Problems with my graded Smeg range cooker:Sides far more ‘dented’ than described – more like caved inDent back of hob area (not described in listing)Front foot plate scratched and dented (not mentioned in listing – front described as ‘no damage’ )No gas hose adaptor or LPG fittings (omitted from delivery on Friday and noticed on Saturday by my plumber)Door lines uneven (‘no damage’ to front of cooker in listing)What I was told by AD:Adaptor has never been missing before – implying I was mistakenCan’t do anything over weekend – although I did then get another callAdaptor will be sent 1st thing Monday to arrive Tuesday (It’s Thursday now and I still don’t have it)Why didn’t you decline the delivery? (I accepted the damage to the sides and even the small dent to the hob as I am not a fussy customer and the damage to the sides would not be seen)Why didn’t you tell us sooner? (I phoned and sent an email on the Saturday and another one on Monday after telephoning about the foot plate and being asked to send pictures. I only saw the uneven doors on Monday when the cooker had been put in situ and I had a moment to look at it from the other side of the room – not originally obvious in my small hallway)Maybe I have uneven floors which would account for the uneven doors (?)Further conversations:I suggested I could have a replacement and was told ‘no’ – I would be given a full refund.I was later called by Steve who offered me a replacement saying he had some new Smeg cookers in.I accepted this after looking at the website, but noticed the one I wanted (albeit same model and grading) was a lower price.Steve then retracted his offer when I pointed out the price difference and that I would be due a refund – saying that he had put himself out already, wasn’t prepared to refund me (what amounted to £50 in a potential sale of more than £1,000), I was clearly a difficult customer and he couldn’t be bothered with all the paperwork.I don’t know what Steve’s problem is, but he needs to think about how much all of this has put ME out and I’m sure his boss won’t be too pleased with his lack of business acumen. I was prepared to give the business another chance.So….I am now waiting in for the cooker to be collected. I have been forced to buy a new cooker from Appliances Online so that I have a cooker for my guests next week. My plumber will need to visit a second time. I will have been without a cooker for a week.Update after reading response: Your response is inaccurate and misleading. Your oven was in far worse condition than described and I still don't have the hose adaptor....did you ever send it? No I didn't need the LPG kit...so what is your point? But i did need the hose adaptor. You are trying to imply that I am fussy...well shame on you for such a predictable stance.
Fantastic communication from website to email to phone about the delivery time. Driver was very helpful in getting the large fridge into our house, taking it out of its packaging and inspecting. We are also very pleased with the fridge itself which is near perfect despite being graded A.
Brought a graded oven as:-Fully working-Dents on sides and back (but a fitted oven)Oven arrived, checked it over but can’t plug in as needs to be wired in, so signed all ok to delivery driver. Wired it up to test before removing old oven to fit and find the fan on this ‘new fully working oven’ does in fact not work. Called to make company aware and they sent request to repair company (Dolphin). 4 days later I have a fixed oven. The fan motor didn’t work and a wire was also crushed. I’ve heard it’s sadly common for these companies to sell knowingly broken goods so they don’t have to pay for fix, then they arrange fix once with the customer through manufacturer warranty. I hope this isn’t the case but thought I should put my experience on here. Happy for Appliance Depot to reach out.
Great service, managed to deliver sooner than first available slot on website after calling the depot. Very helpful and friendly on the phone. The driver called with the arrival time and was there when he said. Helped me to get it inside. Great service all round
I originally reviewed The Appliance Depot straight after I received my microwave, that review is still shown below. However my opinion has changed. The weekend after I received my built in microwave I went to fit it, and realised that I hadn't taken into account the depth of the new microwave. The new one was a lot deeper, and thus didn't fit in our non standard unit. I checked to see if they had anything suitable, they didn't, so I contacted them first by phone, and was told to email and it will be dealt with on Monday by Anna. I was thinking they would collect when they are next in the area and just charge me for the collection, but no, I got a short and very to the point email, I had to make my own arrangments to return it, I would be charged a £50 restocking fee, the original carriage would also be deducted and if the item wasn't in perfect condition then further deductions would apply (which is fair if I or the courier damage it). When you buy goods via the internet you have 14 days from date of receipt to notify the supplier you want to return them. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations they cant charge a restocking fee, they also have to refund their standard carriage charges, and if the item is in the same condition the full amount of the cost of the item. I pointed this out and they agreed to waive the restocking fee, that was nice of them! Considering they cant charge it in the first place! Had they said they could collect for a fee I no doubt would have agreed, even forfeited the original carriage, as it was my fault, but the £50 restocking fee annoyed me.As for the condition, the goods were supplied in damaged packing (its what they sell after all), thus I didn't trust a courier and I was also a bit wary that they may arrive damaged even if they weren't. I also suspect the cost of a courier would be rather expensive given the size and the weight of the item so I drove the 360 mile round trip and delivered it myself. The staff that received it were very helpful, and polite, they thoroughly checked the microwave, signed my paperwork and let me take pictures of it. I received a confirmation email that the refund had been processed on the Monday, and the full amount was credited back to my card in a few days.Their T&C on their website incorrectly state that that their terms comply with regulations, when they clearly don't on quite a few items.I've changed my review from 5 stars to 2 stars, it would have been 1, but as the staff were helpful on the day of return, and the funds credited back quickly and correctly I feel 2 is appropriate.Original review.Excellent service, I was contacted the day after I placed my order to let me know the delivery date, and likely time. Was kept up to date via phone calls and emails, with a call the day before confirming that I was the second delivery of the day and roughly what time it would be. Delivery driver was great as well, got a phone call about 10 minutes prior to delivery, right on schedule. Can't fault the delivery service.
I bought a Freezer from this company about a year ago.The first thing that went wrong was; a note on the machine saying some thing was wrong, didn't say what ?Contacted The Appliance Depot, they said that I should contact their warranty company. Which I did, they came & fiddled about, & somehow removed the notice. But didn't know how they did it ? They suggested that the temperature was set too high. It was set to - 24, [as received by Appliance Depot]. They reset it to - 18.At minus - 18 the contents were almost melting, the top of the freezer was just about OK, the bottom of the freezer was less than freezing. I reported back to Appliance Depot, they said it wasn't their problem, & to get back to the warranty people, also to contact NordMende in Ireland the supplier to Appliance Depot.I got the warranty company in again, & again twice. I had to put down the temperature to - 24. At this temperature it was freezing at top, but at the bottom. We put some bread at the bottom, it was mildew after 2 weeks. The warranty company, said that it may need a flush & refill of the liquid that does the freezing ? This never happened. They also said that they had sent a message to NordeMande to refund our money.I contacted Appliance Depot again to let them know about this.Their comment [ as usual ] we haven't heard from them, we can't do anything until we do, you will have to go back to them. I contacted NordeMende, they pushed me back to the warranty company, & the warranty co. have now ignored me.I am now stuck with a freezer, where only half is used.I am considering taking The Appliance Depot to the small claims court, [ I have taken a company to the small claims court before, & won, but never got my money. ]So I really do not know what to do.But if anybody is thinking to buy from The Appliance Depot, think twice !!!!!
