common apparently). The way the account and card system is set up is really clever and allows my Mum to have the freedom of using her card but with limits that I can help her manage stopping fraud/excessive spending.I think the main benefit is that I’m not having to explain the situation to another stuffy back who makes me feel like I’m doing something untoward/imagining the situation with my Mum. The very nature of Sibstar means that every one I speak to understands our situation and is sympathetic towards it which means a lot because it’s a very emotional situation that myself and my brother are finding ourselves in. Thanks Sibstar!
I set the Sibstar App up for my Mum who has early dementia, and has been through a lot of family disputes, making her very vulnerable to certain people and scams worlwide. The system is a very thorough but probably more lengthier then a normal bank would concur, in searching the persons actual ID. But gives one peace of mind. It did take around 1 month to recieve the card, but once set up is like clockwork and very easy to understand. To sum up its a very good idea, take my hats off to all involved in running it. Brilliant help desk.last but not least....Thankyou.
Have I hope found and answer for to a serious problem when my younger family member has no longer the capacity to manage their financial affairs.Sibstar seems to have a simple safe way that can be tailored to individual needs and the team are ever present to answer your queries in a kind and sympathetic manner and guide you through the process
